Re: Modular Synth Basics! Cases, power, modules, CV?! Come in :)

I’ve been having trouble with my old a-100psu. Just upgraded to a 2000ma adapter, a100psu3 with 3 bus boards. It’s plugged into a power strip.

Do I need to wire it’s own on/off switch?

My 1st patch

With the help of some awesome wigglers I was able to finally get my system operational & I just made my first patch.... like 30 seconds ago. The kids are asleep so I had to keep the volume down & the lights dim. But... I’m really excited about the textures that came out of this thing. Thanks again t...

WMD Geiger C vs T-Wrex

I’m looking for bit/sample rate crusher with a little something extra. The GC wave table/wave shaper looks cool:

but the TW sync option also seems like it could be fun (starting at 5:00):

Anyone have experience/opinions on comparing these?

Re: VERY simple CV control FM radio - now w/ Schematic, video

Was there ever an out come to this?
I’m still looking for a CV radio so I can have a noise source with subtle artifacts from slowly tuning close to & out of a a station, and a crazy sample & hold scanning of the whole FM band.

Re: Doepfer a-100 missing power supply

seriously, thank you bawbag & Revok. I started building this system 5 years ago, not knowing anything about modular and I absentmindedly pushed in a loose ribbon cable with the system was powered up, I heard a 'pop' and then half the modules stopped working, a quarter of them only lit up LEDs but di...

Re: Doepfer a-100 missing power supply

Thank you everyone for responding.
My experience comes from wiring houses during my construction days, so I’m not translating things correctly for electronics.
SO! I’m connecting the positive to the fused side (x1) and the negative on the nonfused (x2a) and nothing on the ground tab.

Re: Help, tab connections on a-100

Just saw this from another post: I'll quote Synthomaniac here when I asked the very same question, and about grounding.... "Mine had two black leads, one with a white stripe but red and white does make you think positive/negative. It does not matter however, it works either way. With regard to the e...

Help, tab connections on a-100

Hey, I cut the barrel connection off an ac adapter to power an old tab connection style a-100. The tabs are: ground & then the 15v ac tabs: x2a then x1 The recommended adapter (wau16-2400) positive tip & negative ring (no ground). Am connecting the negative to the ground & the positive to one one or...

Re: Doepfer a-100 missing power supply

So I got my adapter, there’s no ground.
The tip is positive, the ring is negative.

Is the positive going on x1 terminal & the negative on 2xa terminal?

Re: Doepfer a-100 missing power supply

Follow up question: when I clip the barrel connection off the adapter it’s easy to know what wires connect to ground.... (I don’t want to make assumptions, the x1 is the hot wire & 2xa is the neutral?)

...and when I cut the wire on the adapter the neutral will be white?

Doepfer a-100 missing power supply

Where the heck do you get a 15v ac adapter with these 3 clip connectors?

What are theses metal tab connections & their wires called?

The Doepfer site recommendation doesn’t have the right connection: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... ND/4915299

:foul: Don't do this unless you're sure your supplies are double isolated and your chassis is isolated from ground. But really, just don't do this. There's a reason few devices have multiple power cords... Yea... it seemed weird to me. What do you think about the Trogotronic AC Inlet Bezel? It’s pr...

Re: delay w variable lofi/sweep/od?

We have a number of delay cards - Time Domain, Tape Echo, Dragonfly - for the ZDSP that have CV controls for what you want. You might want to check out the ECHOZ 8HP module which has 24 delay programs and even control over the DSP clock speed called 'Fidelity'. Just finished this demo... it’s prett...

Man, modular people think on a completely different level than conventional synth folks.
I had to read that 3x to pick up what I were putting down. That’s an awesome hack!

Re: delay w variable lofi/sweep/od?

Nah the whole thing that makes it cool is the effects are then part of the main delay feedback loop, so each successive repetition is effected more and more. It would be just like how the all-in-one pedals are doing it, except with an accessible send/return you can put anything in there instead of ...

Re: delay w variable lofi/sweep/od?

Probably easier to find a delay with an effect loop where you can patch in whatever you want. DLD and Chronoblob2 come to mind. Wouldn’t that just be a flat effect on the taps versus a cumulative effect? And if so, wouldn’t the bit crusher & overdrive not sound right at the low volume of the traili...

delay w variable lofi/sweep/od?

I’ve been looking at the Donner Echo Square as a cheap solution to getting increasing saturation effects (bitrez-filter/res-overdrive) in the delay taps, as opposed to a Line 6 or some boutique box but... there’s got to be some eurorack developer that’s already put this in a module with CV right? I ...

Re: Modules to pair with K2

Probably half true. I always did like the MS20 but since I’m paying (& she might not be that serious) I want to go cheap (& I want to play around with whatever she gets). I gave her my SK1 when she was little & she loved it, then I gave her my old Electribes & she liked those too, after that it was ...

Modules to pair with K2

My daughter took an interest in electronic music a few years ago. She can make simple beats & patches (has almost no interest in DAWs) & is ready to try modular (she’s one of these AP kids, way smarter than me) so I’m getting her a K2. Trying to think about modules to supplement what the K2 doesn’t ...

Looking for delay effect

Does anyone make a delay where you can change filter/res in the taps... and/or distortion?

I know some of those multi-effect units can do it, but looking for something singular... cheaper.
