Re: Brexit and the future of Oakley Sound

USA doesn’t charge import duty for anything under $800, so there shouldn’t be any changes here.

Things are probably going to sit in customs for a month, but that’s been the situation for quite awhile.

Re: Audioweevil08

Apparently, you just made one sell for $450. I’m not seeing it on Reverb now. Wish I could sell mine with a clean conscience. It effectively cost me a lot more than $450 - it was part of a package deal that I wouldn’t have gotten involved with if I could have bought the Weevil separately. I sold the...

Re: Sequencer for the visually impaired

Archangel also has a few other modes that are more interesting than straight Pressure Points stuff. Far more playable. The keyboard is a lot of fun even if you ignore the sequencer. You can run them independently. http://www.det3.net/products/archangel Hit the ‘features’ tab to see all of the wonder...

Re: Jomox ALPHA BASE

A Jomox / Gotharman collaboration could be the best thing ever. id rather see jomox collaborate with elektron or cirklon. Either of those would be super cool, but Gotharman also makes killer sequencers. Plus the craziest digital effects I’ve ever seen. He also has the best customer support of all t...

Re: Sequencer for the visually impaired

The Detachment 3 - Archangel could be a start. That looks like a solid piece of kit! Doesn't seem easy to get a hold of, at least in the UK. Reverb has it and the keyboard at £1.4K. Ouch :-) Archangel is very similar to a 4x Pressure Points/Brains setup, but waaaay cooler. And it has super-sensitiv...

Re: QuNexus - Kickstarter for mini keyboard with CV I/O

I’ve been using it for triggering layers within Auddict’s PercX. Fits nicely in front of my laptop, and the toggle on/off mode works great when auditioning layers in PercX. But I’m not even using velocity, let alone position or CV stuff. I assume that all still works fine, but can’t say that I’ve tr...

Re: Jomox ModBase09 MKII

Best option is to wait for the mkII. New price apparently varied from $429 to $469. It’s totally worth that. If the mkII stays in pretty much the same range, I’ll buy one. I haven’t tried a ModBase 09, but the kick on Alpha Base is amazing. It thumps like nothing else, but the real trick is that it ...

Re: Jomox ModBase09 MKII

The used price went nuts because of eBay/Reverb silliness. Seemed to follow the typical pattern- one hopeful/deluded seller posts something slightly rare with a “buy it now” that’s waaay higher than the thing is actually worth. Then it sits there for a month with no buyers, but everyone sees it. Sel...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

Barry has been following the tracking, and sent me a message apologizing for the apparent holdup in Germany. I didn’t message him first- he’s actually watching all the tracking, and sent me a message when he saw it going wrong. I think that level of involvement is pretty amazing- most people would j...

Re: New AKAI "FORCE" standalone MPC / grid controller

Yeah, Force is awesome. Really looking forward to the update. There’s supposed to be a greatly expanded USB-MIDI setup like the recent MPCs got, where you can plug in a USB hub and then add a whole mess of MIDI devices. Plus an arranger mode. And a drum synth.. I just emailed this to a friend an hou...

Re: Sequencer for the visually impaired

The Detachment 3 - Archangel could be a start. It has 4 rows of CVs, adjustable from 1-16 steps. Or they can be chained as 2x32 or 1x64. All these options are available simultaneously on separate jacks. When the “Huffer” expander gets released, you‘ll be able to chain as many Huffers as you want to ...

Re: Knitted covers for musical gear

That sounds about right. Yep, liquid soaps and hand sanitizers were the worst. I kinda suspected Triclosan- that’s an antibacterial agent that was being wildly overused until the FDA told everybody to knock it off. But it could just as easily be glycerin. Made my own ‘hand sanitizer’ after Covid hap...

Re: Knitted covers for musical gear

I wish there was a solution to keys getting gunky but the fact is no matter what you do, your fingers have oils and stuff on them and there’s no solution other than just cleaning them regularly. Ten minutes a week... whether you use a dust cover or not. No big deal really though. Maybe just wash yo...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon

If the rack is a type where you have access to the inside and you don’t want to waste rackspace with jacks, you can move the whole jack panel from the back to the bottom of the unit. With the jack field hidden inside the rack, it only takes up 3U and you can mount stuff right next to it.

Any idea how much the Electra One costs?
There was a €50 discount for preorders, which were €379. Plus €29 shipping to USA.

So the September batch should cost €429 plus shipping unless something has changed.

Re: New to Eurorack/synths in general

Seems like you don’t hate screens/computers.. I started my modular journey with a Nord Micromodular. I still think that’s the perfect ‘first modular’. If you can find one for cheap, it’s a very flexible way to get into a modular mindset without needing to buy lots of modules. Pulling things off the ...

Re: Future Retro XS expansion

:agree: :vcas:

I particularly like the WMD DVCA because it has a zero-crossing feature. You can get ridiculously punchy instant-on bass stuff while still avoiding clicks at the beginning of each note. With a normal VCA, you’d need to add a bit of attack to your envelope in order to hide the click.

Re: Future Retro XS expansion

Welcome to the forum! If I were doing this, I’d start with a Pamela’s New Workout for LFOs. Then maybe add a Xaoc Zadar for more modulation. But I use a lot of tempo synced LFO stuff- Batumi is probably better than Pam if you like unsynced or modulated LFOs. The XS and Odessa will have enough output...
