Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?

Adding to what I said earlier: gstormelectro's filters. Again, not because I didn't expect much of them (they're reproductions of classics after all) but familiarity with modular (and music tech generally) has left me slightly jaded. All the ones I have are amazing, but the sh2-vcf has become my sta...

Re: Module which unexpectedly blew you away?

fx-aid - sounds so much better than I was expecting and just unbelievable support by igorrr
joranalogue generate 3 - considering how long I have been doing this I just wasn't expecting to like an oscillator as much as I like this one

Re: Happy Nerding FX AID XL VS TipTop Z5000 vs ..?

The HN and tiptop modules are based on the spin FV-1 which does not have a clock input. Tiptop released a card for the zdsp that featured clocked delays but this was a clever software based workaround. In a similar vein, the fx-aid offers two delay programs that allow you to sync the delay with an e...

Re: MI Peaks vs Doepfer A-140-2 vs Dreadbox Ataxia

I have both peaks and doepfer module and both are decent options. I do occasionally have to consult the manual on peaks and the pot taper isn't exactly to my tastes. The interesting parts of the curve (particularly on the decay as it moves from a bit too fast to a bit too slow) could do with more re...

Zadar is 😎 but it is definitely not an ADSR. Since they added sustain it gets a fair bit of the way there, but it's not an ADSR in the traditional sense, no... Also look at frequency central's system x envelope: 4 HP, with a really good traditional envelope shape. There's an 8HP module as well that...

Re: EMS Synthi modules

The analogue systems modules are licensed from EMS so they are the real thing. No, they aren't the real thing, though quite close. The licensing is the right to write "EMS" on the panel. I have no dog in this fight - I have not used these modules or any EMS synth so make no claims about veracity - ...

Re: Klavis - Quadigy - Quad Envelope Generator

hi all, I noticed a small glitch when using Quadigy when patched to VCA's. I first noticed a subtle but clearly present "glitchy/metallic noise artifact" at the very beginning and end of my sounds. Especially when doing very pure sounds made of sines essentially, they should be crystal clear and th...

I have heard of those (even have some of their modules). I am interested in the ones that I've "never even heard of" :) Livestock Electronics then, perhaps? Or Tenderfoot Electronics? Or ST Modular? There are many good, lesser known, makers. Thanks lisa. While I agree that there are "amazing new mo...

Re: Which modules to get closest to OBxa voice?

I finally got one of these and, like all of the GSE modules I have, it is indeed very good. I had always avoided the 3320 because I didn't much like the way resonance behaves on the pro one. Very small amounts of resonance are fine but for me it quickly becomes unusable. Not so here and so I find th...

There are many threads about analogue kick drums, but this is the only one I am aware of that has an external input: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/steady-state-fate-entity-bass-drum-synthesizer Any reason it has to go into the kick and not alongside it? In the latter case, you could use something li...

Re: Joranalogue GENERATE 3 - Through-Zero Multiphonic Signal Generator

Something as open-ended and complex as G3 is not for everyone, but that's the whole point. It does things you can't do with most other VCOs. That's why I bought it. That's why I love it. If one is not willing to put in the time to learn how to best make use of these new possibilities then invest in...

Re: Erica Synths Graphic VCO

You can’t change the function of the knob, but if you go to the I/O settings you can change the range and offset the voltages per jack. So if you want to use an envelope you can leave the range at +-5v and offset it 50% or if you’re using a 5v unipolar signal like from PNW you can reduce the range ...

Re: Non-grid-based, Phase-locked modules

It sounds like what you are looking for is something like James Holden's humaniser patch for Live:

https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/james-h ... an-timing/

Don't know exactly how you'd do this with eurorack, but deriving timing from a non-quantised clock source would be a start.
