Re: Korg Drumlogue

I really loved the old Electribe ER-1 drum synth. It was so much fun to use, and had very unique sounds - definitely different sounding than the typical Roland TR fare. If this new Drumlogue has similar capabilities, plus more, then count me in. Korg is putting out some great new stuff, the Modwave ...

Re: Dave Smith hints at Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4/Prophet 10

I'm not a fan of the pan spread feature either. Ping-pong bouncing voices left and right just usually comes off sounding like a gimmick to me. I tend to record most things in mono anyway because I run through a lot of guitar pedals that are mono, and then deal with stereo effects when mixing. To eac...

Re: Sequential OB6 and P6 get MPE and P5/10 style 'vintage' function

Cool.
Can anyone point me to a technical explanation about how Vintage is different than Slop?
I've found many posts saying Vintage sounds better, without really saying how. But I'd like to know exactly what it is doing.

Re: Earthquaker Devices Rainbow Machine

Apparently if you dial it in right, it’s the best chorus pedal ever?? Heard that from a few folks! Still haven’t tried one after all these years. One day. It can sound like a very thick chorus/doubler (with 2 delay lines) by keeping the Tracking tighter, and the Pitch knob around noon. Back off the...

Expand the "View More" tab and the specs say 400mA minimum, 1A recommended.
I've used mine with 500mA quite often and it works fine.

Re: Clockwork orange soundtrack phaser sound

The 904C Filter Coupler can create a Band Reject (Notch) filter by mixing the 904A and 904B. Sweep that Notch filter with an LFO and you can get some phaser-like sounds. http://www.moogarchives.com/m904c.htm The Uni-Vibe effect was also around back then, starting in the late 60s. It can produce some...

Re: Retirement present

Sequential OB-6 - I just recently bought one, love it. A modern classic, different and unique sounding and stands out from the crowd. Waldorf Quantum - Sure, seems amazing. Definitely a contender. Korg Arp 2600 Reissue - A curve ball, given the others you mentioned...but damn the lust is strong with...

Re: Dave Smith hints at Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4/Prophet 10

But the only issue for me is $$$. Just never spend that kind of money on synths. I would have to sell literally half my studio to buy this. It's definitely a luxury, and it's funny to hear so many people in this thread talk about mid-life crisis purchases. People around my age are certainly the tar...

Re: Dave Smith hint of a new synth coming up in August

Why do they all insist on this tiresome Nostalgia instead of innovating. 1. Dave Smith has resisted 1-for-1 remakes and instead designed new synths for almost 20 years (the Evolver desktop came out in 2002). 2. The "nostalgic" stuff sounds damn good, and I'm glad it is being remade. 3. Plenty of in...

Re: Poly Digit

Looking through the manual, I don't see any pre-made modulation algorithms? Chorus, flange, phase, etc. So I guess if you want chorus you build your own with a delay line and LFO? I'm wondering it this can really replace something like a high end rack unit. Load in actual reverb IRs from say Eventid...

Re: Attention, Zoom effect pedal owners...

Pretty cool, the MS-70CDR is worth having even without the hack. But being able to access even more algorithms is nice.
Personally I think Zoom's distortions and amp sims are not that great though. I had a G3n for a short time and didn't like it. But worth trying if they are "free".

Just don't think its much of a difference to call it something I'd want to purchase.
I have reverbs I like already, and MI Clouds for other crazy stuff. So I'm not in a rush to buy this. But if I didn't have those things, it would probably be an instant buy.

Re: Would you pay a yearly sub to join a gear lending library?

I actually forgot the public library, which is funny since I work there, but Helsinki City Library has a new central library that has a free studio room for use free of charge. The library at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) has synths you can check out, along with other gear like effects pe...

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

It seems like every listing gets a dozen lowball offers. Retail has proven that people are a lot happier feeling like they got a deal. I have not had much of a problem with lowball offers, and I think it's because I price everything for a fair and quick sale. If it's priced correctly, it won't be a...

Yamaha Reface CS is perfect for this. It sounds excellent, is extremely simple to use, but has a wider palette of sounds than what you might think based on just looking at it.

Re: Channel strip in a pedal?

I had the Colour Box v2 for a while. The EQ is excellent, and the preamp/distortion is a very specific sound. So listen to demos and make sure that sound is what you want. For bass I'd also recommend checking out the Ampeg SCR-DI. It could be a "do it all" single pedal solution. https://www.sweetwat...

I ordered an LC9V case and I am just going to get a mixer module, an output module, and a reverb module for now. The price for all of this is pretty much identical to the cost of the mixer+cables+effects pedal Hehe, congrats on starting your modular journey, it's exciting stuff. But a fair warning,...

Yeah the "im going to write an RTOS" ~2 months out from estimated ship is weird. I mean, in terms of writing OSs, doing an RTOS isnt that hard but its still not something you pick up lightly, particularly so close to ship time. The post just says "We've decided to implement an RTOS..." It does not ...
