Re: Sooooo frustrated with threaded strips

Sliding nuts are good if you have Analogue Systems modules. For those that don't know, the Doepfer standard and the AS standard differ in power connectors and hole spacing

Re: Large components = fat sound?

This is partly why I got a Moog Model 15. I managed to match even very complex patches with (mostly smd) eurorack modules so closely that I couldn't tell the difference in A/B comparisons, even crazy FM patches.... except for the 907A fixed filter bank. Nothing seems to sound like the 907A. The only...

Re: Quad VCOs

Doepfer A-111-4 sounds great. It's especially good at beastly analog FM, and can even get close to Yamaha FM sounds self-patched.
For wavetables it's hard to beat the Flame 4VOX, especially with custom microwave wavetables. At 29 hp I prefer it to the 48 hp E520.

Re: Changing knobs on certain modules?

All the Doepfer modules that I've used have T18 shafts. There are some nice Davies clones for T18 available that look good. You can also buy standard Doepfer knobs in other colours. The black ones look much better than the standard grey ones in my opinion. Then there are knobs with screws like these...

Re: Still looking for my PPG...

The PPG 2.2 is 8 bit and it doesn't have reconstruction filtering. So while it's not the same kind of aliasing as using a fixed sampling frequency on playback and skipping or interpolating samples, it still introduces a ton of "wrong" frequencies. These extra frequencies track beautifully with the p...

Re: Which modules instantly hooked you with their workflow? Best intuitive and good UX modules?

Moog Model 15 I know it's not eurorack, but that's the point. As soon as I started patching it I realised what I was missing in eurorack. There's a fluidity to patching the Model 15 that I've never experienced in eurorack, where the extra CV inputs, handy mixer, multiples and the overall layout invi...

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

There ARE some lines they could step across that would turn me into a boycotter...for instance if they cloned MFOS or PAIA stuff without permission, as those are actively earning money for the (venerable) companies involved. How about this then? I'm not claiming that this is a copy because apparent...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

Don't know if this has been discussed earlier, but why is there no feature that allows crossfading of zones? This would be much more useful than the crossfading of channels that is already implemented, for me personally at least. I guess it would require handling up to twice the amount of samples p...

Re: Korg Wavestate

Would have been nice if you could have the decimator between the oscillators and the filters, that way you could better approximate 80's gear like the Mirage or the VS. Maybe a later firmware revision, but I'm not holding my breath.

I had a 6 foot Kawai for 25 years. I think the Kawais are great value for money. The latest ones have really good action. Slightly better action than Yamaha in my opinion and a bit more character. Yamahas all sound like a sample library to me. I think you'd need to spend way more than 30k to get som...

A really good way of slowing down is to hold off on any new purchases for a couple of months, in which time you might have lost interest. And you live in the US of A so it's not such a big deal to sell modules since the shipping is cheap. In that case how about this: 1 - wait 2 months before buying ...

If the envelopes are digital then the gate input is digitally monitored, there's no way around that. Depends what you mean by digitally monitored. The gate signal might go to a hardware interrupt, which could give a response of less than a microsecond. And even if it's being polled, most modern mic...

Never used the midiverb II but I had a midiverb 1 back in the day. 80's digital reverbs sound very different from modern reverbs like the Space or Big Sky. The most obvious example I can think of is Moments in Love. I don't think any modern reverb except an OTO BAM can sound like that. Crunchy, grai...

Behringer Crave available for preorder! 249 USD Cheaper than a Neutron but more expensive than a Kalimba Looks nice but can't help thinking it would have been more useful with a sub-oscillator. Other CEM 3340 based synths had sub outputs and it would have only required a 15 cent 4013, plus another ...
