Re: Inexpensive mic pre with optical out?

The old Presonus Eureka mic channel. They didn't come with digital out but you could buy it as an option.

Re: Recommend your weirdest craziest FX machine ever

Not seen this mentioned yet but the Korg SDD-3300 triple delay from the mid 1980s is pretty crazy. Three fully separate 0.5 to 500 milliseconds delays that can do all your time based effects and more. It was two LFO's per delay that can run asynchronously and out of phase of each other. The delays c...

Re: Sad Photo

Exact same thing happened to me with a 3.5m jack and a laptop. I put the broken part back in, gave it a twist and then pulled it out. Luckily the entire plug including the part stuck in the jack came out in one piece.

I got "Live at the Orpheum" (2014) and unfortunately, that's exactly what that CD/DVD sounds like to me. In spite of having 3 remarkable drummers I didn't think the band brought anything new to the table on that one. I was at that show and felt the same way watching it live. Also the CD isn't the e...

He was also on CBS Sunday Morning show a couple months ago talking about the exhibit. Funny for some reason I always assumed he made that sound on a minimoog.

J wires on the keyboard are dirty, I had that all the time back when I had a minimoog. The J wires get worn down and tend to tarnish and loose connection. Cleaning them will fix the issue for a while, but replacing them is the real fix.

Get that lamp off the table, move the modular to the right and then move your rack and other stuff to the left of the modular. Move the computer between the monitors.

Also I can't tell how wide the room is but it looks like your speakers are too close together, I would move them a bit farther apart.

Gleeson sold the E-mu modular, blue box and the two Prophet 10's to Casey Young in 1980. Casey in turn kept the Bluebox (which he continued to use throughout the '80s) but sold the E-mu modular and Prophet's (that never worked that well) to a guy in Portland, Oregon. Interesting information there. ...

I stand corrected. So what was Gibson responsible for? Just the OB-MX? I'm not sure exactly when that was started, but I do know that it started around the time of the moog filter's patent expiring, because it actually started as a single space mono synth with SEM and Moog ladder filters. It kept g...

Largely forgotten now, but Gibson also made a range of half-finished MIDI processors. One of these, the Oberheim Cyclone arpeggiator, was the basis of 808 State's track Nimbus: The Perf/x series was just prior to Gibson buying Oberheim, I was there in at the time they were developing them in the mi...

Fine, while we are at it lets just call all electronic based instruments such as electric guitars and organs "synthesizers."

I don't have any decent recent images of my gongs. Here is one from about six years ago when I had them set up in my living room: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/743_gongs_zps13c5243e_1.jpg These are gongs from Indonesia that I had made for me around 1994. While I've never seen the Philip Glass Ensemble perform the entire Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack live with the film, they always seem to find a way to get The Grid into the set list. Been looking at TC M2000 and M3000 as well as the M One. Also curious about the Roland 3000 and 3030. Any others? I prefer the older Roland SRV 330 over the other Rolands you mentioned. I think it sounds more interesting and is not that hip right now. If you want a cheaper Lexicon I think the MXP1 ...

The long discontinued korg oasys pci card could do this as well. But you need an old Mac (OS 9) or PC (win98) to run it
