Re: Capturing inspiration

Various things I would keep in mind if I had enough time to spend on music to actually produce anything... Finish stuff even if it isn't perfect Try and work out how to make something sound like a complete track instead of just a l working on x bar loops. B sections, fills. Practice music theory,sca...

Re: Is this noisy enough to be considered noise, or is it something else?

I think it's pretty good if you can stay away from thinking in genres really... Genre names and conventions often function to halt creativity and create stagnant conservative ways of thinking in stead. I don't think this would be called noise, but if you keep trying to make things that appeal to you...

Re: Do high end mixers matter?

Do high end synths matter? Does high end outboard matter? Do high end microphones matter? I mean, technically you can do everything on an iphone now. There are actual differences in the specs of “high end” mixers to your typical pro-sumer mackie/a&h/behringer, etc. Whether or not those differences ...

Re: Sheesh....

I’ve noticed used Ciat-Lonbarde synths selling on Reverb for significantly more than they would cost new from Peter B. Just when I think there’s no way someone would pay that much, they are gone. Not many people play the long game. They see a youtube of a bit of gear that looks like it will transfo...

Didn't quite get her stuff till I heard it live... Sounded insane and futuristic in a way that I hadn't heard in electronic music for a long time... She had so much good work ahead of her, am fucking gutted as well. Rip

In a fully patchable semi modular though then that distinction makes less if any sense

Re: Ensoniq Lovers Unite

it’d be great if some big company bought the IP from creative and repackaged them in a modern hardware unit with a more accessible UI form factor. not that navigation is that bad, but it would be nice. *edited for the bang emoji being inserted somehow. Find it really depressing thinking about all t...

Re: Please Critique My First Rack

• "You can never have too many VCAs!" Bullshit. I have yet to use a single VCA in a patch (ditch your quad—Plaits doesn't need it). Wut? I just read your other thread showing your comparison of your huge row of VCAs, and you seem to have a few more VCAs like Frames and the Javelin and Mod deMix. So...

Re: First experiance with synth.....WOW!

Yeah you have enough here to learn lots and lots of stuff with... And potentially make excellent complete tracks if that's what you want. Anything extra will be way overkill at the moment... You can really learn those things inside out... Read the manuals, do the basics, approach things with an open...

Re: Gear you own multiples of.

Korg microSAMPLERs x2. I think that if I'm going to spend untold hours getting to know the microSAMPLER (e.g. reading the manual five times so far), and loading it to the gills with samples built into banks (240 samples so far), then I could do with a backup to be on the safe side. What started you...

Re: Is there a guide to using FM in modular?

FM is a complex topic. I love it myself, but there's so much to say. (Most of my current oscillators are digital, aside from having Angle Grinder or Ripples self-oscillate. That said, filters that oscillate often make great exponential FM carriers!) Some tips for exponential FM: - If you have both ...

Has anyone else experienced their Pro 3 just locking up and playing a single note? Even the master volume control doesn't work. I have to turn it off and back on again to reset it. On second thoughts this may be due to being in one of the menus... Yeah that happens to mine pretty regularly. I'm pre...

Hype Williams (the band), black dice, matrix metals. This guy nacho marty on YouTube does some great synth demo tracks that have an ineffable lo fi mystique I find really compelling. Hmm. I'll try to think of more

Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

Yes, not polyphonic, but the other two beh's in that formfactor are paraphonic... if they were gonna do a straight mono-kobol then why not slap it in the usual 3u module like all the others? True indeed. Yes, i've looked at that AEM, sounds really nice for a digital, would maybe get a euro version,...
