Re: Korg Prologue

What's the deal with Korg's crappy MIDI driver? Whenever I want to use the Prologue librarian software I find it has stopped working, and go through the cycle of downloading and installing various versions of the driver until it starts working again. All I wanted to do was check how many oscillator ...

Re: Hybrid Case?

If you use vector rails for a case it would be pretty easy to mix and match, you would just need each row to have slightly different horizontal spacing to allow for the different pitches of Frac & Euro. I doubt there's a commercially available case that allows for that, so it would have to be DIY.

Re: Blacet Frac Rack Dimensions Required?

Depends which one you mean - the old single row rack is 7" deep without the PS500 - I don't have one of those supplies so don't know how much that adds. Width is standard 19" with the rack ears attached. The newer rak3 is 6" deep, with an internal power supply.

dang, wish the shipping situation wasn’t so upside down. almost as much as the board/panels.
I took a look at the shipping rates, and was able to adjust them down by quite a bit. Not sure what I was looking at before, maybe the extreme heat had frazzled my brain :despair:

Re: Some new Frac Modules

Yes, they run on 15v ok - the datasheet specifies they can accept up to 18v. The modules are just an implementation of the datasheet.

Some new Frac Modules

After John Blacet passed away, I found it pretty difficult to source new Frac Modules, so I decided to make some of my own. I fabricated PCBs and panels for some modules I wanted in my system, and was happy with the results. I thought I'd offer them for sale to everyone else as well, as the Frac mar...

Has anyone got a part number (Mouser or anywhere) for the little black switches on the front panel? The choices are mind boggling.

I noticed that Alfa now have a 3397 listed as well, with a preliminary datasheet.

Re: Blacet Power Supplies

That supply is only 400mA, so by the time you allow some headroom, it will only power a small number of modules, certainly no more than 1 rack.

Re: [AVAILABLE] Blacet VCO2100 + build thread

Thanks for the links.

It looks like there is an alternative 2N4391 at Mouser, lead free I think @ £2.18. Maybe the other one is so expensive as it's not RoHS.

Re: [AVAILABLE] Blacet VCO2100 + build thread

My VCO panel & PCBs arrived here today. I'll probably stuff the board as much as I can with the parts I have on hand and then see what that leaves me to source. But I expect the LT1013 & LS318 to be tricky - I know I haven't got any of those.

Re: Making pcb front panels in KiCAD

I create the outline of my front panel in Front Panel Designer, and export as .DXF - this contains all the mounting holes. I then import that in pcbnew on eco1user and use it as a template to place the onboard components. Then I create a new project for the front panel, import the DXF file on the Ed...

Re: Blacet pot upgrade? (2100, Miniwave, Super VCA)

If they are scratchy you may need to use contact cleaner rather than a lubricant like WD-40. You should find plenty of info online about cleaning scratchy pots.

Having said that, look at this page on the Blacet site, where the lubrication info is listed.

It's been good fun playing with it so far. I think the run button could have done with being bigger, or at least moved to its own spot, it gets a bit lost being where it is.

Re: Sixty four pixel Noodlebox, 4x cv/gate/midi sequencer

Mine came this morning. It feels very solidly put together, and weighs more than you'd expect for something of its size. The display looks great, looking forward to try it out properly later. They also include a cheat sheet which is very handy.

I ordered a few of the kits from SynthCube as well. They arrived last night. It looks like we got a Rev B PCB set and a Rev A panel.

Re: Frac format FPD files for DIY

In general the hole pitches should follow the typical measurements on the example typical panel that is on the Blacet Tech Corner page - so 0.75in/19.05mm between centers vertically. The not so easy bit is where there are extras on the panel, like the LEDs on the WC, and the offset between pots/jacks.

Re: blacet from the backlog

I ordered a PCB/panel combo from Synthcube (that's all they had left), they sent me the build docs after I asked for them, and what they sent me is for the Rev B, so I assume that's what will turn up. I'm pretty sure the VCO was out of stock for a while before John released the Rev B, so would be su...

Does anyone have a Frac format .fpd of the Living VCOs? I managed to get hold of a PCB, it would be good to get some layout ideas before starting to build up the PCB.

Whereas in the UK people are trying to sell used ones on eBay for £255, £260, £280. Not a great bargain when it's £289 new.

Re: MiniWave Help

Regarding the noisy output, the first thing to do is check the easy to do things - have you tried a different cable? Also check the wiring to the output socket from the PCB, and the socket itself. It should be easy to check those as it looks like it's a panel mounted jack. If it doesn't turn out to ...
