Just give it time ArcDevilz, it waits until you are not looking directly at it... then she jumps.

In 6 years I haven’t been able to directly observe it.

It’s tricksy

Re: Synthesizers, mixers (SSL SIX), balanced/unbalanced

For what it's worth, I knew what I was getting into.
I fuckin' love Graham Hinton!
I'm a customer of his as well.

No doubt SSL today is a far cry from its glorious past - a past
Graham knows firsthand.

Re: 252e bug?

Thanks Leo, I found this when I was trying to get a bunch of rings packed with random data on red, green, and blue and then hitting the ring selection with different CV/triggers. Suddenly the tempo slowed way down and the module became unresponsive. I think it has to do with subdivisions as the modu...

Re: 252e bug?

just looked at this again. I can consistently get it to malfunction. Each cell has the option to edit red, green, or blue for pulses, CV 1-2, CV 4-6, and subdivisions. Subdivisions can exist on red, green, or blue cells even though there is only one subdivision output. If you put multiple subdivisio...

252e bug?

I need to confirm the parameters, but I may have found a bug Adding subdivisions on multiple rings freezes the module and slows down the tempo. How to test: In the display section, go to all layers visible (all LEDs on) Randomize all “red” parameters by hitting red and edit buttons. This randomizes ...

Re: KODAMO EssenceFM - 300 Voice 16 Part Multitimbral FM Rack

Just bumping this. Hoping to get some additional user experiences. Any further thoughts from those of you that have one? How is the sound? Is it glassy (like the digitone) or more gnarly like the dx7? Perhaps there’s an option to change the resolution on the output - I need to check.

Is it fun?

Re: Synthesizers, mixers (SSL SIX), balanced/unbalanced

https://www.ranecommercial.com/kb_article.php?article=2107 Edit: I used this to solve an issue with a synth in my setup that was doing similar to you describe - it's the only time I've had the issue with all the different bits of gear Ive had, so it doesn't seem to be too common. Thanks Mr Tib! I d...

Re: Synthesizers, mixers (SSL SIX), balanced/unbalanced

Sincere thanks for your help Graham. Sorry about the formatting. I’m on a lake fishing and my thumbs are getting numb. I recently downsized my mixer to an SSL SIX. I'm sorry :hihi: What sort of noise and distortion? The overall signal is attenuated. The low frequencies are rolled off, almost sounds ...

Synthesizers, mixers (SSL SIX), balanced/unbalanced

I recently downsized my mixer to an SSL SIX. I am experiencing some curious behavior with my modular synth and wanted some input. Sending the output of the synth through a TRS cable into one of the mono line inputs of the mixer I get lots of noise/distortion. Sending the same signal to one of the mi...

Re: Is my 296e possessed?

Hi multierend,

Is the jump in the touch pots very quick? As in you think maybe it was a trick of the eye?

If so, you are not imagining it! Every so often the leds jump. It’s quick enough for one to question if it really happened!

Re: Is the cost of a module worth it?

It's amazing what gigantic expenses become ordinary costs. No one on this forum has any studio more expensive than a very normal purchase common to someone most streets: A second car. That's an ordinary way to spend a bunch of socially approved money on something. A car really starts at $7,000 a ye...

Re: 251e sample and hold issue

My 251e shows the same behavior as yours. In sample and hold mode, the lowest value I can get (feeding the sample input 0v) is stage 13.

This is in a new 18 space buchla cabinet.

This is incoherent. None of your ideas connect to one another. How about responding directly to individual points rather than weird arbitrary strawmen, or using accusations of “elitism” as a way of deflecting criticism. I’m not concerned with criticism, nor with deflecting it. I’m sorry that my pos...

How can someone grow as an artist if all they ever hear is thumbs up, +1?
same goes for respected module manufacturers imo

Why does criticizing, harshly criticizing even, someone’s musical effort automatically equate to discouraging any further effort? How can someone grow as an artist if all they ever hear is thumbs up, +1? Far better - your latest effort is shit. Keep trying. Perhaps some really do need a steady strea...

Re: Buchla 296e "rem" led

My rem light is also sometimes wonky, going on at various times.
I think it has to do with the touch pots. Try changing the mode to decay or a or b filters. I can get it to stop acting up if I put all the pots to max or min.

Sounds like you’ve got me figured, which is oddly comforting. Actually “dull ease of the mind” refers to a phrase in James joyce’s Ulysses or Portrait (don’t remember). I believe he uses it when referencing the tendency to frame history through cliche. The phrase the world remembers - a dull ease of...

Let’s go back to the OPs declaration. Before we do, let’s also consider who made this declaration. We are not talking about some beard-wax twiddlin fedora wearing hipster, or tangerine sequencing pony tail farmer, this is one of the OG modular renaissance innovators. The original agonizer. I seem to recall that he ditched the continuum external cv thing for continuum to midi via the 225e at some point.
I wonder why.
