Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Then check the pins and connections around pins 1,2,3 of the TL074 (both on the front board) + on the output scale pot. citruesilver - For reference the Turing schematic is here - https://github.com/TomWhitwell/TuringMachine/raw/master/Collateral/PDF_Schematics%20/TuringMachine2_Schematic_May2016.p...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Hey, don't give up so easily :) relax, have patience and i'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it. You already have a module that is almost working, it's not dead.

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

Hi, the next thing I would check is the continuity between all the headers between the two boards with a multimeter, with the boards attached together beep test them to make sure the signal can get through ok AND that there isn't a short between any adjacent pins on all the headers. Also as you have...

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

BTW Steve from Thonk has given me the edvice that my solder points may be the culprits here as they solder may not have reached the other side on all solder points. huh?? PT holes don't 'need' the solder going all the way through. Sure they don't need it, but it IS indicative that dry joints are ve...

When I try to use the module as a random sequencer it generates a random sequence for approx. half the steps and the rest of the steps are a single tone.
Does it do this for loop lengths shorter than 16 steps?

Hey Indicator, did you build it yourself? If not did the builder calibrate it first do you know?

If not then follow the instructions here -

Based on this photo then yes on the 321 as the pot shafts are tall enough.

Re: Trim Pot Toppers

Larger modules tend to be prone to more flex, particularly when the tall trimmer pots aren't too close to parts which are more likely to be mechanically secured to the panel like jacks or pots. With something like the VCAM you can always pull it out of your rack and just press your finger behind the...

Re: Trim Pot Toppers

Yeah we stock the Micro T18 too, long before Smallbear, but they are not suitable for Tall Trimmers without risking damage when removing them. The main design consideration on the Toppers for us was making sure they were suitable for Tall Trimmer pots, not T18 pots.

Re: Trim Pot Toppers

Yep all those other colours will be coming in early 2021 :sb:

The low torque on the Micro T18 was one of the key reasons for developing these.

Re: Trim Pot Toppers

The diameter helps a little, the grippier surface gives them a big advantage over the Micro T18 in terms of usability... but nothing beats the Micro T18 for cramped modules.

Re: [Project] Turing Machine Mk2

@Pitop

Best thing to do to start with is take the faceplate off, seperate the two PCBs and send good photos of both sides of both PCB's to support@thonk.co.uk

I just updated my 4 modules and now have a ton of constant high pitch whine / digital noise. Had to downgrade back to v 3. Anyone else have this issue?
I just PM'd you, we haven't had this particular case reported before.

Yeah certainly they like using Mouser part codes as the Lingua Franca... I've always been happy with what parts PCB cart use although there haven't been any exotic caps or anything. They are happy to accept parts also.

Had one parcel last week take 5 days door to door from UK to IL in the US.... that went via Chicago. It's so random it's crazy, others still taking 4-8 weeks which are basically identical.

Taken out of context of DIY... I'd be interested to hear what the Klee offers over the wide range of sequencers already available in Euro. Presumably a Klee would be much like a Turing Machine on steroids, with deterministic control over the bit string (whereas TM does a randomised bit flip with pr...

Re: SMT assembly houses with good prices and non-green solder mask

It took a bunch of (tense) emails back and forth until they finally checked, sending me a picture with the proof, a photo taken by their assembly machine: "After checking the AOI record, we found 1pc,IC4 , mount MCP6004 wrongly, really sorry for this stupid mistake." That's really annoying. I'm not...
