Hi OS. I too have a Mac and Cubase 9 - - - so I'm not able to use the packed software in Cubase. I downloaded the Mac Beta the other day and slotted it into my VST3 folder. Fine. It worked. But I couldn't register it and now it has timed out. Obviously reloading works, but only for a short while. I ...

Paranormal Patroler - I am on it :) As I said previous... please stand in line nicely :) Eventually it will be the full rig over there with record...

Hi Paranormal... only option to Azores from UK is SATA or TAP. British airways can do the first leg to Lisbon... but then transfer to SATA. I believe they do have a thing regarding musical instruments - I will be sure to check that out. Obviously will let you know any details I find. I'm still feeli...

Add: Can someone make a Les Dawson Module please... y'know, it takes the note input and then chucks out something related but not quite right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nNGlaiVypU That would be hilarious. For our US friends who may not be familiar, enjoy this lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Hi Paranormal. Yes, initially for the next two or three years I will be just using the place as a holiday home, so I will be back and forth (twice a year). My intention is 3 months during the summer and one month across christmas/new year. So limiting my employment time to 8 months per year :) Then,...

Thanks Baleen... Yea I have worked 20+ years in teaching (with a small 't' - I'm actually a technical specialist / adviser at Uni)... so the production process is high on my agenda. That, plus 10 years as a pro-studio proprietor (back in the day when they existed! / made sense). So I could class mys...

Just to chip in - if you can I'd do a 2 stage HP filtering: 12db at around 35Hz followed by a 48db at 20Hz. That should get you a lot less mud, nice gradual tail off between the 40Hz - 20Hz range, and then a good clearance around the bottom ultra-lows. I do this in software (Cubase) and it gives all...

Hi Dubonaire. Thanks for your suggestion. Only two carriers to the Azores from the UK ; SATA or TIP ... mostly SATA. I agree about the potential cost - but when you are talking £6000 - £8000 worth of modular, it sort of pales into insignificance. If it costs a few hundred to get it there... well, I'...

Hi Chrisso... no import tax worries (at the moment... UK to Europe) No - for these two or three cases it would be a one-way trip from the UK to the Azores (Portuguese Islands). I am settled with my module selection (out of the full rig I have plenty to choose from!). Also - I can, when visiting swap...

There is no such thing as 'cheating' when it comes to making music. As long as the resultant composition, selection of sounds / creation of sounds, editing (if used), mixing and arranging comes from your own intellect. Even algorithmic techniques are not cheating, as you, as the producer, have had i...

Moving a eurorack system overseas

Hi y'all I'm looking at getting a place abroad to spend a few months of the year at. But life without my modular would be a no no  So I am looking at the best ways of getting some of my rig moved... I have looked at the flying option and the the 'carry on' threads. Sounds like a right nightmare...

I use the Unify with expander, allowing me to mix 8 different sound sources before sending out to Cubase (in my case). This is particularly useful when synthesising a drum / percussion track, or when trying to create a complex multilayered voice. As mentioned before, you can pan each channel in ster...

Yea, superior design. Just pop your tinned wire in the hole, heat up and add a little more solder to the hole. No way you will get a short. Just make sure that you have a nice long pice of tinned wire to go into the hole and push it in right up to the wire's insulation. :guinness: Edited to add.... ...

The bigger your rig gets the less inclined you are to do a re-order! When I started out then swapping it around was easy. Now not so much. I think you need a combination of techniques to get a nice fat and moving sound: 1/ Slight random detune ( slow vibrato or very subtle FM) 2/ Some PWM if available on your oscillators 3/Chorus module feeding into a delay (perhaps with some really subtle time modulation). All of the above should give...
