I got a wild hair today and decided to build some probes. Tooled brass, RG58 center conductor, salvaged Pomona stackable bananas, and of course...Pentel RSVP's.

Regarding grounds, all modules share a common 0v. Shields are common chassis. As for the RCA, they were mostly kept because I have no personal need to change these at the moment.

Those panels look great. I like how naturally distressed they are. They look very "tough" in the most sophisticated way possible. What is the process you use for the text? Also....string tie....and snakeskin.....I though I was the only one who's DIY looked like aircraft surplus! Guilty! I've may ha...

Inspired work, sir. A quick one that I've had designed up for a little while, but only recently had boards fabbed for. It's a dual 4-1 mixer using a discrete transistor amp stage. One of those rare builds that works first time, but with only six active components I'd certainly hope so! https://www.m...

Not a dumb question! The Sync Generator will have a slightly different layout in that it will only have the larger set of pads. Again you will be shorting 1 & 2 together. http://i.imgur.com/KzF0LYn.jpg For the Encoder - If you're looking to completely hardwire it for PAL and not just bypass the swit...

if I want to hardwire the Sync Gen for PAL (as Mouser is out of the switches),
can someone tell me what to wire to what, please?

Cheers :guinness:
Short S1-1 and S1-2. You may also omit R24.

Will verify later this evening.

Edit: Verified. Let'r rip.

Alright. Had an issue with my own Sync Generator - might be related. My microcontroller would not always reset correctly on power up. Subsequent power cycles would result in all sync signals working, some sync signals working, or none. Momentarily grounding pin 1 of U5 would fix this. I installed a ...

OK, for clarification: Why do you suspect your Sync Generator may not be working? When you patch a signal to the inputs of the encoder - either red, green, or blue - do you see the associated color on your display? Do these colors appear as alternating horizontal bars or flashes? Are the horizontal ...

LZX DIY Build Thread

I've been very excited about the arrival of LZX diy for sometime now and finally got around to assembling the first few bits of what's been released. While we have a dedicated DIY section on MW, I'd love to see it represented here as well. Please post along. This is the week's progress on my assembl...

Will probably be cross posting this to video, but this is this week's progress on my LZX DIY. They are faceless while I decide on what features to add - Will probably end up cloning some features of the legacy modules these were derived from. What did you use to create the labels? I'm assuming they're NOS or reclaimed knobs. (If they're still available let me know where from!) http://i.imgur.com/CYHRjlM.png Labels: Labels are punched out on aluminum tape with a typewriter, painted, cleaned, cut, and then placed.
