Re: Have you a bedside synth?

As of late it's just been a laptop with my modular recordings loaded into touch designer. Yay for learning.

Re: Chord modules vs playing keys

It's a pretty different experience actually, for various reasons, one of which is, as you'd imagine, that it can go to completely different directions to what you'd do while you're in front of the keyboard. I'd say based on your description I've got a similar level of piano experience and this ring...

Re: Repeatability of patch

This has been in my head recently, as I did a 1 minute Instagram patch that I wish I would have recorded into a full song. At some point I'm going to attempt to recreate a similar patch, I'll report back.

I find myself really lazy like that, i should probably sell these things lol.. i just want to turn on my case and that's it, then i have like a big "screen" of modules, no need to switch place or anything like that, i can more easily immerse myself into music making when i have this layout it seems...

Re: Introducing Maestro - 6 channel clocked modulation controller from Acid Rain Technology

what traditional modules would this replace? A lot. Six channels of clock synced lfos where you can chain and modulate the type of wave and division on a per step basis. To do this with 4 channels you'd need something like the 4ms qcd and two quadraxes. One for the envelope/lfo and one to modulate ...

This makes me wonder, when I'm old and infirm, will people go around correcting things I said in my youth that weren't even wrong at the time I said them?

Re: Help with 1st case, Aruturia? MakeNoise skiff? Mantis?

The doepfer looks pricier than the tiptop mantis hp for hp. What you’re paying for is a better power supply. Also worth mentioning that the Mantis is shallower, which means you may have trouble mounting some chonkier modules, or ones with boards perpendicular to their panels. Gonna have to disagree...

Re: Does everyone eventually have to get a Maths?

Have a function for the slew feature, it works the way it’s intended. Imo the pots are absolutely awful though, so a maths will not be making it into my rig. The slightest touch and the knob moves, as with all make noise stuff I’ve used. I assume it’s a choice by MN, but I’ll take the cheap pots fro...

several loud Loughs in a row ! :goo: , though you have to be confident enough what are you doing. thought that was the job of the manufacturer, no ? While this isn't in the same industry, at my job we have an incredibly hard time getting LEDs that are consistent. When I say inconsistent, I mean som...

Re: Hard case for Tiptop Mantis? For traveling?

Get a pelican. I have a couple 1610s and it fits the mantis with just enough room for padding on the side and plenty of room for accessories above or below where the mantis would sit. Hope it helps! Did you buy the one with slats of padding and then cut them to fit the Mantis? I was looking at the ...

Re: 1U Tiles - Did Intellijel bribe all these manufacturers or what?

There was no technical reason to not use the PL format; nobody is putting 1U tiles in anything but a eurorack case so conforming exactly to 1U height is an arbitrary decision. They introduced a slightly different format to push a competitor out of the market, they're not the first business to do it...

Re: Music you sort of get but can't get get into

Saying you don't like jazz is like saying you don't like rock or pop. It's such a huge genre with so much variation, it's can't really be nailed down like that. It's perfectly acceptable to say you don't like rock or pop though and you would know what someone means. I've disliked anything/everythin...

Re: Our answer to modular polyphony: Supercritical Synthesizers

Maybe you meant digital? Unless there are AD or sample rate converters there would be no aliasing, so no would be a safe assumption. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong though. Temporal aliasing is still possible when the timing of an analog circuit is controlled by a digital circuit that can only...

Re: Our answer to modular polyphony: Supercritical Synthesizers

Is there any pathway in the Demon Core Oscillator or Expander that converts the signal from an analog signal to a virtual analog signal? For example on the oscillator there is a DCO which is an analog signal, but it then gets routed into some circuitry that creates 16 different voices that can have...

Same, I gotta get a 100 grit. Here’s a video of Angle Grinder making quick work of BIA, all of the growling and feedback is BIA/AG.

Re: Schlappi modules

I have Angle Grinder and Interstellar radio as well, they are both glorious. Angle Grinder I usually use to process audio and make my NE modules sound even crazier. But it can be an oscillator, filter, waveshaper, feedback/distortion, or a quad modulator. Interstellar radio is essentially a non-volt...

Got mine a few days ago, really hate the jacks. So much so that I considered returning it. Played with it for a few days, I absolutely love the sound, so it's staying.
