Re: EHX 2880 looper - still worth it?
For lofi I like the Russian Analog Fox LoFi looper. The guy who makes them is awesome. Swedish mail was trolling us both and suddenly I had two. I offered to send it back and got an offer to buy it at half price. It's very basic though, nothing like the EHX.

Re: Behringer VCS3
What is the missing knob around the joystick for? The original has one more. It is most likely the "rate" potentiometer for the Portamento/glide modification. The mod itself costs £45. Here is a close up of another modified VCS3 with that knob... https://i.ibb.co/k2S55RX/1918-richard-kim-3-1.jpg I'...

Re: Soundtoys Bundle
Is it software specific? I've deactivated things on my ilok account, and this page on soundtoys's website seems to imply the same thing: https://support.soundtoys.com/article/57-using-the-ilok-license-manager. You just need to use the license manager on the computer you have it activated on to make...

Re: Soundtoys Bundle
I just activated my 2nd (final) ilok activation of Soundtoys. Already lost Exponential Audio R4 and Nimbus, which gave you one activation, so goodbye to them I guess. I thought you could remove computers and add new ones as you moved to new upgraded hardware, but no. I'm so done with ilok and anyth...

Re: Korg Opsix
The Opsix sounds like it’s capable of changing our general perspective of what FM synthesis sounds like. Does it have sample bit reduction? / some sort of compression fx or quality? It would be very interesting with e.g. patches that combines a grungy or digital compressed -early sampler-like sound...

Thanks for the tip. The Tascam 202 only has it on one side.indexofmetals wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:43 pmI highly recommend a Denon DN-780R, dual cassette recorder. I picked one up on ebay for £20 a few years ago. It's got separate pitch control on each side plus stereo mic input with level control.

Re: Modern Cassette Recorders
I have the new 202. I bought it because it was brand new with pitch control, quite rare these days. It's been solid. If you're just testing to see if it's for you, maybe start with something used. There's no shortage of cassette decks for sale. Good to know it is solid, so the sound quality for run...

Re: Is there 1 synth you wish the most would make comeback next?
I would love to see someone release something in the spirit of Ensoniq. I have the ESQ1 and the Mirage, and think they are wonderfully laid out (the ESQ1 at least). Complex digital sounds, with an intuitive interface. Why is that so hard to do in 2020? At this point I'd be happy if Arturia made any...

Re: Did anyone start big and no regrets?
I started out by filling out half a P9 case with Pittsburgh modules to create a basic 3-oscillator mono. Still have that and then some, but my most used case is a Make Noise CV-bus. It's all based around the Phonogene/Morphagene combo.

I recently got the Cooper FX Arcades with a Generation Loss card. I'm in love with it. You can of course add any card you want to it. It came with a mix of FX on a card called Pastiche.

Re: Korg Opsix
I bought one a couple of days ago. Proper polyphony feels nice after all mono and four voice synths I've collected. Very hands-on and intuitive interface. Now I just need to recreate the default Volca FM patch

It emulates transformers, not tape, but Kazrog True Iron is pretty nice for boosting things up. Also, another vote for Satin from me if you want reel to reel. I use XLN RC-20 quite often too. It's perfect for a lot of things.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Announced
I think Live 11 is more a "Live 10.2" than a Live 11. I sure hope PDC in Live 11 is better. Ableton tends to give decimal incremental version numbers for bug fixes, new hardware support and occasional device tweaks and they are free. Whenever it introduces new features it uses a full version increm...
