Re: Help me fill 6HP!

Take this with a super-huge grain of salt, but what about a Shifty? It's 6 HP, could be interesting and a nice compliment.

Re: Today my small discovery was...

Recently I shipped something from Missouri to Louisiana, and it went to New Hampshire first. And my spouse ordered something from California, it came to St. Louis, and then they sent it off to Ybor City, Florida for a couple of days before returning it to St. Louis. For me; LA to Newark, stay...

Re: Today my small discovery was...

My small discovery today is that the US mail system is A) very disorganized, and B) slow, probably due to Covid.

Not so much a discovery as a rant I guess :)

I make a bunch of different stands for small synths (see URL in my sig).
I checked your website and I'm not sure if it would work. The size seems perfect but I don't see any way to connect nor brace the synth based on my stand.

Need help re: stand for synth

Hello all, I picked up a minibrute. It's a cute little devil but I got a small little problem; the stand. I have full keyboard with large stands, but they're much too big for the minibrute. Currently it's sitting on a table, and that's no good long-term either. Suggestions? Also while I'm thinking o...

I'm not sure this is 'dark' but I like Domenico Scarlatti, and would recommend him. This is one I just played not too long ago:

Watchen das Blinkenlight

I had a quick question re: a little goal for one module. Is there a module out there that has lots and lots of das Blinkenlight? I ask as I wanted at least one module with way too many Blinkenlight if possible.

IMHO, Knurlies (with their captive washers) are the way to go. Not cheap, but then again modules aren't cheap.
What size? Do you have a part number?

Re: BEGINNERS - What have you always found to be poorly explained?

West coast v East coast is most broadly defined as creating timbre from 'direct' manipulation of oscillator outputs, vs creating timbre by subtracting portions of a waveforn using a filter. This is what I mean :) I've read this and seen a few video's, but for example, if you were to take me to the ...

Re: BEGINNERS - What have you always found to be poorly explained?

1) East coast vs. West Coast (I'm used to subtractive synthesis, but trying to think outside the box) 2) As a beginner, one thing that I would like to see, which isn't mentioned here (I think it was sort of actually), is stuff on manufacturers. For example, take two bigger ones for now: Doepher and ...

Re: Question re: Serge

Do the Eurorack-sized Serge modules still need the banana plugs and are they 3U? Is there any functional difference between the 3U and 4U modules or are the electronics the same?

Question re: Serge

Hello all. Generic question and I'm sorry for that, but what is Serge? I've researched it online, looks neat, but why would I use it instead of Eurorack? Can I use it with Eurorack/are they compatible?

If this has all been asked before (quite likely), is there a post thereof?

Trying to learn.

The question is, how did it happen? Is this module or cable likely to be responsible and could it potentially cause damage to another power board?

Re: Is the cost of a module worth it?

It depends how much you want to synthesize “from the ground, up”. Ex: complex osc - you could get the same functionality that a dpo or verbos complex osc provides by acquiring individual functions (2 osc, vcas, attenuverters, wavefolders etc...). It’s all about real estate and whether you want all ...

Is the cost of a module worth it?

I'll give an example from what I'm looking at right now, and that's oscillators. For example, one of the oscillators I'm thinking of getting is a Dixie 2+ ($230), and another longer-shot is a Verbos Foundation ($510). I like the Verbos, but is the price difference worth it? I know my question is par...

Has anyone else ever painted themselves into a similar corner? If so, what did you do, and did it work for you? I play very good slow, melodic piano. Re: Eurorack Beginner

Great insight here. It truly is paramount to have SOME kind of specificity to your approach. Even if its broad, you should have a goal in mind with your system, what does YOUR instrument need to do for YOU? Although I know in advance my question will be vague, how does one define a 'specificity' or...
