Re: After Later Audio vs Mutable Instruments

I have the ALA Beehive and Clouds with the Magpie faceplate. They are both very solidly built! I have zero qualms about using clones, and couldn't care less what some cry babies on a forum might think. It's all done proper. Plus ALA is a local Seattle company =o]

Re: cre8audio

If you can, test the -12v rail, this is a known issue with these. Mine had that issue, i wrote Crea8Audio and they sent me a replacement PSU board. Bought one of these cases on ebay a few weeks ago, had a few issues so far, including the misaligned rails, but I'll get over that! My main trouble, I T...

Has anyone made different side panels for this? I really don't like the cheap looking wood that's on there.

I love Plaits. I used it in our new song as a source of random perc/bass sounds. Hit it with a rhythmic trigger, and random voltage into the Model CV in, and pure awesomeness comes out.

OK, tested. And as i thought, my -12v isn't correct. It's reading -4v. A little over actually.

Re: cre8audio

How did you test the -12v? Cre8audio walked me through the process (another + to their support!). Got a cheap multimeter (which, if you don't have one, is exceptionally handy to have around in general). Set it to test DC voltage (usually looks like "V⎓", often with the lines on top of the V). If yo...

When I'm researching a product I'll generally do a websearch for "(whatever) problems" so I don't have to figure out where to look. It also tends to focus on dissatisfied people, so if there are relatively few then it's usually a good sign... From what I remember the problem with the underpowered -...

Anyone else notice their rails are slightly off? The bottom rail in my case is shifted to the right by about a mm, maybe slightly less. Enough to make my modules not line up properly.

Re: SY99 or DX7II?

The ability to use the AWM engine as a modulator for the FM engine leads to some killer sounds. Really? I have a TG-77 and have tried this, with many varieties of waveforms and feedback levels etc. and and it mainly ends up just adding a kind of ugly distortion. Might be better with something other...

The SY77/99 are beasts. The ability to use the AWM engine as a modulator for the FM engine leads to some killer sounds. I wish the MODX series could do this. But their new Morphing update is endless inspiration.

Thanks for the replies! Anyone have or tried their filter or vco? I've been looking at dreadbox's chromatic series for my nifty case, and then came across these guys and like the look of their stuff. I've got the bOSC along with the Chromatic series modules, and i really like them. The bOSC has a n...

Re: New Dreadbox Chromatic Modules just showed up on MG

I just got the VCO, VCF/Mixer/VCA and Modulator modules. I tuned the VCO but i feel like it should go an octave lower, C1 sounds too high to me. Anyone feel this as well? I need to sequence in the 0 octaves to get some solid low end. I also bought the After Later Audio bOSC which sounds really good ...

I'd really like one of these, but at $550, i'd almost rather just buy a PCM 41. Anyway, i think the Benidub Digital Echo is a better deal at this point.

Re: RE-303 Opinions wanted (now that it has been in the "wild" for a bit.)

I just paid for an RE-303, should have it in 3-4 weeks i'm guessing. I had an original for almost 20 years. The first x0xb0x i build back in 2008 sounded so good, i stupidly sold my 303. I've had 4 or 5 more of them over the years, including the x0xio modded box. Which was a HUGE PITA to build. I ha...
