Re: Dave Smith hints at Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4/Prophet 10

Sorry for being a corksniffer though, but whenever I hear that a recreation/reissue is coming, I'm always waiting for the 'except...'. And in this case, yep, there it is: The vintage knob. Aha, so it's not a exact recreation - I mean, the filters are cool additions, they are simply additions, but t...

Re: Dave Smith hints at Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4/Prophet 10

The sound is it for me. I can judge if I want a synth like 20 seconds into the demo. Specs are awful of course, that's intentional. They wanted to keep it close to the original just updating a few things like velocity. Rationally the Prophet 06 or just about any other synth is a better choice. But t...

I just remembered this thread I found using Makerbeam M3 rails with 5U gear:

Re: 5u motm mounting

I use these in my MOTM cabinet and they are much better than the sliding rails on my Euro cabinet. The sliding rails bend and sag but these are going nowhere.

Re: 5u motm mounting

First, you would need to mount the Euro rail lower. Because the mounting holes on a MOTM module are 1/8" or more from the edge of the module. And I have found that those rails sag even when attached to a case, starting them lower might be even worse. Then you would need to find an M3 with a ridiculo...

Not yet but give the quarantine a few more months and it might be back. I can already feel my hair move on the back of my head when I turn my head in the car. Maybe I'll kick off the Moog Manbun.

Re: Create a lightning strike in 5u?

Check out "It's a Sin" by Pet Shop Boys, around 25 seconds in, for inspiration. Sounds like white noise to filter, pink noise to filter cutoff, medium resonance, lotsa reverb.(Amin Bhatia with a Jupiter 8 if memory serves.)

Re: Berlin School links

Believe it or not, the first track of the new BT album "Game Theory" is very Krautrocky. The rest of the album is trance/dance music (and very good if you like that sort of thing, too.)

Going from MOTM to Euro helped me be less precious about the look of modules. But I like old-school spaced out modules, if I have the room.

I don't think Cliff jacks are the same thread as Switchcraft. Just some colored washers would do it, or even colored paper?

Doesn’t Davit have an all-Moon system? His stuff sounds pretty great. But I don’t know for sure what’s in his system. Check out his videos though.

$100k / 140 modules = $714 ea. Ok you get the cabinets but still yowza. That looks like the system they’ve dragged to namm, synthfest, etc.

I bought a bunch from ControlMod, their store brand I think. Low profile and good quality. All of my converter cables are grey, just worked that way and easy to see.

Re: Eurorack, next to 5U?

I recommend a bunch of 1/8"-1/4" mono cables, as well as a converter module on the 5U. At least in my system, the modules are often far enough that the cable runs get very long. So I have those conversion cables running all over.

Re: MOTM Filter Bank that never was

I feel like his intentions are good. I was hoping that he would port the old stuff to SMC then offer converter panels in 5U. But he’s moved on to crazy DSP modules with displays that wouldn’t be easy to port. I was hoping for a Morphing Terrarium with a decent looking panel but it never happened. At...

Roland System 700 video

Great stuff. There’s another piece of music he recorded with it linked in the video comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgtuOvhXGI4 Big, unique sound. You hear shades of SH-101 here and there but with a different spin on it. Really creative patching too, lots of stereo movement so listen on mo...

Re: MOTM Filter Bank that never was

LOL Paul strung us along for 10 years. "I'm going to make more MOTM, I have the parts. But Euro pays the bills. But I love MOTM. But it's too expensive to build. But here are 5 new modules coming in 2010. I just have to get through this kit backlog. OK, MOTM 4.0..." :) But I was admiring the build q...

MOTM Filter Bank that never was

This was from a "MOTM coming soon" announcement from Feb 2009 that I saved. Does anyone know if the FDNR filter bank was ever released in another form, as DIY or some other brand? I love "which explains the relative higher cost." Even the Dotcom filter bank is $319 (with more bands.) MOTM-450 Fixed ...

What are you gaining by having two in one? You would sell more at half the price and just let people buy two if they want. Feature creep is the enemy.
