Re: SY99 or DX7II?

Really? That would be odd as all the DX's after the Mk1 DX7 did do full range velocity. The 100 max velocity on the Mk1 was an error IIR as it was launched at the same tiem as MIDI.
There's also a ROM upgrade for the Mk1 that allows full range velocity.

Re: Recreating an Analog Four voice in Eurorack

I really love the sound and versatility of the Analog Four (check the links), but it's a complete mismatch for my current setup. Does anyone know of any combinations of modules that could be used to pull off something like an a4 voice? I'd be curious to hear anyone's take on if it's even possible i...

Have you checked out the Frequency Central Bartos Flur II? The CV bus makes it a great sequencer driven by arbitrary ramps.

Looks like it's just a gate/trig sequencer? :hmm:

A wave table type oscillator would be good for drones. Piston Honda MK III or Plaits. I like the PH for the smooth morphing between wave forms. Wave tables give you a wide variety of textures to choose from.

Yeah something Serge like the aforementioned VCFQ. The Res EQ (i have a 10hp version) could be an interesting module to complement your other filters, with some feedback to play with. Wait... there’s a 10hp version of the ResEQ??? It this one: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/other-unknown-reseq woah ...

AFAIC DivKid doesn't do reviews, he just shows what a module can do. I find them educational as he often uses them in ways I wouldn't have though of. I often watch his descriptions of modules I'm not interested in just to learn something - then usually find I suddenly am interested :) He rarely expr...

2 unbuffered for flexibility as passive mixers Passive mults are NOT intended for mixing. In most cases you won't get what you expect, there is an outside possibility of damage. Instead of those mults get an actual mixer. The only mixing I can see is the ATN8, mixing isn't just for audio. You've 4 ...

Re: Logic Pro vs Ableton for eurorack

Ableton allows you to sell / transfer your license if you no longer use it. The license for Logic is purchased through the Mac App store and is non-transferrable. If a person is starting out and doesn't have any DAW, I think that is a good reason to avoid Logic and try something else first. The OP ...

Why is this 'more difficult than it should be'? It's a very niche use case. 8 channels of amplification, how ...

How about this - only 4.5k and with lots of tubes so should be plenty of character. Wouldn't fancy taking it out with me live though :). You mention you're thinking of playing live with this? TBH unless you've a road crew taking anything bigger than a desktop mixer out live I think would be a nightm...

Re: Help with new eurorack setup for a newbie

While it's fine to have a modular without VCAs, I think they can lead to more experimentation - which is kind of the point? There are many quad VCAs, The Intellijel looks good, though I'm looking at this one - Nano ALT which I like the look of as you can invert the incoming CV which can be useful fo...

I guess while there's nothing fundamentally morally different between 1 man operations cloning modules for the Eurorack market and putting similar stuff in pedal format, but the latter does open it to a much wider market - and profit potential. Similar situation to the Arturia Freak, where a much bi...

Even 4 rows would be getting beyond your reach at a desk whilst sitting. There's a reason a lot of custom cases are curved so the top modules lean forwards.

Re: Objective criteria for best-of-breed modules?

To the OP, while it may not seem it to the outsider a modular is a musical instrument , hence 'best' is utterly subjective. As an instrument it's main 'job' is to inspire the user - not measure well. The ony vaguely objective qualities I can think of are only applicable to certain modules - does it ...

Once you have actionable analytics, create buy-in with domestic budgetary stakeholders. If the financials make sense, partner with a eurorack vendor whose core competen...

Re: Thoughts on this design for a "Super Sampler"

Agree with some of the others here, this may be a Eurorack layout, but it's not a modular. 1 modulation source + PNW?! 4 VCAs with nothing to control them. A trigger/gate sequencer AND PNW AND Temps Util? Certainly not short of triggers anyway :) Except AFAICS you've little to actually trigger apart...

Re: The modules that should exist (but don't)

Quantized clock-sync'd muter. Can record and playback mute/unmute sequences. Use case: you want to mute/unmute a channel (audio/cv/gate) in n-measures. This lets you bring sequences and sounds in and out in perfect time, eg. mute channel 1 is set to toggle after 2 measures - press mute button 1 and...

If this KT wasn't made by Behringer and was 1u, I'd definitely pick one up just to hear it. WHY IS IT 2u? Fuck Uli, but if it was 1u, that's hard to not take a chance on. it's bizarre, as they have many 2u effects that could be 1u(or STEREO) allowing consumers to buy more--in less space! really odd...
