Re: Post pics of your 5U format setup!

The corner of noise after a little change ;-) I would feel very much at home in that perfect little nook! Fun variety of synths in a small space. What the IMG Stage Line box in your mixer rack? Routing or mutes? And is that a 4U wide cabinet with a CP row on the right? Surely something that 'cute' ...

Re: First experience on USED market went as feared... Yours?

The worst experiences I’ve had are a few modules that reek of cologne or air freshener, but that goes away in a couple of days. I think it’s vape juice. Any modules I ever sell will probably smell of incense. I did a trade for a Synthi that slightly smelled of weed, but that is almost to be expecte...

Re: New to modular - need some direction

I looked at some of your suggestions and honestly they are very practical lol. I'm trying to enter this whole landscape with the idea that most of my preconceptions are probably wrong. I'm coming from a "rock" format kindof. Songs are built up. Drums, bass, some rhythm instrument, here is where I s...

Re: Sequencer questions

You've jumped off the Big Boy diving board for sure! :yay: I'm going to make the boring suggestion of spending a tiny bit of time with what you've got. A month from now you'd be able to answer your own question based on the walls you run into patching some *really* capable sequencers. You basically ...

Re: New to modular - need some direction

The OP-1 is amazing. It is super deep but there is something about it that sort of blocks me out. I like the idea of having a knob for a specific thing. I like plugging things in and moving things around. When I use the OP-1 I feel like I'm failing it on some level. Okay, nix most of my thoughts, t...

Re: New to modular - need some direction

I just purchased a Moog Grandmother as my first true analog synth. I have multiple keyboards and an OP-1. My plan is to try to hold off on going nuts so I can have a clear direction with things. A lot of the modular videos I see are overwhelmingly beeps and boops and "dance music".. I appologize fo...

Re: Sequencer questions

Are you looking for your sequencers to interact or play independently? Do you have the expanders for the 569? If you don't, the 569EG and 569ES would open up missing capabilities in a way that just another sequencer wouldn't, particularly with your 563 set. Then something like the Q960 with its stag...

The seller should really have provided them. They come with the module. You should check in to see if he has them still.

Re: Moon 563E Cabling

The Moon 563E ribbon cables are 14-pin, and Euro are 16-pin. You should look up 14-pin IDC connector ribbon cables on Amazon. They are fairly cheap. Here is a compatible lot . Gert would cringe at their lack of Rainbow Power, but they will work fine. Got my expander for the Moon 563v3 trigger sequen...

Re: VC switch

Yes, 4 VCAs or a VC mixer could be used for a 4-1 switch, but how can one of the 4 channels be selected based on a CV? e.g. 0V = channel 1, 2V = channel 2, 4V = channel 3, 6V = channel 4. In a module, look at SSL Segwencer, STG Switch, COTK C962C, COTK 1620, or Modcan 69B. The last two probably cro...

Re: Does a 5u "serge" setup make sense?

Personally I couldn’t imagine setting up a dense Serge style patch with 1/4 cables and mults. My head would be spinning. Yeah, I'm sure it's possible to patch equivalent things one either, but I wonder if you really would. Serge panels kind of inspire an amount of "what if . ." patching that can ge...

Re: Your surprised-you-module(s)

Good pick! Here's a pic of my serge res eq. I can't call it a favorite 'module' of course. I bought the circuit built this way on the forum years ago and have always meant to clean up the wiring and repanel it. It needs constant TLC, because the kind of leads tend to break away from the dain...

Wrong format for the forum ;) My bad - just saw the thread title in 'Recent Topics' - seemed cool, but I don't have a ponytail ;) Great comments on those modules, though! It would be fun to read a thread like this across formats because it kind of suggests the user found something deeper in a modul...

Re: Your surprised-you-module(s)

The Q107 That would be my pick, too. A lot of amazing 5U modules, but most of them arrived with excited expectations on my part that maybe they lived up to or maybe they didn't. The humble Q107 isn't strictly even my favorite filter, but it is my most useful. Recently, I've enjoyed using the high p...

Re: Moon 565 Quantizer V3

I like the look of the M565, M565D and M567 combo but I am worried about the issues reported in this thread. Anyone got experience of it working largely flawlessly? I will be using it with a M569 sequencer but also creating in scale melodies from sample and hold / random. Gert has recommended runni...

The Minimoog comparison stands out, since its sound and playability made me so giddy the first time I powered it up. And still does, actually. Next time I'm in Kansas, maybe you'll give me a demo if I feed the chickens and milk the cows for you.

Re: Post pics of your 5U format setup!

Since I've stared at the model 15 and now 10 reissues for years now, could you comment on how unique the 10 feels in sound or experience to your other modular? It seems like the Moog systems must feel quite different than other 5U, with pros and cons that fall around classic tone vs. modern flexibil...

Diagnosing/Repairing a Korg SDD-3000

I purchased an inexpensive Korg SDD-3000 off reverb yesterday. It hasn't arrived yet. It was described with two faults: a non-functioning switch, which shouldn't be a problem, and a power issue. I am hoping to get advice about the power issue. I bought it for a price that I can be happy with if I ha...
