Re: Korg Wavestate
Does anyone have this that had a Wavestation before? I loved the Wavestation sound and the Wavestate seems to sound even better, but I was so frustrated with the Wavestation programming in every sense that I sold it and promised myself never again. As I'm reading the negatives with programming this...

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.
I have both a Squier and a Fender Jazz and I can't see wanting anything else in the four string format, but that's just me.
Clearly there's nothing wrong with a Precision as evidenced by their ubiquity, but the Jazz neck and sound has always worked well for my hands and ears.

Re: any cool solid state guitar amps?
**Rolls up sleeves** I'm a huge fan of the Boss Nextone series. Just an all-round, good sounding amp, tastefully done, with everything you need in terms of EQ and FX send/return. The tube emulations are horseshit, so just stick the four way switch on any one of the four settings and forget about it;...

Re: AJH Synth - the world needs to know
Buying a set of the original AJH modules a couple of years back cured my GAS for the reissue Model D (and, let's be honest, they do a lot more at a less expensive price point once things like hard sync and PWM are taken into account).

Moog Audio Toronto is sadly no more. It always had a bit of a precarious location and the current situation was probably the final nail in the coffin. Montreal is still open though.

Re: Korg Wavestate
The problem with comparing the WS and Hydra (I've owned both) is that there's no effective way of providing the depth of sequencing options in the WS without resorting to menu diving. It would be nicer to have the multiple screens the Hydra features, but even if it had as many there would still be t...

It ends its life with bugs unfixed, features never implemented or implemented in really awkward and illogical ways not deserving to be associated with the Linn brand and its history of ergonomic and thoughtful interface design, and a giant middle finger to people who paid a premium price for someth...

Re: Rotary Pedals
I've craved a proper rotary speaker for donkey's years, but even the cheapest new Leslie-style speakers seem to come in somewhere north of $1300. If only there was a fellow, perhaps a slightly controversial Swiss one, who could take a crack at the issue and come up with a $500 solution.

Finally took delivery of mine after a 14 week wait. First world problems.... After reading all the complaints about the keybed I'm pleasantly surprised it's fine for my needs, though an extra octave or two would've been appreciated. I get the sense I'm going to have to spend a not insignificant amou...

Sorted. Hardly. Even a pet monkey to flip and tally will be larger than an actual circuit as requested. Hard to fit in a module and needing upkeep besides! I don't see how the pennies -even if conduxctive copper- can be shoved into the preloads pins of a counter. Not to mention doing all this at ev...

If only I'd known this before I bought that AJH-based Eurorack system a couple of years ago. I guess my ears have deceived me into thinking such a puny module design could provide rich, fat sound. Ah well.

Re: Behringer Mono/Poly!
That demo sounds horrible! Nothing close to the richness and timbral variety of the mono/poly I've owned and performed/recorded with for the last 22 years. But, we can't rule out "operator error" for this demo, it doesn't seem the performer figured out what to do with the cross-mod or filter settin...

New Order are (and were) boring live, except for Peter Hook. If you could have four mid-80s Peter Hooks on stage (with the requisite mountain of cocaine it would take to power said band) it would make for quite a performance.

Re: what is your favorite amp?
Yes, those nextone amps look and sound like snake oil to me. I've listened to the demos - lots of them - and can't hear any significant difference between the tube types. It's still a nice sounding amp though. My mesa boogie is set up with el34's on the outside, and 6L6gc's on the inside, so you ca...
