Hi, according to the DIST schematics, the only way you can have signal through in bypass mode and have nothing when you engage diodes is that your switch shortens the signal to the ground. I could insert here the schematics - but being not sure about copyrights and copylefts - you can have a look at...

Hi Dave, I'm at the other side of the globe (Spain), but it would be quite an easy job if you have right tools - a good 6-8x magnifier, fine tweezers, hot air rework station (some are not expensive - I use a cheap AOYUE) and a syringe with a SMT solder paste. Desoldering is easy - after a few second...

I also received my order

I ordered a kit from Jan and after some waiting (quite long I must say) and exchanging a few emails with him - he does answer the emails - I received my kit, well packed, good quality PCB and panel. Many Thanks to Jan!

for a start, take all chips out of the sockets. Examine your soldering with the magnifying glass looking for dry joints and wrong connections. Check orientation of sensitive parts like electrolytics, diodes and transistors; do not take things for granted. If nothing found, connect power and measure ...

this then brings up the question: what would you prefer? a THMT PCB with transistor matching required, or an SMT PCB that is already populated? i think im going to do a kit for this one, as it seems pretty useful. the circuit can be used to: 1. do low distortion sinewave shaping, 2. act as a quadru...

KT315/361

Hi, I used a lot of KT315/361 some 30 years ago when I lived in Russia. Never noticed their sensitivity to IR or light - just a normal transistors, doing what they are supposed to do. You will be absolutely fine with replacing them by western equivalents; no difference in sound.

just finished mine

Just finished mine - it took some time as I had a very busy period. I made all possible mistakes - applied a wrong polarity to driver board AND to one of VCO's - nothing serious, just had to replace all chips and electrolytic caps; strangely, all transistors are fine. Tracking is as perfect as it ca...

not exactly on the same subject - but I found and bought a motorized paste dispenser from https://mencinger.biz/store.ehtml/produ ... enser.html , and it works incredibly well. Good support from the man who produced it, and well thought-through device.

actually, if you print using Taulman nylon (tricky!!!) and have a properly calibrated printer, you will come pretty close to the Davies knob. Even a cheap 3d printer built from a kit can give you more than a decent results, but tuning it up can be a VERY long and difficult process; but you will lear...

You can make a Mutable Instruments Eurorack Module Tester (PCBs are still available from MI, there is a Mouser BOM and in another thread here you can find a case lasercut file for Ponoko). Not only it provides the power needed, but it has lots of useful functions; calibrating a VCO takes a couple of...
