Get anything performed by Stanislav Richter
The Richters were both brilliant although Svatislav overshadowed the lesser known Stanislav.
thanks for the fix!

Re: Broadcast

The thing about Broadcast that I don't hear mentioned is that they were a phenomenal live band. I saw them multiple times every time they toured the USA. Each tour was different, and even two shows on back to back days in different cities would be different and both excellent.

Re: Waldorf Iridium

OK, I´m still don´t get it 2 Gb of sample storage or sample RAM? or it´s the same? The Iridium/Quatum load the samples into RAM or internal drive from SD/USB stick or just read directly from them? For me all this are important to my workflow The Iridium has 2 GB of flash memory in the synth. This m...

Re: Waldorf Iridium

Checking the specs.... Iridium has 2gb of sample memory. Quantum has 4gb. Prophet X has 200 gb. Haha, it's no contest. Prophet X 200 gb is how much space is on the SSD for samples. 50 gb is user, 150 gb is preset. You have to use an app to put user content on the drive. On the iridium you use an SD...

Re: Waldorf Iridium

Why are people saying you can't have multi samples in the Iridium?
I don't have one to explore (yet) but I read the manual and it is possible to set key ranges for samples.
Multiple press releases mention using the resonator on multi samples from flash memory.

Re: Difference in MIDI clock quality between DAWs?

I've tried every solution, and my favorite is the roland SBX-1. You get a standard latency and sharp timing nearly all the time, with the very rare duff buffer. Expert Sleepers is more accurate, but more finicky and I never enjoy using it. Hat's off to anyone who has it down. I've switched over to d...

Re: ableton live output Din sync?

You need a DC couple audio interface of some sort. The you can use a stereo sample -- one side with a pulse at the first then a good deal of silence. The other channel with a positive DC offset signal. One will be your clock the other your gate. The two together DIN sync make. Then you need to trigg...

Re: Why is some techno good and some bad?

The classic XoX instruments, for example, with simple 16 step sequencers. These instruments were envisaged by Herr Doktor Roland and chums as a sort of backing band for the main event, accompanying guitars and singers- not at carrying the whole track. This kinda notion gets booted around a lot, but...

Re: Waldorf Iridium

Funny how I can't stand a touchscreen on a keyboard (quantum), but like it on a module (Iridium). I'm going to wait for the kinks to be worked out, but this looks lovely.

Re: Software equivalent of Reface CS?

Steinberg is owned by Yamaha and some of the Cubase stock VSTs share some reface CS / An1x vibe. Retrologue and some of the Halion Modes.
If you use an iPad, yamaha synthbook has a AN2015 synth that is similar.

Interesting he liked Chicago house because so many IDM heads hate music like Chicago house and I think it's awesome. My understanding is that people who hate Chicago house are people of a certain era who got into electronic dance music through people like Aphex Twin. Aphex Twin is of an era where p...

That's probably the best use of machine learning yet. Pretty much the only reason I would want a big touchscreen on a keyboard.

Re: Sequential Pro 3

Those are all interesting points. I don't actually own one since I have a Pro-2, Prophet 6, Prophet 12, etc The place where the Pro3 rules is in the step sequencer / arpeggiator. However, I am just not really into that busy 16 step techno bleep thing anymore. But if you like that sound it is awesom...

Re: Sequential Pro 3

That’s funny, I love the Prophet 12, but I only have the module, so i guess that messing around with screens isn’t an issue for me. I have the P12 module too. It doesn't bother me at all there. I think because it is all so compact and you are not jumping from here to there and it's easier to have t...

Re: Sequential Pro 3

Yeah, totally. Either way, it's one of the best mono synths ever made. I want one despite having a Prophet 6 and a Pro 2. It's just a beast. I for one didn't gel with it. While it is certainly capable it I didn't really like the inherent tone or the complexity and menu system. Spending 40 minutes t...

https://youtu.be/tUXsbNNxTD0 Another window into its sonics. Although I'm still very interested in this, I find it a bit on the pillowy sounding side, at least here anyway. Not that that's a bad thing but, just my impression. I was thinking wow, that sounds amazing until I realized it was sitting o...

Re: Looking for a sampler

Regarding the EPS: I don't know much about keyboards but compared with the P8 and DX11 I have around I always choose to play the EPS. Some have clacky keys, mine does not. I really like the sequencer for use as a scratchpad. Only thing I wish it didn't do is send out program changes be default a at...
