Compare the broken thing to a working one.

Re: Everywhere at the End of Time
V/Vm was one of the first live acts I saw, bizarrely, in 2003 around the "Sick Love" LP, complete with Elton John glasses, public self harm, complete inversion of live experience (completely prerecorded). I got back into him after realising I was making parallel works to the Death of Rave project, f...

Re: Oscilloplasm - complex VCO pair
New demo comprised of 2 Oscillplasm VCO modules plus digital reverb, and some drums added for compositional effect from a Reaktor Newscool ensemble. Polite reminder that these modules are extremely capable of thick complex evolving drones. https://aethermachine.files.wordpress.com/2021/01/dronesandr...

Re: Behringer VCS3
Yawn... Same argument, every time. Have you got anything new? Actually I don't think anyone has made an intellectual disussion around cloned circuits as a form of sampling before. Sampling is a concept we are all familiar with, and cloning is absolutely a form of sampling, more so when it takes on ...

So heavy on cut and paste of someone else's idea it cannot even be called a synthesizer any more.

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT
I don't know if the information in the thread is totally accurate. There have been some indiciations that there will be some harmony between the UK and the EU with a sort of "gated" access to the single market, via an EORI number at point of export and import? Lots of the legal advice given was base...

Re: CA3280 spice model?
You could probably just use the LM13700 model, if you drive Id with a current source (the one major difference between the 2 parts) it will be almost identical

Re: Mutant Theory - 3D physical modelling filter
Hi Cat-A-Tonic. The AS-360 appears to be 3 multimode filters in parallel, whereas the original concept for the Mutant Theory was for an analog model for a 3D membrane. If you have heard the complex resonant phenomena of a metallic object like a gong, you will know that an electronic model for this w...

Re: analog oscillators locking
One of the key measures of performance of any circuit or subcircuit in the analog domain is to discriminate between signal and noise, which is mainly limited by design aptitude and market demand. Crosstalk would be considered part of this - the lowest noise floor I have seen measured in an analog ci...

Re: Lead forming tool
RS contains a lot of this forgotten electronics knowledge, there used to be a handheld tool in this section which sometimes comes up on Ebay (component forming tool might work for you as a search heading). The one given below is fully automated for batch production, which may be more than you need a...

Re: 4u Bantam format considerations
Pre-2010 modules could be retrofitted with a new jackfield board which added impedance balanced outputs. The problem that they experienced, as may be the case here, is that production for manufacture needs brave decisions that cannot easily be undone, in the case of (old) 300 series modules, retrofi...

Re: 4u Bantam format considerations
It would be an enormous project to undertake. Skepticisms: Mounting depth, bantams need much greater space behind the panel than the 4U formats. You can eyeball measure here: https://aethermachine.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/img_20180314_2354351.jpg Retrofitting of balanced I/O to the modules - you ...

Re: Filter Design Theory
Conceptually, the state variable filter is really the ultimate analog computing building block. You can get simultaneous BP, LP, HP and AP outputs, and it can also be used as a Sine oscillator. Most morphing filter types are SVFs with simple crossfading with VCAs. In practical terms, the SVF has bee...

Re: warmest sounding complex oscillator?
Warmth comes from subtle distortions and non linearities in the signal path. An oscillator is a signal path joined in an infinite recursive loop, with the beginning of the cycle connected to the end of it, thus any non-linearities thru distortion, assymetry or similar are more noticeable. On the oth...

Re: Sequantizer weird issue
I had a similar issue with a Waveform City module which worked on a Blacet PS500 but would fail after 45 mins when connected to a Full Power supply, this was fixed urgently (turnaround 1 day) by Cary for a festival performance in 2012 - if that jogs anyone's memory. I recall that a resistor in the d...

Re: Soldering resistors and diodes from the top of the board
I find it easier that way, more so because I have a hand operated device which automates lead bending and trimming. So I can just drop the parts on, which gives a nicer finish (in my experience) than laying the board down. The one issue that I have is that flux residue is harder to clean from the top.

There are a lot of internal dilemmas and conflicts with regard to manufacturing solutions for the audio marke...
