Re: Great table lamps - give me your ideas!
You could always upgrade your existing lamps, or find cool stuff to upgrade at any resale shop. There’s a whole ecosystem of LED lights that use these remote controls: CC01F97E-0A65-4A4D-807A-E90BDE047853.jpeg There are lots of bulbs that screw into standard fixtures, plus some high-intensity weathe...

I’ll be building a pair of these soon: https://synthcube.com/cart/clacktronics-euro-speaker-kit I try not to wear headphones unless it’s absolutely necessary. Earbuds make my brain itch, and headphones aren’t much better. I want to familiarize myself with new sequencer modules and whatnot without d...

Re: best audio recorder right now?
The iPad app for the Zoom F8 is pretty awesome. Makes it so the thing doesn’t have to be taking up space on your desk. Once you turn the F8 on and enable Bluetooth, you probably won’t need to touch it again until you power down. You can use the threaded mounting point to put it on a stubby tripod un...

Re: Did anyone start big and no regrets?
Jumping in cold or already having useful experience with something like a Nord Modular are totally different things. Going big seems pretty natural if you’re coming from a Nord background. Pretty sure Euro wouldn’t have happened like it did without Nord. It might have puttered around as a niche thin...

Re: Roland support nightmare- I need a knob!
Yeah, sounds like the best thing to do is just take good pictures of the cat nibbles and try to sell it as-is. Preferably along with a picture of the cute, furry culprit.. I fetched my friend’s TR8s anyway, and will see if any of the ‘standard knobs’ look good with it. I could post pics tomorrow if ...

Re: Roland support nightmare- I need a knob!
AFAIK, Roland has been using their own custom knob designs since the late 90s. I’d be amazed to find them on Mouser. Syntaur is probably going to be your best bet. They have parts for all kinds of synths- might be worth asking your friends if they need anything and would be willing to split the ship...

Re: Current status of US Customs fees?
UPS hit me with fees for something from Canada that was well under the $800 limit, so it’s probably wise to avoid using UPS in both directions.

Re: Roland support nightmare- I need a knob!
Kinda looks like it might be the same knob as the encoder on a TB-3. If it’s really the same part, Syntaur has them for $9.95:

I have no idea what shipping to Moscow would cost, but perhaps Syntaur has enough other stuff that you need to make it worthwhile..

Re: Roland support nightmare- I need a knob!
It’s convenient that there’s only one knob like that, so it doesn’t really need to match anything. Any black d-shaft knob that’s about the right size should look pretty good.
I’ll go get my friend’s TR8s and see if any of the standard things work well. I’ll have pics for you in a couple of days.

Keanu Reeves has not been deployed. Sometimes I think I’m super funny when I’m really just properly drunk.
Orders will go out in order. With mine near the end. If you buy one now, I guess I won’t be at the end any more. Yay?

(real shame about those FB posts, oh well.) Facebook is a disease. And I’m guessing that very few of us have actually seen the posts in question. I certainly haven’t. Maybe don’t burn the witch just yet? There are reasonable arguments to be made that the COVID lockdowns were arbitrary, capricious, ...

If we hire Keanu Reeves to assassinate all of the people who ordered earliest, does that mean the rest of us will get our SP-2400s faster?

Re: Adapting the EuroRack audio world for video synthesis
I'm curious what a setup capable of doing voltage controlled cuts between input sources would look like. If you’re ok with using MIDI instead of CV, the Edirol mixers would be worth a look. V4, V8, V440HD, and V4EX.. I haven’t used a V4EX, and haven’t done very much with MIDI yet on the other 3. Bu...

Welcome to the forum! Have you tried the iPhone app called EFEKT? Used to be called DEFEKT or somesuch, but it was recently renamed. Suggesting an iPhone app when you asked about analog video synths makes me feel a bit silly, but it has a bunch of effects that seem like the kind of things you’re thi...

The click or pop happens right as they key is pressed and before the transient Not every time, but often enough Do you have the attack time on your amp envelope set really low? I don’t have an Iridium, but I know the Microwave XT could do this. The VCA envelope opens so fast that you can catch a wa...

Most types of Bluetooth have an annoying-to-unusable amount of latency for anything other than passive listening. You’d want to make that sure both the transmitter and receiver are using something like this: https://www.aptx.com/aptx-low-latency Wires are your friends. I’ve been on the hunt for a Bl...

Yes, I’m a very patient person. After considerable frustration, I warned that I would create an online shitstorm if they kept ignoring me. So here we are. Also, I thought they went out of business, and that there would be no point in beating a dead horse. But now the horse suddenly seems to be alive...

Pretty sure I’m never going to see the modules. Even if I did, they would be forever tainted by this whole mess. And they’re largely irrelevant now anyway- they would have been fantastic when I was getting started, but I have more modules now. It’s mostly just a warning. Module manufacturers are som...

It’s being brought up now because an unrelated topic reminded me of how much unreasonable crap I put up with. I’m a very patient person, sometimes to my detriment. I donated to a cause- maybe more than I should have. Partly because there were prizes. That’s how raffles work.
If you want to look at it that way- Bubblesound stole from not only me, but from everyone who participated in the raffle.

Re: Modular as Sample Source for DnB
If you’re going to do bass in modular - especially sub - a WMD DVCA will be very helpful. The zero crossing detector will get rid of key click for you when you’re using a smooth predictable waveform like sine or triangle. That way, you won’t lose punch by needing to hide the click behind a slow atta...
