Re: Quadrax Krell

Hi, thank you for sharing this. Not sure I got it right or just didn't understand properly...but is it in anyway possible to create sample and hold with quadrax? I tried a few different things on my Quadrax. It didn't seem possible to me. But could be wrong. I think if you have some logic circuits ...

Re: plz bless me w/ ur wisdom veteran wigglers (build critique)

Instead of considering another VCA. It might be worth looking into something like disting or distingEX. These will add a lot of functionality to a system. Disting has a bunch of different algorithms filters, compressors, LFOs, rectifiers, and delays, just to name a few. It would let you explore a bu...

Re: Doepfer Vs all the rest

I don't really like the feeling while patching. Maybe the jacks are a little too tight and will loosen up over time but i have had it for a few months. Nothing major really mostly a bit of a nit pick.

Re: plz bless me w/ ur wisdom veteran wigglers (build critique)

My comments were more about optamix vs quad vca. If you are specifically looking for a lpg I think optamix is great. There is a slight difference between optamix v1 and v2. So if you are looking for used as well it’s something to be aware of. Generally buffered mults are only needed for pitch CV. If...

Re: plz bless me w/ ur wisdom veteran wigglers (build critique)

Optamix and quad vca have a bit of overlap. I would buy one and use it for a while before picking up the other. I don’t use low pass gates on my optamix very often so I would go for a quad vca first it will give you more mixing and attenuation options then optamix. Another option besides the quad vc...

Re: Doepfer Vs all the rest

I have a deopfer wasp. I really like the sound of it. But I hate the jacks on it. Are all the deopfer jacks like the wasp?

I don’t really avoid deopfer but a lot of their modules don’t look super exciting to me. I am looking at picking up their quad vco though. To do some more chords.

Re: Cwejman res-4

Not sure the @thingue works. I do it mostly out of habit. I think the only reason I saw the notification was because you quoted me. Sounds cool pretty cool. Yeah I found plugging in a vco into input and then running 4 different envelopes into level for each channel can get some organic/string type s...

Re: Cwejman res-4

I believe the frequencies end up being offsets if you plug something into master frequency. I just tested it out. This is nice because it allows you to patch pitch CV to frequency and plug your VCO into input and then each individual channel will always be relative to the master frequency. If they w...

Re: 2nd Maths or Quadrax + expander

I would go with quadrax. I have both and they are both great modules. Quadrax will offer you some different envelope shapes that are difficult to make with maths. Exponential rise and logarithmic fall or the other way around (I think you can do it with maths but takes both channels). You might not n...

Re: Grids VS Knight''s Gallop VS ....??

What do you mean by "kits of the beats"? Grids XY is kind of interesting. All of the different patterns are laid out on an XY grid. So with the pots or CV you can select the point on the XY grid that grids will play. Take a look at. https://mutable-instruments.net/modules/grids/manual/ the map image...

Re: Grids VS Knight''s Gallop VS ....??

A few other options you might also want to investigate VPME Euclidean Circles, Intellijel Steppy, dnipro Dot. I have a Grids and Steppy. I have recently taken the grids out of my system though. It's definitely cool but i never really jelled with it. Now i mostly use Steppy for constant beats or my k...

Re: NE Desmodus Versio versus Make Noise Mimeophon

One large difference between the two is Mimeophon can be a clocked delay. DV doesn't have a clock input so it's delay is free running and would have to be tuned by ear. I do have both modules though. They sit right next to each other. I really enjoy the weird reverb stuff that DV can do.

Re: ES-9 alternatives

I am thinking about getting rid of the ES-9 because i feel it's kind of wasted; i use it just as audio interface and nothing else: i have no idea how to use it as a panning mixer, as a standalone mixer, how to send clock and fx from Ableton, to multi-track record, how to connect external gear etc. ...

Re: ES-9 alternatives

Are you asking about usb audio interfaces? There are lots of different types. There are stand alone desktop boxes that can do multiple channels. Many new mixers with usb also support some kind of audio interface. What other requirements do you have? Es-9 is a great usb audio interface. I love mine. ...

Re: Need help designing a small percussion themed rack for my DFAM

For clocks I would recommend pamelas new workout. It’s a master or follower and has 8 outs with different dividers. But they also have different waveforms so you can use it for modulation as well. It has too many other features to mention. Not sure exactly what you are looking for but might be worth...

Re: Any small utility mults out there with both bufferred and unbuffered outputs?

I’m a bit confused. Do you need mults at all? Are you looking for something like a patch bay? It doesn’t sound like there is a need to have copies of the signals at all? Am I missing something?

Re: Precision Adder / Octave Switcher

Another option if you looking for an octave switch is NE Quant Gemi. Its also a mult which can be nice if you need to send pitch CV multiple places (like filters or whatever). I have mine sitting between two complex oscillators so to mult and switch octaves as needed.

Re: Quad envelopes

I have zadar and quadrax in my system. Both are great quad envelopes. I use quadrax as my main eg (closing and opening vcas). I use zadar more for modulation. Quadrax is more “playable” and immediate imo. Being able to tweak the nobs and change the linear/log/exp is great while working on a patch. Z...

Re: Mixer AND multitrack audio interface?

I agree with Agawell. The closest thing I can think of is es9. It doesn’t have faders on it. The es9 configuration software does have faders for mixing. You can also run it in standalone mode where it isn’t connected to a computer and mixes based on what you have previously configured. I have been u...

I haven't used the Contour 1. Joranalogue stuff is great though. Quadrax is my primary envelope generator. It's really immediate for most functions. I use the cascade feature a lot where a trigger on channel 1 will trigger channel 2 as well. CV configuration is a little complicated but i don't use i...

As long as you don't have a run away greenhouse effect where the case doesn't stop getting hotter you are probably fine. Re: Question about clock modules

Take a look at Pamela's New Workout. You can set the master time in BPM and then you have 8 outs all with there own: multiplier/divider/waveform. it can also do random, quantized random, euclidean rhythms on those 8 outs. Definitely worth checking out if you don't have the rest of the clock setup. I...
