Re: Behringer 2600

Has anybody analyzed the difference in smd parts used in the Korg 2600FS and the Behringer 2600. Give there both are smd id be curious what it is that makes such a perceived difference in them. It’s going to come down to the quality of the components used in the audio path. Original Blue Marvins an...

BTW, after looking at the panel labels it seem that it has 4 analog voices: BD, SD, LT, HT 4 digital "fixed" voices : CH, OH, RS, CP 2 sample voices 3 digital "synth" voices: VPM (FM), noise, user (the kind of user-loaded generators that the other logues have) The analog and digital fixed voices su...

Re: An idea for a microtonal MIDI-keyboard

Cool idea. Couple of suggestions: Include a way to use that pitch slider to find a pitch and then assign that pitch to a key. A tuning could be built up quickly by ear that way. (Bonus points - the ability to save & transmit the resulting tuning as a MTS and/or Scala file). Support for MTS real time...

Re: Behringer Poly D/Crave/Odyssey/etc. Sequencer Clock Divider???

They just put it back in, for the Odyssey at least. I updated yesterday. And what's so garbage about Synthtool? Run it, plug usb cable into synth, click two buttons, and it updates. Super painless, far more so that having to use a proprietary USB driver (Korg) or sysex dumps. I am using a mac though...

Re: Behringer Swing

As Behringer pointed out in their reply, they have lawyers to determine just how close they can get and still fall within that legal dictum about confusing customers. That's a pretty clear statement of their intent to mislead. LOL, no. That's not how it works. No one would be able to consult a lawy...

Re: What's Brian Eno Playing?

Recopied from the thread that nostalghia metioned: I've just been having a long chat with Gerry Rodgers and he told me the story of Eno's custom synthesizer. It was Gerry who designed and built it, as I suspected, and it comprised a 6 channel RSE input mixer, a Synthi pcb card set, an FX send/return...

Here's Eno wearing an outfit that Lady Gaga probably stole 40 years later, playing...what exactly? An EMS Synthi with other stuff added?

Re: Music you sort of get but can't get get into

I believe there is a very much virtuoso effect in electronic music too, it just manifests itself in different ways. Crazy sound design, extremely complex rhytm programming or even modular patching past a certain level of complexity does this kind of effect on me when it's in detriment of emotions. ...

Re: Music you sort of get but can't get get into

Music that exists as a vehicle for virtuosity. I get it; hearing someone pulling off something difficult on an instrument is impressive. But it's not a vibe I can enjoy for more than a few minutes. Paganini, Malmsteen, Dream Theatre- no thanks. One of the things that attracts me to electronic music ...

A pair of A-110-4's is even better! Interesting... Do you have an example of the kind of sounds you get from a pair of A110-4s? What do you mean? It's a carrier-modulator pair. That's going to be more useful for FM than just one oscillator - that's how FM works. I'll take that as a "no" then. :roll...

This should be possible to do with a delay that has voltage control over delay time, and a slow lfo. Try panning the original hard left and copy hard right 100% wet - it will start out in the center, and then split off into stereo as it goes out of phase. For the HP and price check out the Synthrotek DLY, 4HP BBD module. The Synthrotek DLY uses a PT2399 chip, which is pleasantly low-fi, but not BBD. They misleadingly call it a BBD in the ModularGrid description, but on their own site they say "The PT2399 Echo IC was designed to mimic old-school anal...
