Re: Eurorack to monitors and interface simultaneously...

I've been wanting to do the exact same thing: Turn on my modular gear only and GO! I often fiddle with my modular late at night without turning on the DAW and without any of my fixed-architecture synths powered-up. Currently, I have the main L/R outputs from a WMD Performance Mixer going to my inter...

Re: How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

If you you`re maxing out the uZeus PSU, it NEEDS to be mounted on metal rails as heat sinks! A cheap solution for this are industrial 3U units, as Eurorack is not just a fancy name because Dieter was starting out in Bavaria. Eurorack was an existing, cheap standard to build upon. They`re looking li...

As you can see, I've put heat sinks on the two attached to the Neutron, since the "rails" they are attached to are plastic . . .
Thanks everyone, for the tip about the heat-sink. Didn't know about that.

Re: How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

Why not get some additional flying bus cables and use the μZeus Boost 3A PSU and leave the remaining ones in the rack? Here are some that have 10 headers: https://modularaddict.com/eurorackpower-flyingbusboard Because I was too dumb to figure out which cable I needed and where to plug it in? Actual...

Re: WMD Aperture - Variable Width Bandpass Filter

I just wanted to join the chorus of accolades for this filter—it's insanely, surprisingly good! Surprising because it can make unexpected things happen. I have five "fancy" filters now, and of course, this being the most recent, is now the most favorite. I've yet to unlock more than 10% of its featu...

Re: Percussa SSP: wavetable, granular, sampling, fx processor...

I've been looking for a sampler that performs a true time-stretch (i.e., varying playback speed while holding pitch constant). Since the ER-301 isn't currently shipping, I'm looking at the Percussa. However, I couldn't find it in either their user manual or from a quick Google-search. Does anyone kn...

Thanks for the quick reply! How do you think it compares to the coming Mordax GXN? They are not really the same. The E-301 does much more, has a lot more I/O and is designed so custom units can be shared. http://wiki.orthogonaldevices.com/index.php/ER-301#Essentials There is also the Percussa SSP h...

Re: How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

I work in datacenters pretty often and I have seen something that might be what you're looking for, but i'm not sure what they're called. The closest I could get was a "rail extender." You use these on network racks with deeper equipment to help add a little support to the back end. You can also us...

Re: How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

You my friend, are a total nut case! :omg: Don't take that wrong. I totally can relate and have been exploring similar "nonstandard" rack instead of case options since I started. Played around with uZeus's in a separate HEK on the desk but never was happy with the HEK to rack cabling situation. The...

Re: How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

Hmmm, I’ve wondered about this as well when I start to fill up. An important consideration is that the uZues power needs to be attached to metal to act as a heat sink. You might be able to buy some simple ‘L’ brackets from the hardware store and attach them in pairs (properly spaced, to those angle...

How to mount Tiptop μZeus to back of 19" rack?

Hey all! I have three Middle Atlantic 12U desktop racks as my main set-up. Each is filled with 9Us of 84hp Tiptop Happy Ending kits. Some of my rows can benefit significantly by eliminating the μZeus 4hp power supply (e.g., my WMD mixer, Mutes, Channels, etc. fit perfectly without the μZeus). I've t...

Re: O|D ER-301: Sound Computer (Temporarily Unavailable)

I've been wanting one of these since I read about it on Muffs when I first joined. A few questions: 1. What was the original MSRP? 2. Why are these such unobtainium? 3. I gather the units were built-to-order, but that has been suspended. Will production start up ever again? Since I mainly like sampl...

Re: Distortion Modules - 100 Grit or Miasma?

I have 100 Grit and Angle Grinder (and Interstellar Radio...I got into eurorack because of Schlappi demos). I would say they are each worth their salt, and compliment each other well. 100 Grit works better as a stompbox style distortion or crunchy filter. It is easy to get wild noise out of it, but...

Re: Custom 19" Rack Builders?

There's a ton of 19" racks designed for telephony/internet applications, many very reasonably priced. Some even have "swing-out" designs, providing easy-access your installed-modules' rear-panels. You would have to add your own power supply, but it's a whole category of 19" products which don't appe...

Re: Where do you put your "misfit" modules?

It's new to me that there are a sizable contingent of users who have extra modules lying around with the intention future use. Sure, at first every module went in the rack. But as my system grew, I began arranging modules in more purpose-built groups. This left some of the more non-standard modules...

Re: MORDAX : DATA - Now available for pre-order

How do you patch your DATA? I just asked this in another thread, but how do you patch your DATA? I need to use my DATA more often. I assume most just use the in/out jacks on the DATA, but my DATA is on the extreme-left side of my rack which makes doing it that way use up a LOT of long cables. I thi...

This is a great thread! I have a Zadar, Batumi and Stages, but Quadrax always leaves me a bit confused (even after RTFM) even though it's the first quad I bought function-generator. The Perfect Circuit demo is very good (as they typically are) and shows me how helpful using a DATA while patching can...

Re: Supercell: expanded version of Clouds + Superparasites firmware

four Thanks! That's great! Like I said, I'm still very nascent in my knowledge of Clouds/Supercell. It's not a superset of Superparasites, no. There are some features in Beads that overlap with Superparasites (eg beat-repeat) but Beads doesn't have any of the spectral processing stuff. If you were ...

Re: How can I take my modular to the next level?

I had thought about getting some modular effects, but they're very expensive and I have a variety of guitar pedals and outboard effects that I use, including several pedals that take CV-in, so I haven't felt that I'm missing too much there, but maybe I'm wrong . . . I don't think you're wrong. Ther...

As a proud owner of the Miasma, I can say: Nothing beats Schlappi. On any fucking front. Wow! That's quite an endorsement! I have the 100 Grit and I absolutely love it. Of course, since I don't own a Miasma, I can't make any comparisons. But thanks for that! I feel like there's some overlap between...

Re: One modulation module to rule them all!?

I think an entire row of interlinked Mutable Instruments' Stages would be uber-powerful and would also look super-awesome (especially when sitting next to Veils). Also, I think Zadars rule for designing complex (or simple) shapes with very precise timings. However, my go-to LFO, more often than not,...

I've mentioned it before, but - if you're not averse to VST synths - Sophia by Audiobulb is capable of producing all manner of industrial / sci-fi sound effects and backgrounds. Very chaotic and unpredictable, though. The Rain , Wind and Thunder VST plugins by Xoxos are worth a go, too. Maybe not c...
