Re: Recommend Hardware Compressor

This would be a bit of a dark horse choice, but I'm obsessed with the Cwejman VC-SC since picking it up recently. Currently available at Big City. Eurorack but with a 1/4" stereo input and outputs. It gives a nice crisp cohesion in regular settings and just a touch more radical with modulation. My u...

Re: Moving into 5U advice and questions

\ I wanted to like the Oakley Discontinuity, Synthesizers.Com Clipper... however, they don't tick my boxes. So I am inclined to agree that there is a hole in 5U as far as distortion goes. With those two, not really what they do, but I find feeding the Q107 back into itself and its hard clipping set...

Re: What's your recording chain?

^I was actually just looking into a setup like that earlier today actually. I've been using a Qu-16 with a Yamaha MG16XU daisy chained through two of the inputs. My Qu is having some hardware issues and the whole setup seems inefficient so I am looking to make a change It seems like a really good s...

Re: What's your recording chain?

I'm using a SSL X-Desk/X-Panda, into a Quantum 4848, recording with Logic. I have a couple of patchbays and a DB-25/TRS pass through for routing the DAW audio back out to my heretofore limited selection of outboard (SSL X-Rack preamps, 2 Joemeek optical compressors) or synths for processing. I like ...

I couldn't resist seeing the SM-1's in stock, brand new in grey.
Super cool score! That module looks awesome. I'll be glad when Big City runs out, so the temptation will go away.

Re: Cwejman owners, current or past

Adsr-vc2, 619€ for 2 adsr, 2vcas and vc over all segments. If you only need 2 adsr, buy something else. If you need all functions, maybe look at doepfer a-141-2, 130€ You can take 2 modules for 260€, have more functions and it will be more than half the price of the cwejman. Come on, I love Doepfer...

Re: Zerosum Inertia - Metasonix 5U on Reverb.Com

Lets also point out Zerosum Inertia. I believe Brian worked with Eric for a few years at Metasonix then produced a series of tube based modules himself for euro & 5U. A very cool guy! Brian is very cool! One of the nicest people I've ever met. I don't know how little or much, but my understanding i...

Re: Zerosum Inertia - Metasonix 5U on Reverb.Com

I have a number of these modules. They are very unique. There are quite a few demos on youtube in this format and the Buchla ZIMM series with identical circuits. Some by Wein Glas are among my favorites. The seller is on mw, too. I suspect he isn't trying too hard to sell the Metasonix at those pric...

Lol, and I thought that was a straight-forward one. The only second guessing I had between now and then was that mixing filter outputs seemed useful. But I'll yield to Peck forever and always.

Re: Steve Roach: some specifics

It is a wonderful sound and a very pleasing composition. It sounds a lot like the humble Q107 bandpass to me. If so, it should be easy to replicate in Euro, probably with any multimode filter. I came pretty close in a quick test, first with a minimoog as the sound source and then with a single Q106 ...

Where to buy Qing Pu 3.5mm socket or similar (for Modcan Euro modules)

Changing my initial query a bit, I was able to identify this part a QingPu Electronics brand (probably WQP-PJ301BM or WQP518MA-BM) but I can't locate a retailer for it. I need a quantity of one. It is for a Modcan module but Bruce hasn't been able to assist. Does any anyone have any tips for purchas...

I need a stand just like that for my Synthi, do you know what stand that is? That's the Konig & Meyer 17580 A "Heli" guitar stand if I am not mistaken. The Heli 2 is slightly different but not sure if there's any difference in angle/which dimensions fit. Going by pictures it looks the same in those...

That's cool, "TM"! Very useful module. There are some great YT examples of it on davidryle's channel. I think "CGS01" is a good search term. Thanks. I was surprised as anyone to see that email. It's a module I hadn't initially considered, so it'll be fun trying it out to see what it can bring to the...

Re: Super cool rock n roll music

Great track. Nice groove and production. I like your vocals most in your upper range. They just glide in a nice way. In the beginning, the vocal sounds a little halting, or maybe it just doesn't quite seem to have the presence in the mix a lead usually has. It is an impressive effort. I was interest...

Re: New Moon 508 modular filter bank set

Still waiting for some proper demos of what this thing can do for such a premium price . I want to believe but I need to hear it musically . When you remember that the Moon P cabinet is 1300 euros, I'd guess the "premium" here comes from the small powered tolex cab. It is possible it is adding +/- ...

Re: Where or How to learn everything about modular synthesizer?

An oscilloscope (software or cheap vintage) can be helpful. You can hear a lot of things, but sometimes seeing what happens to a waveform (both audio and cv) when you patch can aid understanding. This forum is a pretty deep resource. When you get to the point of asking more specific questions, you w...
