I always thought 5U looked great. I would definitely like to get a 5U system at some point. But that would purely be for the studio. A nice thought out ergonomic 5U box for low noise, great sounding synth goodness. And it will be when I have more space. For now it's euro. Alternately I would love to...

I've had one for a couple of months. I also have a MPC2000XL and an MPC2500 with JJOS. I both love and hate this machine in pretty much equal amounts. I'm going back and forth on getting rid of it, but probably wont because of a few things. The good first. It's an MPC and it does pretty much all the...

Finally got an MPC Live myself. Kinda mixed feelings so far. It has functionality that pretty much guarantees I'll use it quite a bit. But as a long time user of 2000XL and 2500 I'm not terribly impressed with the workflow on this, so far. Touch screen and squishy buttons, yuck. But resampling and r...

I have a pair of Focal Spirit Pro. I'm really happy with them. I got them for mixing on, when I can't use speakers and also to inform mixing decisions in general. Best pair I've had for that purpose.

I have to disagree with Hainbach over here. I bought my Babyface back when they were new. I've used it just about every day since then with no problems. Used it with several different stationary PCs and laptops, with several different expander audio interfaces, and Ive been carrying it around and us...

A little while ago I got a Befaco A*B+C Kit which I've already managed to fry, and a Rampage Kit which I soon will build (more carefully). Can't wait. And today I got a dirt cheap Yamaha SY55. Couple of broken keys, but I can live with them for now. Pretty cool thing. Great cheesy choir and vox soun...

@Khyber Pass, I've been living on boats for the past six years. Three different boats in that time, all fiberglass, in salt water. If you're going to live there, you will need to have at least one dehumidifier going at all times. As long as you do that, the interior of your boat will probably be le...

Thanks for all the suggestions! To clarify a bit. I haven't decided on the boat just yet, but seriously considering it. It will most likely be a sailboat, and it will definitely be either steel or fibreglass. Wood is too high maintenance. I haven't completely discarded the idea of a barge or ferry-t...

Studio in a boat

Hi! I'm currently seriously considering buying a sailboat to live in. If I do this however there will be a period of time where I won't have any other place of my own to make music. So obviously it will need to be in the boat. I realize of course this will put some restrictions on music creation lik...

I can't remember , been a while since I used an MPC, do they have velocity switching on pads, I though my 2000xl did ? Anybody know if the Live has phantom power ? Both 2000XL and 2500 have velocity switching, and I can't imagine the rest don't have it. On the 2500 you choose different response cur...

If it works with a tablet pen or something like that, it would make it much better as I fucking hate having to use my fingers on a touch screen. It tends to be annoyingly finnicky and frustrating. I may come out as set in my ways here, but really I don't see any advantages at all to a touch screen ...

At least it's not ugly as shit, like the DSI Pioneer thing. It'll be interesting to see how they compare. But I wish they could just revisit the MPC2000XL properly already. Is that so hard? Oh, well. Time will show, maybe they got it right this time.

Check out the Hexinverter VCNoiz. Puts out some crazy stuff. Holy crap! This is great! DIY even, if there's still kits laying around. Either way something like this is just the kind of thing I was hoping to find. Zorlon cannon II excels at this. It can give you 8 different flavors of lofi noise at ...
