I would assume they sound similar but not the same, I just looked on their site and I noticed a trademark *Solid State Micro Technology. Guess that's to indicate the change of design. I have the original versions so hope they become more valuable.

Think I really need to test and compare like many modules I've purchased, as sound quality is more important than functionality. Just remembered I did own an E340 but found the sound quality not that great, I also had to send it back to repair an aliasing type of sound being produced. That put me of...

That's interesting, I've only used my VCA Matrix thus far for effect sends and feed back duties. I know it's been crying out for more exploration. When my Shapeshifter arrives, I'll try pairing them up and throw my Rubicon in the mix.

Thanks for the replies, I'm leaning towards the Shapeshifter. It sounds like It'll give me the best value for money. The functionality looks like many months of fun exploring. How will the Shaeshifter pair and compare to my Rubicon, Dixie combo?

Which digital oscillator, Braids or Cylonix Shapeshifter

I'm looking at purchasing my first digital oscillator and having a hard time deciding between Braids or Cylonix Shapeshifter. If you had to choose one which would it be and why?

I also noticed that my Planar was running warmer than the rest of my modules, along with what seemed like a strange overheating smell. I put the smell down to it being a new module and the heat to the fact that my Doepfer 9u was drawing almost 1200ma. I was concerned enough to unplug the Planar. I s...

Is my WMD Geiger Counter faulty?

Just purchased a new Geiger Counter, I noticed when selecting wave tables there is a small click sound heard. When I plug a cable into the wave table cv - the click then becomes, what sounds like a bit crushed noise being heard on almost every turn.

Is this normal operation? :help:

Had a RS 440, great sound but lack of filter and the fact you had to switch the power on and off a few times, to active the circuit became annoying. Still got an A 188 4028 stages, I preferred the sound of the RS 440 but the A 188 is more versatile. Its out of a case and not been used in ages. My fa...

I have Z3000's. They all have perfect tracking when first powered on, so I'd assume they are temperature compensated.

Almost exactly the same - I had to make a claim with Paypal and his account was frozen until I was refunded.

I will say that when I did get a fully working module, I was very happy with the sound quality. Was it worth the hassle! :despair:

AM8109 - What's the power consumption

I've been trying to find out the power consumption for the AM 8109 - but to no avail.

Can someone help, as I'm peaking over my 1200ma allowance and feeling concerned I may damage something.

I think I may be on the big side, but half my system is semi modular - computer based. Controlled from one device panel with recall of complex patches. The other half is for jamming with the computer off. Everyone is individual want to go big fine, but I'd always recommend starting small and not inc...

I only order from the U.S. on fairly large orders. That way I normally get postage free. If you do the maths, its works out the same most of the time. I just ordered 2x VCA Matrix cost @ Post Modular £640 cost @ AH $750 PayPal exchange rate slightly more than XE.com = £505 + 20% vat = 606 + ha...

Easiest way to figure out the A 138m is by experimentation. Start with audio and use it as an aux send with feedback. Plug your audio in and out to 1 and plug a delay, reverb, vcf or similar in and out to 2,3 and 4. Use row 1 vertical and horizontal for traditional send fx's then use the others for ...

I had 1x 138m loved it so much I bought another 2. I sold 2 and have on order 2x vca matrix. I often had vca's patched in when using the 138m, so 16 on the vca matrix is great! The mute buttons on the vca matrix will be great for performance.
