Re: Sequential Pro 3

I’d agree it sits in a mix well as do all the latest sequential stuff, That is where my Volvo not a Porsche analogy was coming from. I.e. It’s very good at what it needs to do , will probably last ages and hold its value , but there’s nothing super wow exciting in the basic filters. This is comparin...

Re: Sequential Pro 3

I had an ob-6 and have had the pro 3 since the beginning of lockdown Feb. The sound is fine , but like others have said , you have to gain stage for each filter. The ladder filter I hardly ever use , I can get better Moog sounds with the Prophet filter. People say you need to drive into the Moog, bu...

Re: Modor DR-2 digital drum machine...

Sounds great to my ears , but I think the price is optimistic, to put it mildly. As much as I love the MD , I hated it hammering sound, kinda gave me a headache after a while. I did tend to favour the FM engines though. I gave up with elektron , super intuitive machines for me at least , but never u...

Presets are very handy for reverse engineering. Learnt a lot from certain ones.

I tend to roll my own because it’s generally quicker than browsing them for the sound that fits.

Re: Roland TR-06, TR-6s, TR-606 (cloud)

Interesting , ok with the MC707 it takes some setting up , but with nice 606 samples there is a ton of nuance you can add to each hit. I.e. pitch randomisation , pan randomisation, velocity depth for amp, filter and envelope, 4 stage envelopes with velocity for attack and decay. 5 different filters ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8ysjyOcVHg Spent years trying to remember what this keyboard my aunt and uncle used to have was...then, not two weeks after I finally stumbled onto the answer, one turned up on my local Craigslist for $10. Never getting rid of it :) Sounds like a Final Fantasy sound...

Nice, just to be clear this was aimed at equipment that came with demo songs rather than people doing demos of gear.

I find fabfilter Saturn pretty useful with 808 loops , if used diligently. I mean if you don’t mind using an iPad.

Good demo songs that came with gear ?

Ok, good demo songs might be a kind of oxymoron to some , but what are your fave demo songs on gear , or even apps ?

None spring to mind , that’s why I ask , but the Korg EMX had some ok drum and bass ones I seem to remember.

£700 after tax in U.K. , feels expensive to me , there is a lot going on, but is there enough broad appeal for people to part with that for it ? I’m pessimistic tbh regardless of it’s worth.

Re: Modal Cobalt 8

I had a Model 001 and loved the sound a lot, but it had issues for sure , plus it was limited unless you used the animator , which felt like using a computer , and even a year on the web editor wasn’t functioning. The cobalt does seem to sound nice , I was a bit scared off with the Argon because I k...

Re: What's your take on the BEHRINGER MODEL D? Seen a lot for sale recently.

I love it, had it for a couple of years. I would say Moogs ‘now free’ iPad app of the Model D is every bit as good. Also it’s just a controller away from being more tactile. It saves midi templates too.

Yeah regardless of how close it sounds , that’s a lot of synth for the money. I was happy with my Bodyssey while I had it. Sold it because I knew I’d pick this up.

The lights do make it look like a Christmas decoration, but dimmed they will be ok , moreover they are practical.

Wow that is a terrible upload speed on idrive which purports to have fast uploads. Backblaze was also recommended to me along with idrive. Same here, wondering when they’ll be back in the U.K. at least. Most U.K. retailers say 1-2 weeks at the moment , others say December ?

I guess it’s almost impossible to say with everything that’s going on.

Which online backup service for large Media data ?

We have all got some music data we’d rather not lose , other than local backups like Timemachine etc, do you use online ? I used to use Zoolz till they stopped their consumer package , so now use IDrive , which seems reliable , but no matter your upload speed , it only uses 1mbps to upload. I.e. it’...

Neither without hearing them first , or being able to return them easily, which is the case with the hyphen, which I gravitated towards anyway. The others do have a metal housing which I like , as long as weight isn’t an issue. I have bought B&O , which aren’t anything special sound wise , but are s...

My op-z was fine , but read so many problems , it was a lot of fun , but quality control at the beginning was clearly an issue. I think the PO’s are made really well considering. Innovation is not doubted by anybody I think , maybe until now. This thing will be updated , it will be interesting if a,...
