Re: Setting Levels in a DAW and what's the ideal RMS/Peak level for Samples in your opinion?

Some processes need headroom, others don't. The more tracks you sum, the more headroom you may need depending on what the arrangement demands. I tend to prefer keeping tracks well under -15dBFS so that they sum to maybe a -5 peak at most. I don't like to be minding the meters constantly nor nudging ...

Re: Looking for some free software that produces visuals that responds to live sound

Weird that milkdrop is still the only great visualizer in the realm of Win software/mp3 players. Even though I use it all the time I wish it could 'slow down' better. Apart from the list (shift-L) and the [ ] keys I can't seem to control the thing. in the 'crazy' realm I bought a Sumger RGB laser fo...

Re: Valhalla supermassive

It never ceases to amaze me how quality reverb is cheaper than a dime-a-dozen now.
I recall starting in the early 90s being depressed by how much it cost to acquire a reverb that sounded decent - $700+ for a used PCM70, SPX90 or similar.

Re: What kind of music is this? Hard Techno?

Bangin' Techno says it well enough to me though I'm a 90's old-fart raver kook, so take it fwiw OP track has a British approach to the mix elements a la Dave Clarke(who is also great at old-school electro), check the Red3 12" for some of the thickest kicks ever. Joey Beltram and Steve Stoll produced...

Re: Novation Summit owners...

Dang. I hope it's just the rare lemon and not a characteristic problem with recent-ish Novation(s). The keybed on my UltraNova went haywire, and stayed that way after I took it apart and cleaned it. Never had a problem with the Supernova2 - a sweet keybed on one of the best UI's ever.

did they play the 2112 overture at any of those shows? Oh my, it was so long ago. I can't remember if I'd even gotten my 1st synth by then! :youkids: I'd STILL bet that they played the overture+temples of syrinx at all of them, though. Nobody would let them leave if they hadn't! Re: I can't believe I waited this long to upgrade a guitar

The pickup(s) make a huge difference in the resultant sound, and can determine more than anything else how the amp input reacts. Other aspects of the guitar that can make quite a noticeable difference: 1) Setup of the bridge height, saddle scale per-string and saddle-radius in relation to neck-bow. ...

back from the dead-thread, i just thought of a nice little bit to use when setting up mics by yourself: 1. Get a looper pedal - the kind that records the input signal and repeats it: A TC ditto, Line6 DL4 etc...(not the 'fx loop' or 'loop-switcher' kind of pedal). 2. Place looper pedal 1st in your p...

Thank you Korg for not putting an analogue filter on this.
I agree. There's no need on a wavestation.
Besides, to have an analog filter per-voice with 64 poly it would need as many filters, plus D/A & A/D conversion before and after every filter...even with SMD it might not fit in there.

Good advice so far. The speaker and cabinet is a crucial ingredient in real electric guitar sound. Focus on mic technique and how you are tracking multiple guitars along with other instruments (or merely overdubbing guitars). The MIX is what rules, ultimately. Don't be afraid to go to extremes, but ...
