Re: Verbos Noise & Filter or SSF Quantum Rainbow 2?

I love QR2. Having all those flavors on tap really opens up how I use noise. This reminds me I need to adjust Quanta, it's very quiet on my module right now.

I like it's size and utter simplicity too.

Re: Noise Engineering Mimetic Digitalis

I hardly ever actually program my MD step by step. I slam the shred combos until I get something I like or just wiggle the knob while it's running to get general motions. I use it more often for general CV rather than pitch though. Honestly I do this too. I like to use Reset ("Origin" on the MD) wi...

Re: Need more inputs: mixer vs ADAT vs patchbay

I like patchbays a lot, same reason as Flounderguts - flexibility! They allow you to run thing through other things, without going in/out of the interface. No additional latency issues either. I currently use 96-point TT patchbays, and can recommend the Redco versions, which you can find for around ...

Re: xenophone analog synth???

Considering picking one of these up, seems very versatile, and rough enough to feed my eurorack filters :D

I like to keep my studio pretty dim. Can anyone comment on how legible the panel text is in low light, on either white or black versions?

Re: Noise Engineering Mimetic Digitalis

To clarify, MD runs one sequence. But that sequence can output 4 channels of CV. But again, there is only one master sequence, so it's not an independent 4 channel sequencer. Ah okay... Hmm gonna have to take a Closer look then! All 4 sequences respond to the same clock input, advancing one step pe...

Re: Noise Engineering Mimetic Digitalis

Just to be extra clear, MD doesn’t automatically create arpeggios for you in any way, you would have to go in and program each note in the arpeggio.

6 disting ex, done

seriously though, play with it till you find you cant do something, then buy a thing that fits the bill, if it doesnt, sell it and try again..
This is the best advice.

Re: Logic Pro vs Ableton for eurorack

Perhaps you missed the continued significant Logic development over the last few years. Perhaps you missed 10.5 which for a smaller company might be the core of their entire product. Perhaps you just decided not to like Apple. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter - DAWs are tools, and are intens...

Re: Logic Pro vs Ableton for eurorack

I switched from Logic to Ableton recently. Logic is more powerful, but more difficult to use. Logic’s stock effects sound better than Ableton’s - they sound fantastic. Automation in Logic offers more powerful controls but you have to learn all the commands and map keys and such, while Ableton’s is l...

Re: How do you use your Eurorack?

I use it in a variety of ways. I make kicks with it, and hats, and I make stabs/single-shot samples with it. I sometimes record ideas or themes from it and use them for the basis of other things. I use it to play all kinds of parts in larger compositions, sequenced by Cirklon or Live - with varying ...

Probably about 6 months. I'm getting close to being 'finished' again though - I have one more module to get, and maybe swap one LFO for another, then... I'm not really sure what else I'd want to add.

But I'm sure I'll figure out something :D

Re: Sequentix Cirklon

I spent a lot of time with Cirklon earlier this year, but then I got into a creative space where I was focussed much more on sound design using only the modular. It seems my subconscious was hard at work during that time, because I went back to Cirklon this past weekend, and everything just 'clicked...

If I remember right, LMNTL and Black Market cables are made by the same manufacturer, just different branding.
That's great to hear, thanks!

Caltrans or endorphin.es Autopilot.

Or just buy a bunch of Angle Grinders, which has unbelievable tuning stability - it never drifts at all as far as I can tell.

Re: If you were starting over; what would you do differently?

@revtor that makes sense. The flexibility and limitations are what make the patch-programmable concept so interesting for me, but yeah a dedicated full-featured module will do more. It did take me years to wrap my head around though.

so far I’m Euro only, but Serge is probably not far off.
