Yeah, probably - depends on your perspective. But that Canare cable has a black sheath that might be confused with an insulation, but it's electrically conductive.

Re: Strategy for wiring three pin power socket and switch for PSUs
Yes. I normally tin the bared ends of the wires. Then fill the solder buckets on the socket with a bit of solder. Then re-apply heat to the solder bucket and slide the wire into place. Remove heat and that one is done. This is a great strategy, thanks. What about the power switch? From the part num...

Re: What is the currently recommended raw patch cable?
Did you have a reason to want the semiconductive layer? It makes assembling cables harder! No, not necessarily. I'm wanting to build cables for 1/4" to 1/8" so I can start building and mixing eurorack with 5U modules - I don't want to use an interface module. Richard's guide is really nice so I was...

I can't tell if this Mogami cable has the black conductive insulator like the other. It's a little bit cheaper.EATyourGUITAR wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 7:58 pmmaybe this

Strategy for wiring three pin power socket and switch for PSUs
I received my PSU boards today - along with the three pin power socket used with the Yamaha power adapters. I'm realizing that I don't know the strategy for wiring the power socket and power switch. Attached is a photo. Are these just simple solder-and-heat-shrink jobs? For example, do I just put th...

What is the currently recommended raw patch cable?
I'm planning on building some 1/8" to 1/4" patch cables and have been looking at Richard Brewster's guide here: http://pugix.com/synth/making-patch-cables/ He uses Canare GS-4 cable from here: https://www.redco.com/Canare-GS-4.html Before I move forward with anything I wanted to check and see if any...

Bet you cant guess my favorite color... I turned the overlay into a full front panel for my 1ru case The case I had is steel and has a vented top, not aluminum so I used separate heat sinks. Ive got the voltages correct, after that step I cant do much else. Unfortunately i dont own a scope or know ...

19inch Rack Cabinet Options
I'm wanting to order a 5U 19inch metal rack cabinet from here: http://www.allmetalparts.co.uk/156-5u-19-inch-stackable-cabinet-300mm-deep-5055726200574.html But I'm wondering if there are any similar option in the united states that aren't very expensive - just a simple metal, stackable, 5U 19inch r...

Re: Where to get thermal glue
From the spec linked above it says that this is non-bleeding. Does that mean that it will never run or "slide" or get on other stuff?

Re: Where to get thermal glue
the only thing I can say about it is that you could in theory find a better thermal compound that has more metal (higher conductivity) that would give you better thermal conductivity since the tempco resistors and the IC package are non-conductive. you would need to find a way to prevent the stuff ...

Re: Where to get thermal glue
are you looking for thermal compound or thermal adhesive? thermal potting material has really poor thermal conductivity. the best conductivity is a very thin application of thermal compound between two flat surfaces. do you mind telling more about what exactly you are trying to thermally couple to ...

Where to get thermal glue
I’ve run out of thermal glue and can’t find the same kind anywhere - it’s no longer manufactured.
Where can I get some good thermal glue - I’ve sometimes seen it called thermal epoxy - that can be used for the synth diy?

Re: A completed eurorack Dual VCO
An update: I just started the calibration process. So far these have been my favorite VCOs to calibrate - I have a couple of other branded VCOs. Having the TUN1 and SCL1 trimmers is really nice. This allows you to calibrate the 1v/oct settings without needing to fiddle with the front panel. I really...

ASV MU Knobs
Does anybody know where I can find parts number or a supplier for the MU style of the ASV module? Attached is a photo of what I'm referencing.
Is it possible to find genuine knobs or are there only replicas available these days?
Thanks.

Re: M4 Rings, FASTON Blades, Bootlace Connector Crimp Tools
The bootlace ferrules will need a special tool. Chinese made tools are now available at very cheap prices on Ebay. Some are better than others no doubt. The one I bought, a HSC8 6-4, seems to do job well. I got it from Ebay after seeing some positive reviews on YouTube about it. Faston blades and r...
