OO! there's a Z-axis in already behind a panel on the back. I will definitely let you know how I get on with it. Perhaps it's worth looking at how that was implemented on the heathkit to mod a different scope. Looks pretty simple. http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=39753 I have a Heath...

any news? would love to join the plan! Glad to hear you're interested! I very recently (week ago) rekindled some work on this after a handful of major life changes (baby, relocation, new job). I think the most likely way for me to move forward on this is with a couple revamps. The previous plan was...

Checked on my scope and got 4.36v

I have a plan. It'll be a little bit before kits, but thanks to everyone's feedback the path is clear.

I'll post when some more progress.

Hey all. It has come to my attention that the 3Trins "High" voltage level is different on different units. Mine gives over 4v, others give under 3v. I've heard that 3.3v is about standard. I am going to pause and try to get some more specifics. The cd4046 max frequency is notably sensitive to these ...

I am setting up some panel designs using FPD... Can anyone recommend what thickness to use for the panels?

Thanks and cheers!

https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/8637_img_4726_1.jpg This is how I soldered them up to use with a VGA synth I was making. For this to work with 3Trins, you either want the opposite polarity in wiring of pins 3 and 14... or you want to invert the composite sync signal (which is what I am d...

I use the actual composite video from 3Trins, the onboard sync signals (Rsin, etc) never worked for me either. As for the wiring... Pin14 on 4046 gets wired to whatever sync you are using... so if want Hsync from LM1881, that is pin 1 "composite sync". If going straight from LM1881, then pin3 on 404...

A couple more video links here. These show using an 8-step sequencer and 1x 4046-VCO (sent to Red channel on 3Trins). It is fun when the sequencer is clocked at audio rates. One video is just noodling with the sequencer, and even 'syncing' the sequence crudely with the Vsync sent to the RESET on seq...

Here is a link to a video example of 1x 4046 VCO with the 3TRINS. I have made a breakout for the 3Trins header bay, and I am using that for patching. Power is coming from the breakout-bay (so from 3Trins headers) goes to the breadboards that have the 4046 and LM1881 (and an inverter) on them. At ver...

For those interested, the circuit is quite simple. The following I learned while reading about the Thomas Henry 4046 VCO built around the cd4046 ic: The CD4046 ic has a built-in VCO (that reaches up into MHz frequencies) and was designed as a PLL with two different types of phase comparators. One of...

question: does this really work on the power from the patchbay? it / (mine) only outputs 2.6 volt and the LM1881 needs 5-12 volt (says the spec sheet) Works on mine. I'll make a video tonight and post to show. I will also measure my header output for comparison. If I make these, I could send you on...

3TrinsRGB+1c triple VCO

Hi everyone. Let me first say that I am not a forum wizard by any means, and I apologize if I mess up any posting protocols while attempting to share and update this thread. I have been tinkering with an add-on VCO circuit for the 3TrinsRGB+1c video synth. The VCO circuit is built around the cd4046 ...

My DNA does this, too. I noticed it right away. Mostly I don't like it, unless I'm in the mood to make it sound sort of "acid-slide-y", which is rare. *BUT* I love the module for other things... specifically for drones and for video-synthesis crossover (while droning). Although it doesnt have a sync...

I asked about this concept on the FB Video Circuits forum and got a useful response that confirms what I measured. The VCC controls the max output of the IC, even if the Vi exceeds it. However, this can be damaging to the IC (which I thought might be the case)... so its probably not a good idea, or ...

Ok, thanks. And just to be clear... I am suggesting (not saying I am correct, tho) that the 74hc14 IC provides this protection when it is powered on the Vcc pin by the 3Trins. I am not patching straight to the 3trins inputs... I am going *through* the comparator circuit that uses the IC. In posts ab...

ok... i guess what I'm saying is I monitored all the outputs, and they don't (yet) exceed the 3Trins HIGH output that powers the IC (because of the IC design). So I was trying to suggest from this that perhaps the IC itself provides such protection when/because the Vcc is coming from the 3Trins. I g...

BTW... I know that the Eurorack voltages (10 Vpp) exceed the recommended MAX operating levels for the 74hc14 specified in the datasheet (6V), but it seems to be doing OK, and I have run these chips off of 9V batteries fine before without a regulator. I should be very clear that this *may yet* prove ...

IC output is limited by Vcc (which is supplied by 3Trins)

Hi all, I had tried to ask about this idea before, but I don't think I was clear (at all), so I poked around with my multimeter to find out for myself (before plugging into 3Trins)... As I understand... The output of the IC used in the comparator circuit is limited by the Vcc sent to it. So, since i...

Yeah. It is primarily a WAV player, and there is an Envelope Follwer CV output. Newer models may have different features, I am not sure. I have a really early model I got off ebay a few years back. My demo (nothing but 'Trins and comparator

Patch connections were loose to the comparator, so the effect blinks on and off throughout the video. In the end, I kind of like that about this video for a demo's sake. You see how a simple 3Trins Patch underlies the nice patterns you get by adding the comparator circuit. No video input or outside ...

Wait... So... Can I hit the comparator inputs with 0-10 V without damaging the 3trins? Please pardon my ignorance. I've been only using the 3trins patch points for the comparator inputs... And then using other CV sources to hit the bias jacks.
