Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

I would argue that buying used means less resources being used to make another of the same product meaning less waste in the future.

Ground loop in RME Babyface with Nintendo Switch

I don't know if this belongs here but here it goes. Sometimes I like to break up music making or work with a little Zelda so I play on my computer monitor. I have my RME Babyface connected to the same computer as my monitor. I'm trying to figure out a solution to get my Zelda audio out of my RME Bab...

Apologies about the previous post. Messy as I'm just moving stuff in to the finished studio.
I like your setup quite a lot! It's so clean and it looks like you have a Pittsburgh Voltage Research Laboratory! I would love to try that.

Overemphasizing use of DAW

So I've been working with a basic setup, pro one, evolver and digitakt with Ableton. I had a nice little groove working as one does when feeling creative. I recorded it. Then the next day I thought I'd try to add variety by filling in with an Ableton drum rack. However whenever I do this I find my m...

Odd you continue attacking me. You just edited this comment now deleting "I wonder why" (I didn't call out the racist commentator) at the end of your statement implying that I'm racist because I chose to ignore the racist and classist posts. I detest the racist remarks made by the other commentator ...

IMG_20200810_151316.jpg I am slowly unpacking my apartment and got a little time to clean the studio up. Now the wires are bothering me! I've been tryed using an Ikea Alex on their desk to rest their monitors on? It looks like they only have it in black or white so it may clash with the desk but I ...

Thank you mods for removing the offensive commentary by Red Electric Rainbow. Demeaning personal attacks have no place here. We all have the right to post videos like this here. This isn't twitter. The extreme reaction to the video and auction is interesting/surprising/weird. Synths are luxury goods...

Re: Is this pro or anti Korg Jupitor 106?

I never thought posting this video would evolve into rants about trust fund kids not being able to clean dishes. I just found the price that they were selling their broken juno for on reverb to be hilarious - $389.53. I know that price seems high for a synth soaked in acetone, stuffed into a toilet ...

Re: Your sparse studio

I just moved to a new house and fortunately I have a little studio room. I want to have a minimal kind of aesthetic to not overwhelm myself when I'm in my studio. In my previous apartment tried to set up as many synths as possible. However, I found it to be too much and got distracted really easily ...

Re: Looking for laptop recommendations

I've been using thinkpads for about 12 years now. They've outlasted every macbook I've ever had. I think the main difference is you don't have to pay for a shiny apple logo and if you have a vehicle you can use it to drive over your laptop. Incidentally, ever since my macbook died I have been banish...

Re: mutable instruments for ambient (new system - new to modular)

I was having this urgency of wanting to sell the Juno because I am moving across country soon. I feel like the consensus is that I should keep the Juno which I strongly feel myself for the time being. It's funny when you go through times of wanting to sell something and then you sit down with it aga...

Re: mutable instruments for ambient (new system - new to modular)

The only reason that the Juno 106 is for trade right now is because I have a Juno 60 and there is just so much crossover between the two that I personally like the 60 more. I feel like I may be in a better position to buy in the future putting together a eurorack system piecemeal after trying variou...

Re: mutable instruments for ambient (new system - new to modular)

I was actually hoping to get about $1500 value given my Juno is in really good condition and has new analogue renaissance voice chips. It's not your average beat up old crappy voice chip Juno you see on craigslist. I haven't tried VCV Rack before but am about to download it. Thanks for the tip! I gu...

Re: mutable instruments for ambient (new system - new to modular)

Thanks for the advice Agawell. I was using used prices based on ebay for all of the used mi clones in usd: nano rings clone 170 plaits clone 225 ripples clone 120 marbles clone CARA 250 jak plugg monsoon (clouds clone) 220 I'd be trading all of this for a Juno 106 with new voice chips. Some patch ca...

mutable instruments for ambient (new system - new to modular)

I'm about to step into the modular world. I want to start making some ambient music with a new setup. I have a possible trade right now and here are the modules which are mostly mutable instruments clones: It's this minus the Mangrove and Ansible: image1.jpeg pulp logic zissou 54 hp case output jack...

Could you make a decent euroack from a combo of these modules?

I don't own any eurorack modules but was thinking about getting into it. I have a potential trade and these are the modules they have available. I'm looking for something to maybe get some interesting ambient music and perhaps with a smaller footprint. I just want it to compliment a few of my vintag...

Re: Novation SL MKIII - lacks Ableton Live 9 support

Hi John! I actually was using Live 10 Lite but it's really limited. You have 8 tracks max and only 8 clips per track. It was nice to see but after using Live 9 Live 10 Lite is a serious downgrade. I just wish Novation was a little more transparent in your marketing. You make it seem like it's the "p...

Re: Novation SL MKIII - lacks Ableton Live 9 support

I actually installed Live 10 and found the Midi Script for SL MKIII with all the python files. I copied the folder into the Live 9 section to see if it would work to no avail. I just want to be able to launch clips, start/pause/record/etc. I don't think it would be that difficult to get this impleme...

Novation SL MKIII - lacks Ableton Live 9 support

I just bought at Novation 49SL MKIII this midi controller which I have to say is pretty cool. It's touted as the perfect controller for Ableton Live. The real down side of it is that Novation didn't write script to support Ableton Live 9. I find this odd as any basic controller (I previously had an ...

Thanks everyone for your suggestion so far. One question, do you think my external Kenton Midi to CV kit will be necessary in a eurorack setup if I go this route? I basically used it previously for my Pro One but now it has midi.

Ambient - starter eurorack

I've been synthing for many years now but have started to feel modular may be real. I have a Juno 60, Pro One, Juno 106, Digitakt, and DSI Evolver module, and a Kenton Midi to CV converter. I actually had more synths but have decided less is more for me. I'm thinking of selling the Juno 106 since th...
