Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer Launching Soon on Kickstarter

This module was incredible in its original form. All the stuff you’ve added since is even more spectacular. I’ve never seen this kind of forum-suggested ‘feature creep’ be so wholeheartedly embraced by a module designer. You are a saint. Thank you for being so awesome and bringing this beautiful thi...

Re: Superlative SB-1 - SH-101 Style Rechargable Synth

Patina is apparently super sexy now. If you’re right, then actually playing the thing might make it more valuable to future snobs. :hihi:

I kinda doubt they’d do something that would show wear so quickly. They’ve gone way beyond what was needed (or practical) to make it beautiful.

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer Launching Soon on Kickstarter

It would be awesome if this thing had the option to run at ‘24 pulses per quarter note’ for people who can supply that.

24ppq is the same as ‘DIN Sync’, and is well supported by tons of modules. Far more precise than 16th note clock..

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer Launching Soon on Kickstarter

Another option would be for you to tell it what tempo you’re planning to run at, and for it to believe you until it has heard 2 or 3 clock pulses that it can average together. Alternately, you could give it a tempo and set it to run on internal clock, use a pulse on the clock input to start it, and ...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer Launching Soon on Kickstarter

A sequencer that only outputs 16th notes works fine when starting on the first pulse of a 16th note clock. This thing can create ridiculously faster things than 16th notes, so it needs to ‘learn’ the tempo before outputting anything. Otherwise, it will output a garbled mess (or nothing at all) until...

Re: Re:

I read somewhere that the keys are totally normal, and definitely not soft/rubbery at all. They just look funny on camera because they’re all-black and have a slope at the hinged end. I’m probably remembering the designer’s reply to a similar observation in the Kickstarter comments section. Maybe he...

You know that's not how lithium batteries work right? Even if never used they still have about a five year shelf life. I am aware that the lifespan in storage isn’t infinite, but 5 years seems overly pessimistic. Storing them halfway-charged in a cool, dry place (not a refrigerator!) will provide t...

Looks cool! Seems like you have far better things to do than making adaptations of old Mutable modules. Re: RADIATOR live performance laser synth now on Kickstarter

Yeah, I just saw that. Apparently I’m not the only one who assumed that the ‘vector render’ thing that’s in the LZX pipeline had somehow gotten rolled into Chromagnon just because Chromag has ILDA input and lots of outputs. HDMI output from Radiator is fine for now- I’m trying to delay buying a lase...

Re: RADIATOR live performance laser synth now on Kickstarter

One day left for the 15% off pre-order: https://www.neoncaptain.com/store.html It looks like actually using a laser with Radiator is completely optional at this point. The stretch goal for getting ‘Laser Visualizer’ direct video out was achieved, plus it seems like the ILDA output could just be run ...

Re: When did you realize you were a modular aficionado?

I suspected when I saw a demo of human voice into a pitch shifter / vocoder on a PBS kids show when I was just an anklebiter. ‘321 Contact’, perhaps? I was pretty sure when I started messing around with non-realtime ‘rendering’ modular stuff in Windows 95. I crossed the event horizon 15 minutes afte...

I don’t see any mention of MPE.

MPE got added into the 002 firmware after it had been on the market for awhile. So if it isn’t there now, it might appear later.

Re: Ciat-Lonbarde Knob Upgrade?

The knobs are recessed into the wood so deeply that tightening set screws would likely be impossible.

I suppose one could try to take the wood off, but I’ve never done that to CL stuff. Sounds like a task that’d be worth avoiding..

Re: Ciat-Lonbarde Knob Upgrade?

Yep, same as Hexinverter knobs- just gray instead of black. I believe that makes them a ‘Reverse D-shaft’. They’re the opposite of WMD knobs, anyway. WMD is also borderline too short and fits quite loose on this Coco. Intellijel-style is a bit taller, fits nice, and you can make the pointer aim any ...

Re: Ciat-Lonbarde Knob Upgrade?

I don’t know for sure, but those knobs look like the ones Hexinverter uses. If that’s the case, then they’re D-shaft knobs- but with the pointer aimed in the opposite direction of most other D-shaft knobs.

I’ll check into it and post again when I know more..

The hardware is stunningly beautiful. Slightly smaller than I was expecting, and much heavier. I can’t open the .dmg file that contains the Mac software. Guessing it’s in APFS format, which can’t be opened by Sierra or earlier. I’m still on El Cap. I’ll build a newer ghost OS on an external drive wi...

36 hours to go, and it’s almost up to $6000.

$5000 was the threshold for a module version to become more likely, so things are looking good.. :tu:

Anything this can do (in terms of the feedback trail) not seen on something like the Vidiot? Absolutely. There will be “8 knobs, 8 sliders, and rather a lot of buttons” on the MIDI controller, all mapped to do crazy things. There are already features like a ‘chaotic colorizer’ and some fractal good...
