Re: Favorite FX units for drum machines?

It's great! I've never used it with drums though. Do you have an example or two of how you mangle drums with it? Sorry, I don't seem to get around to organizing my recordings to the point where I could share something easily. My Machinedrum has been running through the T-R for a long, long time, so...

Re: How many modules outside your rack?

Had a lot of modules sitting in a cupboard and after trying to sell them for 2 years I decided to stop wasting my time and just bought another HEK. Still have a few that don't fit, and I suspect that'll only get worse over time even though I'm not buying much anymore.

Re: Have You Had to Replace Any Panel Pots, Jacks, Switches and LEDs in Your EuroRack?

My son yanked a cable hard and broke a jack on a module (tore the damned thing right out of the module). Still have to fix it (or get it fixed).

Re: Reverb module suggestions

I'll tell you the same thing everyone else does though....Erbe Verb and Zverb are the best reverbs in Euro I'm not sure that's true anymore. Erbe Verb has long been a module with mixed reactions, especially as a true, end-of-chain reverb. "It's a sound design tool for mid-patch" is a broadly held o...

Something I notice listening to SIGN is a more immediate awareness (or at least sense) of the music being physically performed with controllers (including a keyboard) rather than simply rolling out as a series of maths problems the way their recently tsunami of live stuff feels. But then I listen to...

The entire MK1 Harvestman line.
A very good answer. Of that era, the QMMG gets the most attention, but the Harvestman modules of the same timeframe have a special sauce.

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread

I suppose the OT could serve that purpose as well. I'd mostly be adding this as a companion to the MD. I have plenty of other sound options, so the lack of super deep synthesis is actually an attractive feature. If anything I see myself putting this at my desk where I'd tweak from time to time as a ...

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread

Now that these have been in the wild for a while, I'm wondering how the more experienced wigglers out there are finding the the synth engine. Is the lack of control over attack a problem? I'm debating engaging in some retail therapy with one of these, but the absence of an attack parameter is making...

Re: Delay devices. Where are we on that?

I've had a few different delays over the years in my Eurorack. There are so many different flavors and capabilities. I like to have a "clean" unit, which for me the DLD has filled. I also like "creative" delays but I've hopped around a lot on those. I recently picked up the Pittsburgh Lifeforms Casc...

Re: Newb needs intervention

I started out with a Doepfer LC6 and upgraded to a LC9, then got another LC9, and then a Monster Base, and then a bunch of other cases. The LC9 has never failed me and has never given me the least issue. IMO it's a fine place to start on the case front, assuming you're committed to the format. Other...

Re: Disapointing Modules

How could you tell? I have one, and think it sounds good for what it purports to do, which is pretty limited by nature. I've not experienced a "bad" one but my impression is that it's pretty obvious, like so much noise the delay isn't particularly useful, that sort of thing. A lack of understanding...

Pittsburgh Modular Analog Delay was a real bad one.
Apparently they ended up with a lot of bad chips in those, along with some good ones. I had one of the good ones and enjoyed it while I had it, but I'd be wary of buying one off the used market these days.

Love the Volante, though. Great, versatile, musical delay+drive+spring emulator for sticking in a mixer aux loop.

Re: Question about clock modules

One advantage of the 4ms modules is the absence of programming. For me at least, the fewer modules with programming modes in my system, the easier it is for me to use. A second advantage is the option to add the QPLFO, QCD, etc. to the system.

Re: how different is the Mod Base 09 from ...

I had the Mbase11 years ago but the Mod Base 09 feels the same to me, with perhaps a more consistent response to triggers (though that could have much more to do with the way I was trying to trigger the Mbase than anything else). The CV inputs are the difference. After about 6 months of having it in...
