Re: modding the Plan B Model 9

Update..... the company I placed my order with, called me back to say the Model 9 unit they have is not functioning correctly. They didn't want to sell it to me, and refunded my $$. I'm glad companies check the modules before selling, but when I asked what the problem was (with the module)....the s...

Re: modding the Plan B Model 9

I happen to already have several extra OP400 quad-opamps......if I want to try swapping them for the TL074. I would expect you'll hear no difference to the bleed-through if you try using an OP400, as the problem is not caused by the internal crosstalk spec of whatever op amp chip is used. However, ...

Plan B M32 Vector Plotter modifications

I've not been a regular visitor/contributor to these parts for many years, so this is a bit of a 'blast from the past' so to speak, and this post is likely to have an exceedingly narrow readership/interest base, not least because I believe there may only be as few as 50 Plan B Vector Plotter modules...

Though I am one of those that don't come here as often as I once did, I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear this news this morning, and have been feeling numb throughout the day. His family and close friends must be devastated - my condolences go out to all of them.

it have selectable 5V or 10V by internal jumper . what setting is correct for model13 cv in? i dont want to ill the plan b module. Either setting will be fine: the 10V one will not harm the M13, but you may find that CV input voltages greater than about 5V have very little effect on the LPG cut-off...

Well when I looked at the first set of plots for my unit in its current state, I began to wonder whether I was right, and if my proposed solution may not work. However, having made my unit run faster by kludging on a pot across the 220k on pin 7, and then another across the 330k on LM3900 pin 3, it ...

Yes, that's the one. Good - there are a few component value differences, but thankfully the pin-outs are the same on the CGS75/Bananalogue schematic I normally use as my main reference for this circuit. As someone mentioned above, the problem largely stems from the pin 5 voltage on the LF353 follow...

First, with the OPA2134 and LF353. Here's the DUSG cycling at top speed (about 5kHz). There's a little glitch at the bottom of the triangle wave as it comes up from just below 0V. https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/28808_photo_09082016_18_21_52_1.jpg I'm pretty sure I know what the cause of...

im guessing its leakage currents in the exponentiators and integrator. its probably trying to discharge the cap, but with VC so high, the exponentiator transistors are pretty much off, maybe in the 100pA range, which might not be enough to overcome the leakage on the LF353. I'm pretty sure this is ...

All your assumptions are correct: CGS114 schematic, patched with end out to trig in, DC out to VC in, and the VC attenuverter knob fully anticlockwise. Thanks for confirming these. I do have an oscilloscope, though it's an ageing analogue one so posting shots will be tricky, but I can definitely po...

It could be some sort of loading issue of the main integrator, but how this actually stops the 'attack'/'not attack' logic from functioning properly isn't clear. However there are a few things we should clarify first, before I look more deeply into it. I'm assuming the schematic is the one on this p...

Wow, thread back from the dead! hello Tim , i am interested in the full details , you have the annotated photo ? Before I spend any time preparing a photo it would be as well to double-check that your module is indeed a 'Rev 4.4', or if no designation on the PCB (like mine), that at least the ribbon...

I thought Subcon took over plan B Subcon did a limited run of the M15 and M37 (about 110 modules each) to help Peter repay his major debts (successful - the acknowledgement of one big debt being repaid is on the second page of this thread). There are several modes of distortion in this VCO core, the LM13700 used without the diode bias or other forms of predistortion is the biggest culprit. Next, the diode limited regenerative damping and resistor degenerative damping networks are not a "pretty" way to stabilize the sine. I'm actually ...

It put up a fight, but I eventually managed to get Mathematica to do a least-squares fit of the scope data, and using the parameters this gives for the simulated data, rather than the 'by eye' plot above, it is clear that visually both the sine and cosine waveshapes output by the 110-4 are quite goo...
