Re: Nine inch nails - Two free to download albums

Im enjoying this a lot! Well, only really listened to together so far. Lots of nice understated “the fragile” era atmosphere.

Re: Skinny Puppy WHY?

Cabaret Voltaire and Portion Control are two artists I haven’t explored yet. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll get on that.

Re: Skinny Puppy WHY?

I like most things Skinny Puppy, but there's this one sound in their early work that I love with all my heart and strain to hear in the later stuff. I wonder if OP has heard it? It's gritty, it's dense, it's smooth, it's funky. Deadlines early version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7ECAplzR8E Las...

I don't know about music using Russian synths, but I've been exploring a ton of modern Russian synth-pop and post-punk and am absolutely in love. Jerkers come up used pretty frequently. I paid about $50 for this. All in after hardware and wood I probably spent $250 on this stand and much more time than my wife wanted me to :) I'm gonna try to assemble a BOM and some basic details around the plans at some point, but basically I used 8x 16" dra...

But why is the top-shelf also made to slide out? It probably doesn't need to but I had the slides and thought if I want to have a couple slide out at the same time it might still be handy to be able to pull the top synth closer. The feet stick out as far as the shelves so I think I can have m...

IKEA Jerker desk sliding keyboard stand conversion

I'm moving soon and am going to have less space to sprawl out my keyboards so I modified an old IKEA desk to stack 4 keyboards on slidable shelves. I didn't worry too much about looks on this one but it works well, isn't too heavy, and can easily be moved to the new house :) https://www.muffwiggler....

Pretty excited! I wanna see if some modular shows up on the recordings. Some of the percussive elements in the title track sound pretty synthesized.

Just glancing at the HP AMP circuit on the page 7 of the Volca Bass service manual here https://www.synthxl.com/korg-volca-bass/ does indicate the HP out signal is just a mono signal split into two identical signals at unity gain. https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/7002_vbhpamp_2.jpg Hard to...

bought an Ensoniq EPS. I just took delivery of an EPS 16+ with all the Waveboy FX and TransWave disks today. I also have an EPS "classic". I had the former back in 1988/89. I loved it then, and I love it now. I am sure I will love the 16+, too. I always kinda wanted a Mirage but I found this EPS fo...

In the past month I built a PreenFM2, bought an Ensoniq EPS for a great price, and most recently picked up a used Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK. I'm really excited about the last one - I've been looking for a used multitracking mixer for what feels like a long time.

Anyone still using the old beatstep?

I bought a beatstep on preorder when it first came out but ended up selling it because I wasn't using it. My biggest complaint was that I wish it had some visual indication of where the notes were positioned; I always felt like I was flying blind with the endless encoders. Anyway, a while back I pic...

Stunning music made with clunky keyboards

I was looking up the Yamaha PS-55 because one came up locally for cheap and I found this absolutely gorgeous and captivating demo by a guy under the name of Acreil. I'm obsessed, and yes I'm buying the keyboard :) I am sure I won't be able to make it sound like this but I need those arps lol. [video...

Did you get to talk to him about his setup? I don't know much about him but his remix of Triangle Walks was my first exposure to Fever Ray while I was driving around Puerto Rico on a work trip and that was just a perfect soundtrack. Aborym was a lot more polished but pretty rad for sure. I liked schizoid''s lo-fi. Just a screamy guy with a minidisc and a digitech death metal pedal and a mixer.

How about anaal nathrakh? Migrating away from dhc here but their early stuff did a great job melding black metal with electronics.
