Re: Dotcom Bat Meter is back

The old one requires a power connector.
Or at least it has one on the back and I have it connected.
Not going to test to see if it works unconnected.
I would assume that the 1U version is the same.

Re: New to the format !!!

Maybe oakleysound.com has pcbs that would work in dotcom format. Originally they were all MOTM format. Tony Allgood's modules are recommended and are easier to get than the Paul Schreiber original MOTM series. He is located in the U.K.

Re: New to the format !!!

Yes, dotcom is easier to get new, and dotcom kits are even starting to proliferate. That said, used MOTM and (some of) the kits might be not too unobtainable. But good luck at finding all the original MOTM series...

I hadn't thought of using this Viscount pedalboard for the modular, but why not? It uses a 12v power supply, but the MIDI out should still be usable right?

Yes I finally wound up bidding on a 650 in an auction run by Paul, after hoping to just buy one the normal way for many years.
Or is there really a normal way to pursue this hobby of mine? :sarcasm:

I selected “yes” and “it depends...” since this is my best answer right now :despair: maybe a two unit panel would work? :hyper:

Re: How often does your 5U modular move

I chose the once or twice a year option. Mainly because that was closest to reality but I doubt that it has been as often as that. Certain years it went out twice or so. :hihi: I would be in serious back pain if I lugged all that around much; plus, it won’t fit in my vehicle. Would have to rent a U-...

I seem to remember that they were offered by Roman originally for $250 or thereabouts. But I could be wrong.

Re: New Stand-Alone MPC

I'm curious about the workarounds. Could it handle “Padre e padrone” from Sanremo 1995? This song starts with alternating 5/8 and 6/8 bars for the verse (or you could do straight 11/8 I suppose.) Then it goes to a syncopated common time for the chorus. Then back to alternating 5/8 and 6/8 for the ne...

The DIY builders can still source their own panels and use the MOTM power headers on the boards, so...as long as the boards are available...

I'm a little unclear on the requirements here. I am also unsure what your existing setup is doing. You want cv/gate, and midi sequencing, but not too large a device? Your sound source would be the Kronos? ( not sure from the text if you actually own one yet?) or do you want to sequence plugins too? ...

FYI, the Moon 524/524A quad LFO combo won't fit in the bottom row — I tried it when I converted from portable cabs to the 44U studio cab a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly the 524 will fit on its own but the 524A is too deep. Besides Dotcom modules, the bottom row of my 44U studio cab a...

Resurrecting a seven-year old thread, because I have an additional two 44-space cabs now somehow. :despair:  I had been hoping to fit a set of Mos-Lab and Synth-Werk modules together with an STG Time Suite all in the same 44-space cabinet, but it’s the old “bottom row” problem rearing its ugly...

QPS1 = 66 space capacity
22 + 22 + 25 = 69
69 > 66
That looks like the problem then :)
Wouldn't it be wiser to have 1 QPS3
That should also work, and allow for expansion.

Hmm, you have three interfaces. If you have a 44 and a 22 you only need the q137 on the 44 connected to one power interface on the 22.
If, as I suspect, you've three 22s, then I’m not really sure you can daisy chain the interfaces. Roger's example setups on his page don't seem to do that.

Do you have a 44-space and a 22-space, or three 22-space cabinets?
How are your power interfaces and/or control modules set up?
My gut feeling is that the digital modules may be part of the problem, but it’s a lot of unknown variables right now.

Naming it the 1650 almost seems like a nod to the late great MOTM-650 sequencer, although the features are different.
