Does this OS have any advantages for folks who aren't using the MegaCommand? (Clever way to draw attention to the MegaCommand, btw.)

If starting right now I'd get a Crater for BD and would re-buy a BIA. I love my ModBase but it's outrageously spendy as a thing that goes bom-bom-bom.

Re: Who prefers the workflow of modular drum setups?

My Machinedrum has been with me for something like 20 years now and I struggle with alternatives when it comes to what it can do. At one stage of my modular journey I built a row of relatively fixed architecture drum modules (when TipTop first began releasing its X0X clones, along with a MFB piece o...

Re: non clicky envelope techniques?

Bear in mind, of course, that it's the VCA and the audio passing through it, not the EG, that's clicking. The VCA's response curve is important. There might be a digital EG out there that can be set to behave the way you're after, beginning its attack at the prior state, but I suspect that's rare an...

Re: Novation Launchpad Pro MK3

Since going back to an Ableton-centric recording philosophy I've been hamstrung by a lack of transport control available at my hardware. This looks like a great solution, along with having usefulness the rest of the time when I'm not using Ableton (most of the time, frankly).

Any users here?

Re: What's your recording chain?

I use a 16 channel mixer with each channel feeding an input on my inexpensive audio interface + ADAT expander. I only occasionally hit record and prefer to just jam and for me this setup works well - the interfaces and computer are out of sight, out of mind most of the time. I went to this approach ...

Re: Bubblesound modules too big/tall to fit in my case! What to do?

I have this issue with my uLFO. The rails in a Doepfer case can wiggle a bit. Loosen up the other modules on the row, or both rows, and it should go in with some effort.

It's worth the effort for that nice shaped sine.

Well, the other day I was taking mine apart because they won't fit in my new arrangement, and my 2-year-old got his toe smashed in when the triangular foot fell on it. Don't assemble or disassemble them with small children around. Or without shoes on. Now the triangular foot is causing unsympathetic...

Re: Expressive keyboard for rack control: QuNexus, Microfreak, or something else?

I'm on this quest as well. For me the question is whether to get a keyboard with CV outs built in, or to go with a small synth with MIDI out. I'm not a keyboard player at all and just want to add a small interface for playing notes. I just don't want to buy absolute garbage hardware, which in this l...

I use my G3 for a couple Metasonix modules and some other things. Works fine. The PSU2 is strong enough to handle pretty much anything you can throw into 84HP, I suspect.

Doepfer A-100G3. They aren't common, but you can find them on Reverb.

Re: Cwejman owners, current or past

I have a two DMF-2's and an INS-2MX. I used to have a BLD. The DMF-2 is a very useful filter with all the patchability I need. Its overdrive characteristic gives it some character, but it's not as "character-rich" as some of my other filters. In other words, I wouldn't want it to be my only filter, ...

Sounds like these are starting to make their way into the world. It's an intriguing option for adding keyboard control plus a pretty nice looking sequencer to a Euro system. I was thinking about a Microfreak as a keyboard, but this might be the more appealing choice...

Re: Jomox T-Rackonizer as a stereo filter

The T-Rackonizer is weird. Just like the T-Resonator, it's parts by themselves aren't all that interesting - the reverb won't make anyone forget their "real" reverb units, the filters are fairly dull, etc. The sum of the parts is what makes it cool, at least in theory. Given the insanely low used pr...

Re: BEST VCF at the moment ??

If you want a real answer you need to get more specific about your goals.

The correct answer is Cwejman, but there are tons of dope filters out there. If you can have only one, something like Three Sisters is a good idea, but if you can get away with a single channel, I love the WMD Aperture.

For grimy acid-like basslines the R-56 is the clear winner for me, but I'm sure they're hard to get ahold of now.

All these fancy 25,000 algo digital boxes are a lot of work.
