Dirty, Imprecise, Nuanced, or Otherwise Untame Module Lines

You've probably seen this play out before. Dude buys up a bunch of Cwejman and realizes actually what he's after is the nuanced and somewhat dirty tone of a module that doesn't do what it's supposed to do very accurately. For my Facebooking Wigglers, you might have already seen my question there. Ca...

Are you sure you guys aren't just hearing powersupply noise? After moving to a Intellijel case with Meanwell DC supplies, I'm able to coax the noise out of some modules where that wasn't possible before in a Doepfer case with linear supply. If it helps drive the problem home, the Cwejman MMF-1S is p...

There are a bunch of new M4L devices in Live 10, they showed the new M4L drum synths in the main video.

how long does it take to be approved in their beta program for 10? i requested access yesterday.. Hard to say. They offered 10 Beta keys to their community user group organizers, which I am for Columbus, Ohio, they likely offer similar benefits for others but that's not visible to me. I can say une...

I was very underwhelmed by the update They have got no where near catching up with the features of Bitwig but it a good solid bunch of workflow updates. I think the suite to suite update is expensive for what it is (and the non suite update has very little in it) you are a Live user and don't need ...

Got Live 10 Beta Access. The workflow enhancements really sold me, plus Push 2 support. The extra devices are pure gravy. I love and can't live without the Live samplers, thinking I might have similar feelings for some of the new devices. They've also quietly improved a few others. Ableton's entire ...

Anyone here seen this?

Seems insane in combination with ZDSP. Pack up your favorite patches into ZDSP cards.

Making the Doepfer A-112 Skiff/Modern Case Friendly

Anyone here attempted to re-panel or remount the PCB for the A-112 in a way that would allow it to fit into a skiff or modern shallow case? It's an amazing 100mm deep! I'm considering removing all the knobs, switches, jacks, etc from the main PCB, re-attaching them (as mounted) to another, and runni...

Filters with interesting resonance characteristics

Some time ago I had a DMF-2, which has some pretty fun resonance characteristics with higher Q and input drive, it also responded in fun ways to filter FM. Sounded like a squeaky squirrel in an AFX kind of way. Right now I've only got a MMF-1S in my case, it's largely pretty clean, but the resonance...

Big Dog Multi FX. Who are the top 5 Players?

Going through a consolidation phase right now, considering the ZDSP, seems I've been out of th game a while. Which multi FX modules are laying it down hard these days? Is ZDSP still a player? ER301 looks like a new challenger.

What have you all found in practice?

Not worth doing more than simple triggers, gates, and simple CV, precise CV for pitch will get messed up from your samplers available headroom, you'll have to floor the outputs to get 1v/oct scaling which might also add undue complexity to your set, better off using a uMidi or similar interface.

Re: Modern sequencer/samplers with micro editing / event lis

OP, why don't you keep using your MPC's? they are excellent sequencers still. Even moreso when you get to using JJOS on them. mpc1000 and 2500 aren't too old to be not modern by any means! Shit, i had a 2500 on sequencer duty and sold it for a MPC2kXL, that was a lot of fun. Sadly, I sold them! Whe...

Modern sequencer/samplers with micro editing / event lists

hey you guuuuys! kind of realized lately I never really recovered musically after moving off the Kawaii Q-80 sequencer, it was really an instrument as much as it was a sequencer to me. It really seems like most DAWs are hiding MIDI event lists and removing that direct editing and event scrolling cap...

Best cassette recording mixers for creative uses

Greetings everyone. Been considering cassette "portastudio" mixers as a creative tool in sound creation and rough idea recording, mulling over all the options, things from simple portastudio 414/424 to more feature rich 644. Not sure how much of that 424mkii and 644 featureset is really useful for c...

Modules that produce many CV outputs given minimal inputs

Greetings friends. Been thinking a long while how to make the best use of demanding modules like the RES-4. I find it demanding because of the sheer number of CV inputs and I believe it works the best when the bands are modulated and not static. To that end, what modules have you found useful for th...

Aye, it is, but do I need it at all? I do not care about storing samples, I only use it as a fucked up delay.

Without the battery, I get no sound out the outputs, just DC voltage.

Dear god the MMF-1s is AMAZING. As you'd imagine, same clinical sound of the MMF-1, but the saturation has a VERY wide range. The saturation as you might imagine, retains that same detail we'd expect from a MMF-1. Unlike the DMF-2, who's saturation clouds the original signal (maybe this is what you ...
