Re: And for the next one, A Kobol
I miss my Kobols, if they have used the new SSI chips I would be interested. They won't be using SSI chips, they have their fabless Coolaudio division for any required exotic/discontinued semiconductors including stuff like the BA662, 3340, 2044, BBD chips (that even Roland have used), vactrols, AD...

Re: Kawai K Series
The K1 was my first synth, great for pads and vocal things, but obviously no filter so it stumped me how to get sounds I desired on the records I had. K3 as mentioned was great, but at the time I also had a Microwave and a Prophet VS and they covered similar ground and it went. I didnt find much to ...

Re: 2020 Holiday Waiting Game
I have a little case that should land next week. Paused on some purchases from mainland Europe however as the thought of things floating around with Brexit and Covid happening is not appealing in the slightest.

I'm guessing the type of stuff your on about is similar to the things you hear on Jarre type stuff as well.
A nicely modulated self oscillating filter gets you in the ball park for most of that stuff

Re: PSA: Junkie XL massive 5U sale
Only wanted the Kobol stuff, really good price. The shipping and prices is just ridiculous on everything else. I would have been pissed if I didnt already have my quota.. decent P .. I will be pissed when someone offers them for sale at a hugely inflated price like they do with the KARP 2600!

Re: 5U System VS Moog products
Nearest I got to poly modular was my System 100M with a 184 keyboard. As mentioned above with the Oberheim 4/8 voice, it is a pain. The results were nothing amazing and indeed a proper poly synth sounds as good. Whilst I think people have a misty eyed idea of voices having small differences that wil...

The tuning issue would force my choice for the 921 straight away.

Re: VCAs with 2 (or more) CV inputs - discussion
My problem with the idea of a multi-CV VCA is that it's unclear whether the CV inputs are summed or applied one after another. (Then again, I'm way too young to care about the classics and secretly think that the A in VCA stands for "attenuator". Also, the Behringer 902's panel design is completely...

Re: Alternative to Waldorf Streichfett?
I've had a few vintage stringers, if that is the sound your after then there are a few things to remember. The ensemble is a huge part and also the polyphony, most stringers are not limited when it comes to this and that makes up a big part of how they are played and sound. There are a few soft emul...

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths
Appreciate its all about opinions but I'm surprised to see the xpanders interface bashed - it's probably the best non one knob per function synth I've used. A very quick and intuitive workflow. I think it is some times that people just do not gel with a synth, I couldn't with the Xapnder, the same ...

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths
Xpander...... Mmmmmm I remember my first, bought because everyone used to go on about them. However they are a pain to programme, simply I would loose sight of where I was. Now at the time I also had things like the Synthex, which gave me those poly type sounds and a rather nice multimode filter, ye...

Re: VCAs with 2 (or more) CV inputs - discussion
I'm as passionate about a VCA with multiple CV inputs as I am about modules that have plenty of built in attenuation. Should be the norm not the exception.

The thing with the "3 osc" sound.... tends to be two. Things like the Mini or even a System 15 you ended up using a VCO for some sort of modulation most of the time.

Re: Best MS20 style filter for Eurorack?
The MA35 is great, that crappy VCA it has is a massive part of the sound.
Oakleysound Croglin is great too.
Got to say, for the price you can get them for an MS20 Mini would be the way to go.
