Of course it's significant. Simple example: Control the decay time of the VCA envelope with your VCO's pitch sequence: Higher pitches will have a shorter decay, lower pitches will have a longer decay. Just like a string Instrument. Everybody will recognize that. And you can go further. Now for exam...

Absolutely significant. The listener might not know or care, but the ear is cleverer. We'll subconsciously pick up relationships between changes in timbre, timing, whatever, and perceive it as a more unified whole than if everything was independent. i'm unconvinced. i suppose that over the length o...

while some may be able to tell how you've done anything -- people do make successful careers from music tech -- i don't think you can expect anyone to care how you've modulated cv, rather than which effects you've used and modulated... not when we're talking about changing several different effect u...

How often is parallel cv processing significant?

someone said Running the same CV to different modules is normally so they have some 'relationship', say Filter (VCF) to pitch of a VCO. but i think about using the same cv to control e.g. two wildly different effects. so you're running e.g. 12378s46s9 to both a distortion unit and a frequency shifte...

The top section of Dynamo is good if you want dynamic modulation of something -- a VCA (for compression) or a filter or wavefolder etc. I've used it along with a Shades (to offset the CV) and VCA to keep a feedback loop going forever but prevent it from clipping, for instance. It's not much use alo...

Can you do anything nuts just with noise and a bastl dynamo

I hope the question isn't awful, though at least it isn't entirely generic. I have enough HP in a portable box to make some noise, and have 5hp left over [and a bastle dynamo] https://bastl-instruments.com/content/files/manual-dynamo-web.pdf Just wondered -- rather than going to unplug the current p...

i have two questions does anyone run their entire -- noise -- whatever that means -- mix through the clouds? what do you think of it in those terms, is it bit too obvious, etc,? right now I only use clouds with a thunder patch input from the mother 32. I was having trouble getting the crack before ...

i did not like clouds when i watched the video, felt it lacked punch. however, i just purchased one and wiggling the thing, naively, is a tonne of fun. i have two questions does anyone run their entire -- noise -- whatever that means -- mix through the clouds? what do you think of it in those terms,...

this is a test of running the whole -- here pretty stripped back -- mix through a clouds and then running one of the stereo channels through two death metal distortions... not sure, but it doesn't help that i'm kinda deaf in one ear anyway https://soundcloud.com/noise_tests/clouds-test [/s] does it ...

clouds

i just got one today. in 8hp.
i was thinking of pairing it with a geiger counter before or after it... or maybe running the whole mix through it, as it is stereo.
any ideas? can't use the thing at all yet...

it'll mostly be static noises and maybe some squealing, in the main mix.

hey mungo The active buffer is played through once on every incoming positive edge. It times the edges and keeps the play length matched after a couple of clocks or pulses at a steady rate. that is in fact what i expected from the manual, just didn't seem the way when i played the thing :sadbanana: ...

just got a 2nd hand s0, and i quite like it, though i'm a little annoyed that i can't trigger the top sample player with an un-boosted addac304 gate signal, even though one can the bottom looper section. could it be it needs exactly 5 volts so analogue gates don't work? anyway, i'm confused about th...

can someone explain to me, roughly, what this is ? i mean it sounds a bit like fm. i have no idea what the "mod" is, a filter perhaps, but of what sort? what is "track", and does it have anything to do with 3rd oscillator? are the "two amplifiers" controlled by "drive"? i like randomly hitting stuff...

pros and cons of maths over specific utility modules

i am considering getting a couple of maths, weighing it against modules which perform functions that it can.

all i can see is

pros: maths will have further functionality
cons: maths will not be able to have as much functionality at once

am i missing anything?

Am I right that 2 took boxes can be used to hard clip a signal?

And anyway, what is the comparator threshold set at?

seems like maybe the y amplitude is being affected by frequency. when i run a resonant filter's output thru it [Intellijel Korgasmatron II] as frequency drops the y axis does, down to silence at lower rates. i have tried this on direct and capped settings. unless attaching something to the x input c...

i stripped a modular wire, and attached it to the scope, which i have received today.

i get some readable data from audio signals, if i play with the x controls (which i don't really understand yet). however, no such like with an lfo, i just get a flat signal.

any ideas ?
