Re: Instagram synth videos?

I was able to connect my Native Instruments Audio 10 interface to my Android phone. I used a weird little cable from micro USB (into the phone) to female USB in which you plug the sound card's USB cable. It's called USB OTG (on-the-go). My audio interface is class compliant and does not need any aud...

Re: Secret weapon processing (plugins/hardware)

TAL audio bitcrusher plugin for hihats. It's a free and tiny little plugin but has just the right controls to make any hihat fit into dance music.

Re: What's your patch sampling work flow?

I record a lot into the octatrack, which i configured to overwrite the recording every 4 bars. So I can record for as long as I want, but when I stop the recording I only have the last 4 bars and not a big file. Seemed limited at first, but my process is a lot faster that way.

Fold out an LED so it illuminates the rack from the side. There are small COB LED modules out there which are really flat.

Re: Specs of a Eurorack Clock Signal

Thank you for posting the SYNC spec! This gives good information about timing/speed . But thinking more about that, what about the slope of a clock signal? Should for example a slow sinewave also be recognized as a clock in a module? Sine accepted = module compares input voltage to a fixed voltage, ...

Re: Precision Adder

Thanks for sharing this! Have need for such a module but not gotten one yet. Do you have experience if it will keep its precision with other opamps like e. g. TL074 too? Or is the type of OpAmp critical? I would guess, that precision comes mainly from using buffered inputs and selecting matched resi...

Re: Arduino AD help

By the way, I see that you are trying to use "analog Write" which is simply Arduino's PWM. This is not going to work for a usable envelope, also with filtering behind it. PWM resolution too low, output signal noisy, etc... You should use a real DAC with at least 12 bits, and convert the signal to 0....

Re: Arduino AD help

In general, you need some sort of timer interrupt routine, in which you update the value of your DAC at a fixed sample rate. An exponential envelope takes the last value of your Env and multiplies it with a "factor" (which is usually very close but a little smaller or bigger than 1.0, depending if i...

Just from the size of the Zahl I wonder if it's stuffed with electronics or if there is just a lot of empty space inside... Also the first mixer to make me think of its power consumption.

Re: DIY or not DIY?

In my modular beginning days I saved a lot of money by building analogue modules by myself on strip board. Utility stuff such as level shifters or a mixer module is not rocket science. If you go with strip board, be sure to prototype everything on a breadboard first! Also for panels, I use a Proxxon...

Re: Live set up and Compressors

With my live setups, i tried several options over the last years (although most of it wasn't Eurorack but Octatrack-based). As i mainly play techno venues, there usually is no audio engineer (who really cares ;-)) Using an iPad App for mastering. Together with an audio interface such as the Alesis i...

Re: First Sequencer in eurorack or Octatrack?

I also love my OT as main sequencer. But yes, why not have a second sequencer in Eurorack. You could e.g. re-start patterns of the euclidean/whatever sequencer by a trigger from the OT and "glue it back together" that way (hard-sync :-D), or use some Midi-to-CV from the OT to define your base note o...

Re: Ocatrack and Assimil8tor owners...

Not sure if you can do this with the Octatrack, but you can use the Assimil8or with single cycle waveforms like a simple FM synth. Yes, the OT can do that. But you can only play it over 2 Octaves. Anyways, you have an Attack-Hold-Release Envelope for Volume and can put Effects behind it (e.g. also ...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

I built the circuit by myself, but i would rather call it "putting the building blocks together and playing around with some values" instead of "designing" ;-) This is a simple Saw-Core to get started: http://electro-music.com/forum/post-292718.html I derived the pulse/PWM from it by placing an op-a...

Re: Why is some techno good and some bad?

Especially with Techno music, the perception in a club is totally different than at home. From a DJ perspective, you can even play slow stuff in a club and can also play tracks which might seem boring otherwise. Due to the (hopefully) big soundsystem, small features of the track have a way bigger im...

Had this kind of experience with a Jomox T-Resonator MKII. I fell in love with the internal feedback overdrive on youtube videos, made a ton of samples for my tracks in one week, never touched it again.

Re: Modular Pod setup advice. Which Modules would you use?

No long time ago i had quite a similar choice to make for a Midi-to-CV + One voice setup on little space, with optimized bang-for-the-buck ratio. I ended up with: - Mutant Brain - Dreadbox Eudemonia (VCF + Mixer + VCA, can also be used as Sine Oscillator) - uBraids Oscillator (got a used one from eb...
