Re: Is Megaohm still in business?

I have MA20 from Megaohm. Really characterful filter with a musical resonance. Interesting fact - it’s only one module in my system with push-pull pot. I have the MA20 which I think I bought from Phils own modular as he was selling some of his stuff.... no idea what a push pull pot does, I need to ...

Edit: Can't help but think how the lamp-LED turn-on can be likened to a snappy EG attack. That more than 'fastest' matters.
Isn't that the whole 'Vactrol' thing? using the turn on and turn off in a LED to generate an organic slope response for a filter?

genuinely asking this question....

Re: Dotcom's Easy Panel Parts Replacement. Have you needed it?

I haven't needed to order anything from Dotcom other than an upgraded Q170 Chip. However, ( and the recent threads on TTSH vs KARP2600) have confirmed, maintenance is very important in seeing a long life on these things. I feel reassured that getting a UK fix on dotcom modules would be straightforwa...

Iv'e blocked all the youtube hustler synth channels. intially read this as some sort of old fashioned 'sexy ' synth videos that I had not previously been aware of. reminds me of the story within the Harald Grosskopf Synthesist liner notes, of him having to point an anglepoise lamp at the innards of his minimoog to keep the temp stable in his freezing flat in Berlin in the 70s. I always think of this, when I inwardly complain about some little problem with reco...

Aha, I remembered that when Ross hung up his tools, someone from netherlands came over to visit him and learn from the master.

that'll be gouldcaseworks.

So that was who I was going to recommend. haven't used them but Ross spoke highly of him, and with Goike authorisation, they'll be nice cases.

If you are sequencing externally, dont forget the passive mults to send trigger/gate to more than one module.

most of my patches need a fair bit of McGuyvering due to lack/distance from my one passive Mult module.

Re: 5U sounding Oscillator, not in 5U format?

AJH Synth modules and a .mix from STG would sound good. Josaka is right though, 5U is all about stacking Oscs. So any good sounding analogue oscillators into a CP3 mixer will sound good. for cheap and 5U modelled, you could go for the Behringer system 55 clones, or for a 'better' oscillator, the AJ...

As stated above I am on a similar path and still finding my way with 5U - but my personal thoughts looking at this: - I find some of the dotcom ++ modules to have too many functions and be a little too cramped. One of the reasons I am moving away from Eurorack. Although I can see their usefulness i...

you can have COTK on either the COTK connector or dotcom connector, just say at the point of ordering. I know Someone who forgot to specify this, and got COTK connectors, and was able to swap out to a dotcom fairly easily.

Re: Macro Oscillator in 5U (THT based on "Plaits")

I have a few occasional issues with mine, which I have now moved to a better case to rule out Power supply issues. when moving to a new case, I get the dreaded double LED, where apart from the first setting, I get a static AND flashing LED, which follows down the modelling selection. and I dont thin...

I dont think so, check out the MC707 thread as there is a Roland sheet going round that shows off each zen core devices abilities.

From memory.

MC707/101 cannot use drum sounds from sound packs and cannot work with model expansions.

all subject to change thats the land as it lies.

I think AB testing is the road to madness, if it sounds good, then be happy it sounds good. I know I put a lot of unconscious bias whenever doing these things, so I dont look for the marginal gains. I used to subscribe to Audiophile Magazine, So enjoy all the deep listening and analysis that comes w...
