Re: Seriously considering a Shnth and would like advice

I completely agree with what's been expressed-- it's an amazing device, but programming it to do interesting things isn't easy. My favourite patches are still all other peoples'. I spent a lot of time with it for a few months, but haven't used it much recently-- but I know I will again. What I like...

Re: Looking to buy my first VCV Rack modules

VCV Host runs plugins inside of VCV and exposes all of their parameters as modulation inputs. This makes it really easy and fun to put your favorite effect plugin in the middle of a big patch and hit it with shared LFOs, envelopes, etc. One of my template Racks is just Clock->Pulse Matrix->VCV Host...

Re: Looking to buy my first VCV Rack modules

I had VCV Console in my template patch for a year, but I replaced it with the free MindMeld mixer, since that has stereo channels for easier mixing. Vult's incredible. I've bought all of those sets. I'll do some self-promotion and recommend the Unfiltered Audio modules. Omri Cohen did a great lives...

Re: Looking to buy my first VCV Rack modules

The vst Host was my first choice and it's never disappointed: https://vcvrack.com/Host A controversial option, well worth considering: Matthew Friedrichs' Maths clone Floats re: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJtpzysqJv8&t=224s Thank you! Do you know if the host functionality be part of the VCV Ra...

Looking to buy my first VCV Rack modules

Its my birthday coming up and I’m going to ask for a set of modules and would love to get your thoughts on what I should get first. I love experimenting with wild sounds (ala. morphogene, ciat-lonbard etc…). I see that the Vult modules seem used a lot. (and I love the names of the modules :slight_sm...

Just now getting into VCV Rack and would love to find out if there are any repositories for VCV Rack patches. Like the NI Reaktor User Library...

Re: Volca Modular - I got one (review / compare with Easel).

Was thinking of getting Volca Drums but really wanted good randomizing and unpredictability. So now, I'm thinking of the VM and wondering if I could coax some good beats out of it as well. I love the sound of the Buchla in general in terms of rhythmic bleeps and such but love the crisp resonating so...

Makenoise 0-Coast or Mother32 or Minilogue XD module or ???

Been looking into finding a machine that I can use to develop and improvise songs live. I don't want to go in the whole modular eurorack direction so I'm trying to simplify by getting one synth that I can play with different controllers. I've boiled it down to these 3 and would love to get thoughts ...

There's relatively sufficient patch examples in the download package. Those seems to be collected over time and not everything works in an apparent manner but many of them are great and suggest lots of hints and ideas. The thing is, it is still not covering many of Shnth goodness yet. Shnth (Fish) ...

Lyra-8 is an interesting and great synth but the sound variety is not comparable to Shnth I think. An organic feeling analog synth and hardcore digital experimental device. Lyra-8 is quick to get those sound (very good nice sound) but for me it's sort of samey over time while Shnth isn't quick and ...

I'm sure Shnth has an enormous potential for what it can do, capable of so wide range of sound creation. It's just about how much you'd devote to program it. And that's where it isn't so instant or easy (for me at least). It's maybe like learning FM synth; to become familiar with what various opcod...

Seriously considering a Shnth and would like advice

I'm kinda new to this type of expressive device and would love to know if there are other similar devices with similar price ranges that I should consider along with this one. I love what sound this is capable of but I've only heard it being used one time in a live improv performance. I'm curious if...

I'm on the verge of buying this device. Can you tell me how you like it and if it provides enough diversity in sound to keep your interest? I would want to tweak presets and use it for live performing/improvising. Is it hard to get proficient at?

Thanks for any feedback!

I'm so curious about this device. I was wondering what other similar devices I might consider that have these tactile expressive hand control potential?

Thanks!
