Re: Filter Output Mixing Tricks

You might look at the manual for Schippmann’s VCF-02. It has many examples of filters combined to make other filters.

Re: Heisenberg Generator Plan B Model 24

I’m pretty sure the Plan B Heisenberg is long out of production. G iven the number of difficulties w/ Plan B designs you might be better off looking for something else. Many good modules are suggested above.

Re: VERBOS ELECTRONICS

Sometimes with Verbos, modules with their many envelope followers and outputs, it feels like I’m tending a fire that’s about to go out. Especially with the Multi-Delay. Often the envelopes would stop or stay at max if I were to walk away, but if I just keep the knobs in motion, and monitor the situa...

Re: Best random generator for musical phrases

I like to play my guitar against random Marbles scales. I think I do things on the guitar that I wouldn’t otherwise do. It’s fun to pretend like the synth is alive and expand on the fucked up things it does.

Re: NEW from La 67: LR4 VC Crossover

One of the problems with the res 4 is that it doesn’t have individual outs per band. Seems like you could get three of them out with this. That sounds pretty good to me. :tu:

Seems like you could use this to — kind of — split out individual bands from a Cwejman Res 4.

Milton’s Monster

There is an online presentation which partially deals with the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center’s famous early synth, which was informally known as Milton’s Monster after Milton Babbitt. I’m not sure it counts as a modular, but I thought folks would be interested. I believe it was made by ...

Re: Doepfer or different alternative?

If you’re into weird, the Doepfer A196 Pll is cool. Their a149-1 random is pretty Buchla-esqu at a fraction of the price of the more expensive options in Eurorack. Many good filters in Doepferland, too. For a tame wave folder I’ve always thought the A137-1 sounds good. It’s gotten some criticism aro...

Re: OMG! Lots of good VCAs!

My Xaoc Praga has vcas that were sounding pretty nice the other night. You probably don’t need a Praga if you don’t need all it’s mixing capabilities, but I’m 63% sure that the vxcas are the same as Tallin.

Re: Best random generator for musical phrases

I like the Plan B Heisenberg because the stepped out does not have truly random timing. It was designed to be more musical. I hesitate to mention it because there was so much trauma and grief w/ Plan B. If you find a used one, examine it closely. There were build issues with some of this stuff, but ...

Re: Is Eurorack just extreme consumerism?

I find this kind of questioning of consumerism refreshing. Eurorack can definitely veer toward extreme consumerism, but it doesn’t have to and there are countervailing tendencies.

The small rack threads of late have been some of my favorite to read.

I have become very dependent on my oscilloscope. I often imagine something entirely different is happening than what my oscilloscope shows me. Listening is still the most important thing, but visualization is also pretty important.

Re: Crossfading sequential switch - does it exist?

Switches do vary in there clickiness. Some are defintely quieter. If you’re putting a bunch of audio sources through something like a WMD Sequential Switch Matrix (SSM), you can put the audio through a vca with decay first. This can eat a lot of vcas. I think the Livestock Electronics Maze has a rea...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

It’s just that the act of dismissing an entire genre is almost always suspect, and there has been a fair amount of that in the thread above. I guess that’s all part of the Metasonix bad-ass, super-extreemo, I-can-shock-your-wimpo-baby-man-ass, company image. I’m kind of sick of that attitude these d...

Re: "Get lost in the sounds of YouTube’s growing ambient modular synth community"

I like house plants and distortion. And for the record, modular ambient uses too much reverb and 1940s Jazz has way too many saxophones and Metal uses way too much dropped tuned guitar and way to many down shifted vocals. Prog rock? Way, way too many synths. Rock? Is anyone sick of guitars yet?.. It...

Re: Cwejman owners, current or past

I wanted to follow up on some comments above about low signal levels with the BLD. It does have erratic seeming levels at times, but I think that the reason is that it actually has an onboard vca and envelope and when they are in the wrong position the level can be low. Actually the module sports bo...

Re: Cwejman owners, current or past

It can help your wallet’s mood if you by version 1 of modules that have a v2. Of course then you won’t have the newest and latest.
