Re: Old EMS/Synthi Forum archive

Hopefully if the forum ever comes back people saying they miss it will be more active, the members participation was close to absolute zero during the last years before it was gone. I remember it was very quiet before it disappeared - the forum had reached that inevitable point where most questions...

Re: Bucha 275r - noise culprit found?

I finally bought double shielded cables to run to the tank - my breakout panel never worked (which is pretty shit as I bought it at a premium direct from Roman) so I'm running direct from the rca outs on the module... can't say I'm getting much of an improvement though maybe a little. I'll test mor...

Re: MEMS and The University of Illinois Buchla 200

The curve is very organic, I inferred it was a golden ratio, Fibonacci spiral-esque design. There is definitely some sort of perfection going on there, you just know when something is in harmony with nature. Also, for pure practical reasons a cabinet like that makes sense - yanking out patch cords ...

Re: MEMS and The University of Illinois Buchla 200

As an aside: does anybody have plans/dimensions for these side panels? We traced it while we were there! Our friend Leo is working on a mechanical drawing of the case. Yes!! This would be great - I’m planning to build a 70U version for my system, and all I had to go on so far were fuzzy pictures fr...

Re: Don Buchla Keyboard Magazine Interview

I remember reading the Keyboard interview in the 80’s, when I was just a child - Don seemed strange to me at the time, esoteric but fascinating, and I felt drawn to his machines and the philosophy behind them without quite understanding why. Reading it again as an adult it all makes perfect sense. T...

Re: Samodular cases screw dimensions

I have a Doepfer eurorack for my video synth that came with screws, those are too large for the Samodular boats. So if eurorack is 3mm, then my initial guess of 2.5 for the Samodular is probably correct. I just wish he would confirm it so I can order them.

Samodular cases screw dimensions

I just bought two boats from Samodular, and need to buy the proper size screws to fit the modules. I only ever used boats with Tinnermans before and these are a completely different size. Does anyone know the exact type and perhaps where to get them in Europe? Steffen is not answering pm’s or mail r...

Re: Sputnik 289 algorithms?

I would love to find this out as well, once and for all. Some of them are obvious, but others remain mysterious as to what they actually do, and the order of the algorithms don’t seem to match either of the 289 versions. I got it from Roman himself, and I guess I could ask him, but I would probably ...

Re: 277BLM PCB now available - 277BLM "zero-noise"

My 277r came with a system directly from Roman, and modulating the control input by cv or manually on that particular module sounded horrible, always with a sort of slew effect and a bouncing, cartoonish result. I thought maybe it was designed that way to mimic the sluggishness of say, changing the ...

OMG this module if fucking gorgeous! The noise is sublime :) Thanks for the help everyone! Great that you got it going! Re: 288V Explanation?

Assuming you have patched audio into one of the inputs, and a tinijax out of panel mix - the sliders do indeed control the taps, it reminds me a bit of the Ursa Major Sst282 where you create your delay manually. The ”audio/mute” switches will turn off the corresponding taps when set to middle. Plus ...

I finally tracked down a copy of this record for a decent price. Charles on the Buchla 200 and drum machines plus a singer/guitarist and bass player.

That is fantastic, didn’t know about that one.

Do you still offer raw aluminium boats as well?
On your website it looks like you only have 10u boats as a raw alternative, will you be phasing those out too?

Re: New wiggler here, have a few questions about the Easel

I can only recommend a built one from Papz - that thing works and sounds incredible. Earlier on I had a Bemi Easel, which I enjoyed, but the 208p I fell in love with, it has changed my approach even, very inspiring. To the OP - yes you may have to piece your Easel together. I already had a powered c...

Re: Switchcraft Tini-Jax overmolded cables availability?

I have yet to use Switchcraft Tiny-Jax, so far I've used BMM and Steffens. I have to say I much prefer the Samodular cables, somewhere I was reading that someone didn't like the metal, is this due to the fact that it could damage the panel? What are the characteristics of the switchcraft cables tha...

Interested for sure - would anyone else be interested in the blue barrel longest cable option?
Blue ones are probably what I need the most, I would love a couple more orange if that was possible...but blue for sure, and green.
