Re: Patching Panda Vibrazum v2

In the synth guy video I think that is just the result of high resonance combined with the filter set to emphasize the frequency of the oscillator. If you back off the resonance a bit you shouldnt get that "thwump" sound. I'm not sure I hear distortion or even see any clipping on the scope on the di...

Re: Patching Panda Vibrazum v2

I'm considering adding this filter to my rack as it seems so versatile. The few demos available seem to show that it sounds pretty smooth, except for a bit of grit, especially in the lower frequencies, when under medium-fast modulation - like fast envelopes. For any owners out there, how smooth is ...

Re: Retail orgone accumulator.

I love my Orgone. Really underrated I would say.
Only thing that was always puzzling to me is the fairly small range on the pitch knob compared to pretty much every other osc I've ever owned.

Wow I never knew there was level adjustment. Thank you! If there is any module that desperately needs an in depth tutorial it's this one..or a manual rewrite!

Looking for some free software that produces visuals that responds to live sound

I'm participating in a virtual gig and rather than just broadcast vid of me at my modular i'm thinking about having some visuals instead. is there any free or fairly cheap software that will respond live to what im playing with some abstract/psychedelic imagery? I don't need anything crazy, just som...

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

The encoders respond a little less to acceleration now so yea if you wanna really crank thru banks it takes more encoder turns. I dont think it's intended to be a fix. Faulty encoders will inevitably get worse. But with the options for repair being limited due to the virus it's better than nothing f...

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

I'm pretty sure optical encoders have a larger number of soldering points than mechanical encoders and it would be more complicated than just swapping them out unfortunately.

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

For those having issues with encoders, I spoke with Xaoc and they sent me a firmware update (2.0.2) that addresses faulty encoder behavior. Mine is still under warranty fortunately but will have to wait till things settle down on the virus front as their person to send repairs to in the states is un...

Re: Ochd by Instruo / DivKid

Def avoid purchases listed as "arriving soon" from PC. They've been great otherwise, but I ordered a keystep pro when it had that status, saw them going out to customers from different shops and contacted them to ask when they might be receiving it and they said they had no idea and they would proba...

Re: Random*Source Resonant Equalizer... or?

It's a great sounding module and the lack of cv isnt an issue. Just use some of the patching examples others have pointed out to compensate. I have only regretted selling two modules and this was one of them.

Re: My Intellijel performance psu -12v rail seems to have died :(

I'm not any sort of expert on power but if it were me I would examine the ribbon cable to see if it looks okay. Check the headers and see if they are biting into the ribbon cable at the correct spots. I've very rarely heard of instances where the ribbon cables headers were misaligned like that. If n...

Re: Ochd by Instruo / DivKid

Thanks for the above. Have been waiting to buy this module. Think it was $195 shipped to LA. Just putting out a personal opinion but I literally go to all the other modular places before perfect circuit. Not really intentionally at first, but they don’t have competitive prices and I have spent a lo...

no its certainly not necessary but too slow and the stepping becomes more apparent. just depends on what kind of modulation you're after.

Re: CV Processing recommendations?

I manipulate the four outputs of the E102 but mostly for melodic purposes. I loop, arpeggiate, and offset the voltages coming out of the E102 to add variations on the "theme" which is incoming in the E102, and from the spread out to the various voices. Curious to what other ideas people will have. ...

Re: Hey how bout some friggin feedback bub?

I like it but its going to take a few firmware updates before I love it. They left out some very basic functionality..like the mod strip cant be assigned to the the mod cv outputs, only midi, even though the pitch wheel works on the cv pitch outs which is so basic its pretty embarrassing its not imp...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

Anyways, the DLD does a great job of reversing the buffer without clicking, by cross fading out the click. But that’s not to take away from the Mimeophon, it is an awesome delay with many cool tricks on board and gets equal use from me as my DLD. Yep! I have both in my system and it doesn't feel ex...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

I just think they are different tools geared towards different things. One is a looper pedal, one is a crazy delay/filter/reverb combo with some looping capabilities included. If I were looking for something for looping, this wouldn't even be on my radar. Both have their strengths and weaknesses jus...

Re: New MakeNoise module: Mimeophon

I can replicate this behavior but my suspicion is it has to do with the fact that when you instantly change the audio buffer you are going to get an audible click unless the voltage more or less matches when you make the change. If for example you record a sine wave in a daw, then cut a section and ...

What are some of your favorite ways you’ve been able to combine the ‘logue and the modular? I am always looking for interesting ways to bring those worlds closer. Re: CV Processing recommendations?

Maths, or roll your own with various Doepfer utilities like Precision Adder, Comparator, Seq Switch, etc. Stepping through the various stepped random with a switch and then process the CV through Maths, maybe in quadrature mode? Lots of things to do here. You might not be able to roll all 4 outputs...

Re: CV Processing recommendations?

Yea with all of the quad cv modules out there it just seems there's a giant hole for this sort of thing. One of my favorite things about the e102 is that since its delay stages can be set so long, if you run the clock at audio rate and send a curvy envelope into the input, you can get some fairly hi...

CV Processing recommendations?

I'm looking for a module to use along with my synth tech e102's four stepped voltage outputs that manipulate those voltages in different ways..slew, maybe slew and fold them, freeze the incoming voltage, etc. I recognize there are individual modules that can do this but is there a module out there t...
