Re: The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

I really liked the VS when it first came out, but never bought one. Years later, I bought my first Korg Wavestation, which I understand integrated Vector Synthesis (VS) technologies into its architecture. Would a Wavestation be a reasonable substitute for a VS? From memory, some of the Wavestation ...

Re: The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

Good list but it should include Digi-key which has both the VS Switches and Slider at much lower prices than Wine Country and the eBay sellers who list them. I replaced all the worn switches on my VS last year. The Digi-key website and catalog are not easy to navigate so these are the parts numbers...

Bert probably has one to sell you too, as an option. He’s pretty responsive to email.

Could someone post a demo of how ”alive” ut can sound? I’ve only been able to find old and really poorly recorded or boring sounding stuff on Youtube.

Re: Synton Fenix I and II

I owned a 1 for a little while recently before passing it along. It was...alive...my wife said it best and referred to it as "haunted. like it's got a ghost inside, it's so alive sounding." and i have to agree. There's something really special about the 1, even if the 2 is technically able to do muc...

Re: The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

Oh man, really glad you chimed in! I'm really excited to upgrade to 1.4 when you're back up and running, i've got 1.1 in my rack and it doesn't play super well with my Stereoping. I think a more permanent 5530 clone needs to happen at some point. My rack has what i *think* is either a WCS or KS SSM2...

Does someone know how to obtain the latest OS from ASL? I found only one way to contact them (via Reverb) but didn't get an answer from them (yet).
Maybe I’ll try this week. I have 1.1 in my rack so it’s worth updating!

Re: The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

Thanks for this! I've also looked in on the different OS's lately. Isn't there an extra option for extended range of tuning in the Austin Synth Labs OS? And are you sure Stereoping offers upgraded firmware? I could always ask them myself of coarse... From what i found, he was working on extended ra...

Congrats on your VS! I have a spare Leimseider 5530 that I can photograph & post here. I believe the design uses other hard to source components, though.
Please do! And thanks :)

Re: The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

Alright, so this has always been the only synth i've ever regretted selling 19 years ago or whatever and after all this time i finally broke down and pulled the trigger on another one. Over the years i've kept up with VS information here and there but it's disparate and far-flung so research into pi...

The Definitive Sequential Prophet VS resource thread

I've decided to create the Definitive Resource Thread for the Sequential Prophet VS. This is a collection of a lot of other people's work, threads on forums, old Synth DIY lists and a LOT of googling so this thread stands on the shoulders of giants. This will be updated regularly. Last Update 8.5.20...

It's not *only* drums, but i suggest checking out Billy Cobham for percussion-driven fusion. The albums Spectrum, Total Eclipse and Crosswinds are my personal favorites

S/He was as complicated as s/he was influential. As horrid as s/he was wonderful. One of those rare individuals who leaves an impression on everyone s/he came in contact with. Not all positive impressions, not all negative impressions. I'm not sure if s/he ended up being the resolution of opposites ...

I'm now a week into mine and i'm struggling to find a flaw. It's kind of perfect.

Re: Patch bay questions

Nice timing, I just did this exact thing. I was using a Soundcraft Signature 22MTK as my mixer & interface but it didn’t have enough Aux’s, so I had to rethink it. I ended up buying a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and a pal sent me his old patchbay. 8 synths are half normalled to 8 inputs on the Scarlett...

I'm gunna guess it's a Deluxe or a Custom. Those are usually in the 2700-3500 range, so i'd think it'd be around the 1800-2500. Pics would help a lot tho

Yeah, it really does. I've had my Fenix for a few months now and it's still a "back to the drawing board" with each patch, and each time i feel a little more comfy. Patching a Fenix I and II takes some getting used to. This thing maybe sounds good, but is ugly as hell. They really should hire a (or ...
