I've been very happy with a denon dl-110.

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths

Either way, the Syntrx is not meant to be a Synthi clone or to replace it despite it copies its architecture. According to Erica Synths' own statements the circuits are different and therefore it won't sound, behave or feel like a Synthi. Of course I understand it is essentially it's own synth with...

Re: new Synthi inspired machine coming from Erica Synths

I'm finding the syntrx very tempting. Thoughout my synth journey I have always wanted an EMS, but being in the USA and lacking funds, it never really was an option. The erica is available and is tempting but I am not totally sold on it. The matrix is buffered and from the demos I've heard it seems t...

Re: [AVAILABLE] TTSH V4 Build Thread

I'm still having trouble repairing the traces that were damaged when I had to remove and replace the switches. Can someone provide pictures of the main board that identify the component numbers so I can hardwire the switches according to the version 3 schematics that are available? I am having troub...

Re: Autechre

I've been following them since incunabula, always checking in on the new release, but haven't been engrossed from Confield on... There are some nice sounds on this new one, especially the least typically autechre sounds and ambient elements. Their crunchy beats ( or rather beat) thing is kinda tired...

Does anyone know who the woman is who performed the vocals on Mariah’s “Fujiyu...”?
Julie Fowell sang the vocals on Utakata No Hibi

Re: XERXES 8-voice polysynth by Black Corporation

Does anyone have a midi CC list for the Xerxes? Thanks! I haven't looked through it, but maybe this manual will help: Xerxes.pdf It's worth noting there is an error in that unofficial manual regarding saving patches across banks. Whats in the manual will lose your sound. What you need to do is chan...

Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths

I dunno about Xpander. I've been underwhelmed when I've played/programmed one myself, but people I who have a lot of experience with them that I know and respect have them as a desert island synth. There is nothing modern that really replaces every aspect of the xpander -- 6 multi analog with comple...

Re: Yasuaki Shimizu, Mariah and similar Japanese music

YMO itself is probably one of his least interesting projects, and that’s saying something because YMO (especially the overlooked extended-band live material with Yano, Suzuki, etc.) is absolutely impeccable. I got to see Hosono last fall in NYC. Most happy show in a long long time. The band played ...

Re: Yasuaki Shimizu, Mariah and similar Japanese music

2nd the follow the Hosono approach. Easiest way to dig through Japanese music from the 70s on. You might not find everything but you'll discover a lot of gems.

I really like Yapoos, but they're not so mellow, and from what I can discern from my friends response, it's maybe not a universal taste.

Re: How to enhance your sound!

Work on your sounds and your arrangement first. Don't put extra mud in there to begin with. Listen carefully to your sounds, and place them according to how they are and how they sound best rather than pile things on and try to "enhance" or fix it. If you are going to compose blind (ie not arranging...

It's been surmised that the beginning of Daphnis et Chloe Suite #2 was Ravel's intent to musically represent a series of female orgasms. The passage between 4:00 and 5:00 is unmistakably a musical orgasm.
Bolero is some of the best sex music there is. Caused a scandal when it was first performed.

Re: Why buy used at recent market prices?

Everybody wants "deals" but for that you have to have your eyes out for interesting stuff being offered for less. If you are looking for something in particular -- everyone in the world right now has pretty much the same source for shopping, the internet, so take your pick and compete with the rest....

Re: Para or Poly synth to compliment Euro set up...OB6, Pro 3, P12 experience?

of the synths under discussion... I have: motas-6 , prophet 12 and iridium. I had pro3 but traded in for the motas-6. ( no regret). If you can find one and afford it. I'd recommend the iridium above the others. You can integrate it with modular for modulation. It includes pretty much every digital s...

Re: BR-909

That was kind of my point.... Gitane demone and skinny puppy for exemple used the 909, but we mostly know it and get links to techno-related outputs. Nothing wring at all with the 909 ( I used it to bits in the 90's), but a lot of its fanbase locks it into purely techno related territories... Mantr...

Re: BR-909

I believe the more appropriate term would be "cliche", but I get your point. If you've spent time with a 909, I think it would be evident that you can use it in many styles of music and program it to create a wide range of drum sounds. Of any classic non sampling drum machine it is probably the mos...

i love the 909 sound, but i'm starting to think about looking at something a bit less niche, like a drumbrute or something. n
Why would you consider the 909 to be niche? And the drumbrute not?

Re: Motas-6 synth

Heya, nice demos. Some of the best I've heard so far... (Un?)fortunatey, I got my motas in the middle of my great quarantine studio reshuffle where so much gear went out and in that I'm spread pretty thin in my programming time. Right now I suspect it is jealous of the iridium. :-/ Some good news fo...
