Hardly one year into modular... it all started with a neutron which by now had to leave the case again and is back in it's original habitat.

Been there done that :hihi:

Nice Rack, Chapeau! :yay:

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

When looking at the video it seems like the frequency is stuck at maximum whenever any of the 3-4 most significant bits are high (any of the 3-4 rightmost LEDs is on). It is possible the reference resistor R28 to the DAC is too low or the feedback resistor R26 too high so the amplifier saturates at...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

[/quote] I wasn't trying to criticize you or your skills, however in a previous post, you stated: checked the module with multimeter, can not find an error, however I am not very good at electronics. Does anybody have another idea? Thanks! So you've been doing DIY for 12 years but you admit that you...

Pretty tame modular setup compared to some here.
It looks really great. And I think sounds even better! Anything but tame. Two thumbs up! :yay:

Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

My modular journey started digitally with my beloved North Modular G2X some 15 years ago, but when the Eurorack scene grew and more and more nice modules arrived I took the leap and oh boy never regretted it (well, sometimes when looking at the bank account :hmm: ). The hands on experience is just s...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

I have build/soldered quite a number of modules in the last 12 years, too. Even a whole synth (Mutable Instruments Shruthi) and I am not without the necessary basic skills imho (as your message implies). I have resoldered the module twice already and my neighbour multimetered the connections. My gue...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

I have done that twice (one time me, one time my neighbour). I mean literally resoldering all joints...well if I get bored anytime soon I may do it again...sigh I think that one of the components might be bad but with my limited understanding I can't tell which may be responsible...nobody else has m...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Checked the ICs (again), they are all firm in their sockets and no folded over pins. No shorts that I could detect and the TL074 are sitting nicely. I made a ot of close up pictures. If anyone has an idea I am all ears. Like I said I doubt it is the soldering or the connections we've checkes, double...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Hi, we've tested the connections between PCBs and all the connections of the IC sockets. Then I changed the 3 IC pairs one after another as as suggested. No change in behavior. If set to 8 steps and the sequence locked (full CCW position of knob) the module always plays 5 random notes and then 11 ti...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Hi bostonguy, thank you for the kind offer. Unfortunately I am located in continental Europe (Germany to be more precise). But maybe you can help me troubleshooting from afar. I will make the prposed checks on the module over the weekend and will then probably post another longer video with the resu...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Got the module back from my pal. He couldn't find wrong solder points either. Shorts I can also rule out. I will try to test the connections between the PCBs next and swap the ICs of the pairs one by one next.

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

No joy, checked all solder points yesterday and resoldered where to solder had not gone completely through to the other side. Still the same behavior. I have given the module to a friend of mine who is going to double check (he is a soldering pro) but I doubt that the soldering was the real issue he...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Just go my new solder tip today and will resolder tonight. Hopefully I will have random sequences soon :-)
I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the feedback, guys!

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

When I try to use the module as a random sequencer it generates a random sequence for approx. half the steps and the rest of the steps are a single tone. Does it do this for loop lengths shorter than 16 steps? Yes it actually does. BTW Steve from Thonk has given me the edvice that my solder points ...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

I just finished building the module (bought at Thhonk) and I have great difficulties to calibrate it. I rechecked all the components and they are all in place and soldered correctly (as far as I can tell). When I feed the module a clock from an osc (square wave) and start calibrating I need to turn ...

Turing Machine Calibration issues, half sequences

I just finished building the module and I have great difficulties to calibrate it. I rechecked all the components and they are all in place and soldered correctly (as far as I can tell). When I feed the module a clock from an osc (square wave) and start calibrating I need to turn the potentiometer a...
