Re: Eurorack Rhythm Bank

Another option is to find percussion books or conduct an Internet search on common world rhythmic patterns and simply program them into a sequencer. Godfried Toussaint‘s book is a good start, but his writing can easily get far too esoteric. One thing he notes is that certain rhythmic patterns are mo...

When I can’t sleep, I often listen to this sort of techno. It is sort of trance inducing.

Morelli was also in Two Dogs in a House. His Disappear LP is a pretty great. I’m not so crazy about some of the ambient stuff.

In addition to Regis, check out British Murder Boys, Rrose, Function, Female, Silent Servant, Surgeon, and Pessimist.

Re: Wishing Roland would make a Alpha Boutique?

On Reverb.com, the MKS-50s are going for $400-$600. Over Christmas, I picked up one for around $500 plus state sales tax, and it is in beautiful condition. Seeing the JU06 boutique goes for $400, buying used seems a better option than getting a new 4 voice, tiny box version. The keyboard Alpha Junos...

Re: Qubit wave

Working from memory, The Qu-Bit Wave needs a 16-bit mono wav file that is stripped of some coding. You can use the program TipTop wrote to convert wav files into the acceptable form. Both companies use the same format; however, each company has a different naming convention. With the Wave, the name ...

Re: Qubit wave

With Windows, you can use Audacity to convert and download samples to the Wave module. Go to TipTop’s website, yes TipTop, and find the manual for the Audio One sample player. In the manual, you will find a short batch file written for Audacity that converts wav files into a One compatible format. T...

The Stepper Acid will sound out notes as you program. It’s actually a nice feature that I have grown to like very much.

ive never been happy with the results i’ve gotten using distortion pedals with line level gear so I’ve really avoided using them.
I’ve found that a reamp box is typically needed when using modular or line level equipment with guitar distortion pedals.

Re: osc / filter / distortion acid combination

I have the Erica bass line, and at least to me, it really doesn’t sound like a TB-303. However, it does sound great for everyday bass duty. Another option is the XOX Heart. Some find it closer sounding to the TB-303 than the Acidlab module. I find it harsher sounding than the Acidlab module, which i...

Check out Acidlab m303 for the classic acid voice and filter. Distortion comes in many flavors. Maybe one of Noise Engineerings Ruina series would be a good fit for you? Re: Metasonix R-56 - which external reverb tank?

It’s best to use a tank with the correct input and output impedances. From the R-56 manual: A spring with an input impedance of 300 ohms or more and an output impedance of 1000 ohms or more is mandatory. When I had the R-56, I found a catalog that list impedances for each tank by, I believe, Accutro...

Re: WMD Metron sequencer

Unfortunately, the Voltera doesn’t quite fit in the shallow Pod. The power and expansion headers make it too deep. The module might fit if right angle headers were used, but I haven’t really looked into that option. Actually, that would probably make it hard to mount several Volteras side by side . ...

I really enjoy the Erica bass line synth module, and I do not find it too aggressive or acidic. In the demo videos I’ve seen, Erica seems to lay on the distortion rather heavy. Without effects, I find the synth very precise, punchy, dark, and woody sounding. The sub osc really gives it body, and yo...
